Revisin 0: Initial dcument creatin, 9/2006, M. Rgers AF4000 MOD-1 OEM Prductin Line Trubleshting Guide If erratic system behavir is bserved that cannt be reslved by the methds utlined belw, ensure that there is nt a transmitter with batteries installed that may be interfering. If a transmitter is packed with batteries installed, its buttns may be depressed sending a cnstant signal which can interfere with the transmissin f desired signals. A f i r transmitter e - with p new batteries a r can have t a s range. f c ver 100 feet. m If all apprpriate trubleshting steps are fllwed prblems persist, please cntact Skytech Prducts Grup at 888-672-8929. Please refer t appendix f illustratins fr figures referenced in the fllwing sectin.
Mdule will nt learn Ensure the REMOTE / OFF switch n the side f the transmitter mdule (see figure 1) is set t REMOTE. Make sure that the batteries in bth the transmitter and receiver are installed in the prper directin (see figures 4-6) and are nt drained. Individual battery vltage shuld be n less than 1.4V fr AA and AAA batteries, 2.8V fr buttn cells, and 9.0V fr 12V batteries. Verify that the transmitter indicates that a signal is being sent. With thermstat transmitters the LCD display shuld indicate ON r OFF depending n which buttn is being pressed. The LED indicatr shuld illuminate n wall transmitters and n/ff hand-held transmitters (see figures 4 and 8). Buttns shuld be pressed and held fr 1 t 2 secnds t ensure that a cmplete signal is sent. Make sure that the transmitter is within the 20-ft peratinal range f the receiver. f i r e - p Ensure a that the r 4-pin t lead-set s is. securely c cnnected mfrm the battery pack t the cntrl mdule s AUX cnnectin (see figures 2 and 7). If the A/C Pwer Adaptr is used, make sure the leads frm the adaptr are securely cnnected t the POWER terminals n the cntrl mdule (see figure 3). Press and hld the LEARN buttn n the mdule (see figure 2) fr apprximately 10 secnds t clear the memry (yu shuld hear a series f beeps frm the receiver). Then press and release the learn buttn (yu shuld hear a single beep frm the receiver), immediately press either the ON r OFF buttn n the transmitter (yu shuld hear a series f beeps indicating the transmitter cde has been learned).
Pilt will nt light / Verify that gas supply is turned n. stay lit Verify that the receiver is receiving the signal frm the transmitter by listening fr a beep frm the receiver when ON is pressed n the transmitter. If yu d nt hear a beep, ensure that the mdule has learned the transmitter (see abve). Ensure that the range lead frm the pilt assembly igniter is securely cnnected t the terminal labeled I and the white lead frm the flame rectificatin sensr is securely cnnected t the terminal labeled S n the cntrl mdule (see figure 1). Make sure that the range and white leads frm the mdule are securely cnnected t the terminals labeled PILOT n the valve bdy (see figure 9). Ensure that the black GROUND wire is securely cnnected t an apprpriate metal prtin f the valve r pilt assembly. A prper grund is essential t spark igniter peratin. Make certain that the pilt flame is in cntact with the flame f i r e - p rectificatin a sensr r n t the s pilt assembly.. c This valve mis equipped with a pilt flame adjustment screw (see figure 9). If the pilt flame is t small it will nt cntact the flame rectificatin sensr and will nt cmplete the safety circuit. Pilt flame is always n / will nt extinguish Main Flame will nt light Ensure that the CONTINUOUS PILOT switch n the cntrl mdule (see figure 1) is set t OFF. Check the handheld transmitter display fr the wrd PILOT n the LCD screen (see figure 10). If this is displayed, press and hld the CONTINUOUS PILOT buttn n the handheld transmitter (see figure 8) fr apprximately 10 secnds t turn ff cntinuus pilt mde. Verify that the gas supply is turned n. Ensure that the pilt flame will ignite. If nt, see pilt flame trubleshting abve. Make sure that the green and white leads frm the mdule are securely cnnected t the terminals labeled MAIN n the valve bdy (see figure 9). Make certain that the pilt flame is in cntact with the flame rectificatin sensr n the pilt assembly. This valve is equipped with a pilt flame adjustment screw (see figure 9). If the pilt flame is t small it will nt cntact the flame rectificatin sensr and will nt cmplete the safety circuit. Ensure that the pilt flame is prperly lcated t ignite the main flame.
Flame height adjustment will nt wrk / wrks backwards Ensure that the black and red leads frm the battery pack r the AF-4000 110H/L mdule are securely cnnected t the red and black leads frm the mtr drive r H/L latching slenid lcated n the valve bdy (red t red and black t black). Verify that the selectr switch n the battery pack is set t DC MOTOR DRIVE r LATCHING SOLENOID, depending upn which device is installed (see figure 6). Check functinality with all transmitters t determine if there is an issue with the main cntrl system r an individual transmitter. If the issue is with an individual transmitter, make sure that the batteries in bth the transmitter and receiver are installed in the prper directin (see figures 4-6) and are nt drained. Individual battery vltage shuld be n less than 1.4V fr AA and AAA batteries, 2.8V fr buttn cells, and 9.0V fr 12V batteries. Rm temperature Ensure that the transmitter was nt recently stred in a displayed n handheld different envirnment (air-cnditined, heated) frm that in f i transmitter r e is - p which the a transmitter r t is being s tested.. c It may take up mt 3 nt crrect. hurs fr the temperature inside a packaged transmitter, (When using and several minutes fr an unpackaged transmitter, t Thermstatic equalize with the rm temperature. transmitters nly) Unit will nt respnd in THERMO mde. (When using Thermstatic transmitters nly). Ensure that the thermstatic transmitter is within the 20-ft peratinal range. Make sure that an ON r OFF cmmand was nt last sent frm anther transmitter. These cmmands will ver-ride the thermal cmmands frm the handheld transmitter. T return the system t THERMO mde, press either ON r OFF n the thermstatic transmitter, then press the MODE buttn t put the system in THERMO mde. Press and hld the SET buttn t change the set temperature (see figure 8). Verify that the set temperature n the thermstatic remte is at least 2 degrees abve r belw the rm temperature. The system will nt react t temperatures within 2 degrees f the set temperature.
