5 WENZEL GROUP The Measure of All: WENZEL Measuring Solutions The cornerstone for the success story of the company was laid in 1968 by its founder Werner Wenzel. Since the development of the first WENZEL coordinate measuring machine in 1980, more than 7000 measuring systems have been delivered worldwide to the automotive industry, aerospace and mechanical engineering as well as to all other manufacturing sectors. The WENZEL vertically integrated production system provides an efficient, quality focused, production process - from the first to the last steps. Our in-house competence across the value chain offers us the greatest possible flexibility under adherence of shortest delivery time, also in the implementation of special customer wishes. We achieve these due to the application of the latest production methods. Our certified quality management system guarantees the constantly unrivalled quality level of our processes and finished products. A Strong Base: Volcanic Hard Rock Granite This natural plutonic rock has aged for millions of years. Its thermal behavior and the minimal residual stress make granite the number one raw material for metrology structures. The base for our success lies in South Africa. From there we source the granite for our coordinate measuring machines. With the acquisition of a granite processing plant, we have a guaranteed the supply chain of this critical raw material and have consolidated our market leading position for the future. WENZEL performs all processing steps from cutting, drilling, grinding to final hand lapping of the granite.
