Fabric A 2178-02 (Floral Sketch White/Pink) ½ yard Cut one 7 ¼ square. Cut across both diagonals to make four corner triangles. Cut three 6 ⅞ squares. Cut across one diagonal to make six side triangles. Cut two 6 ½ squares Fabric B 2178-19 (Floral Sketch Gray/Blue) ⅜ yard Cut one 6 ½ x WOF strip. Sub-cut into six 6 ½ squares. Cut one 2 ½ x WOF strip. Sub-cut into fourteen 2 ½ squares. Cut six 2 ½ x WOF strips for the binding Fabric O 2183-66 (Mini Geo Green) ½ yard Cut two 8 ½ x WOF strips. Sub-cut into thirty-two 1 ½ x 8 ½ strips and sixteen 1 ½ x 6 ½ strips. Fabric P 1351 (Just Color! Sea Glass) ¼ yard Cut two 1 ½ x 36 ½ strips Cut three 1 ½ x WOF strips. Piece the strips together to make two 1 ½ x 51 ½ strips. Backing (Your Choice) Two 54 x WOF strips 3 yards Sewing Sew using a ¼ seam allowance with right sides together (RST) unless otherwise indicated. Press seams towards the darker fabric, unless otherwise indicated. Block Assembly 1. Sew one 1 ½ x 8 ½ Fabric O strip to the long side of one Fabric A corner triangle to make one A/O Corner Block. Repeat to make four A/O Corner Blocks total (Fig. 1). 2. Sew one 1 ½ x 8 ½ Fabric O strip to two adjacent sides of one Fabric A side triangle to make one A/O Side unit (Fig. 2). Repeat to make six A/O Side units total. 3. Sew two Fabric N small triangles to adjacent sides of one 2 ½ Fabric I square to make one N/I/N block (Fig. 3). Sew across the diagonal of the smaller square from the upper right corner to the lower left corner (Fig. 4). Flip open the triangle formed and press (Fig. 5). Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle ¼ away from the sewn seam. 5. Follow Figure 6 for the seam direction to add a 2 ½ Fabric M square to each of the remaining corners of the 4 ½ Fabric J square to make one M/J unit (Fig. 7). Fig. 4 Fig. 5 Fig. 6 6. Sew together one M/H unit and one M/E unit to make one M/H/E Unit (Fig. 16). Repeat to make six M/H/E units total. 16. Sew together one M/K unit and one M/G unit to make one M/K/G Unit (Fig. 17). Sew one 1 ½ x 6 ½ Fabric O strip to each side of one 6 ½ Fabric B square. Sew one 1 ½ x 8 ½ Fabric O strip to the top and bottom of the Fabric B square to complete one O/B Block (Fig. 19). Repeat to make six O/B Blocks total. 19. Sew one 1 ½ x 6 ½ Fabric O strip to each side of one 6 ½ Fabric A square. STUDIO e PROJECTS Page 7 of 7 23. Sew one 1 ½ x 51 ½ Fabric P strip to each side of the quilt top. Sew one 1 ½ x 36 ½ Fabric P strip to the top and bottom of the quilt top (Fig. 23). 24. Sew one 5 ½ x 53 ½ Fabric C strip to each side of the quilt. Sew one 5 ½ x 46 ½ Fabric C strip to the top and bottom of the quilt (Fig. 24). Fig. 23 Fig. 24 Layering, Quilting and Finishing 25. Press the quilt top and backing well. Layer backing (wrong side up), batting, pressed quilt top (right side up) and baste. Quilt as desired and trim excess batting and backing when quilting is complete. Binding 26. Cut the ends of the six binding strips at a 45-degree angle and sew end to end to make one continuous piece of binding. Fold in half lengthwise and press wrong sides together. Sew the binding to the front of the quilt, raw edges together. Turn the folded edge to the back, and hand stitch in place. 2013 Studio e Fabrics
