Cake Favor Box and Baby Shower Invitation Designed By: Leigha Rock July 2011 These adorable little cake favor boxes are perfect for birthdays, weddings or baby showers. Fill them with treats or with a gift card. Make one for a sweet little gift, or make a whole cake for a stunning presentation. Instructions Note: All pictures use the medium sized template. The medium sized box makes a perfect little gift, or you can make a whole cake with 12 of them. The small and large templates are perfect for making different sized cake tiers. Step 1 Cut out cake box template. Carefully trace out the cake templates onto the 8 x 8 piece of Chocolate Chip and 3 x 6 piece of Whisper White card stock as shown. Note: I traced my templates out onto thin cardboard first to use over and over again when making multiple boxes. Using the template as a guide, make the score lines with a straight edge and Bone Folder. Place Sticky Strip or Multipurpose Liquid Glue on the outside flaps as shown.
Step 1 Step 2 Punch the edge of the cake top with the Scallop Edge Border punch as shown. Step 2 Step 3 Adhere the point of the cake box first (Step 3a). Then adhere the body of the cake box to the cake top (Step 3b). Lastly, adhere the flap on the cake top to the body of the cake box (Step 3c). Step 3a Step 3b Step 3c
Step 4 Close the flaps on the back of the box and tuck the scalloped flap down as pictured. Step 4 Step 5 Punch three flowers out of the 8-1/2 x 3 piece of Pink Pirouette card stock using the Fancy Flower punch. Mark a center point lightly in pencil on each of the three flowers. Cut from the outer edge of the flower to the center on flower number one as shown. Do the same to flower number two, but make a second cut to cut out one full petal. Cut the next flower in the same way, but cut out two of the petals instead of one. Step 5a When you are done, you should have five pieces in total. One of each of: one petal, two petals, three petals, four petals, and five petals.
Step 5b Step 6 Note: When making the roses, I recommend using a hot glue gun. I have tried many different types of adhesives, but the glue gun works the best. You need a glue that is strong, and will dry fast. Starting with the 5-petal flower, place a little hot glue along one edge where you have cut the slit. Overlap the edges slightly as shown so that the flower curves a little. Do the same for the 4-petal flower. This flower will curve more sharply. Do the same for the 3-petal flower. It will form a cone shape. Step 6 Step 7 Do the same with the 2-petal flower, and also furl out the outer left edge. Roll the right edge of the shape towards the left edge to form a tight cone shape, and bend the left edge back a bit to create the furl as shown. Place a little hot glue along the outer right edge and glue in place to secure.
Step 7 Step 8 Cut the tip off the one petal shape as shown. Step 8 Step 9 Roll the right edge of the petal around the tip of the Paper-Piercing Tool. Step 9a Step 9b
Step 10 You should now have a 5-petal flower, a 4-petal flower, a 3-petal flower, a 2-petal flower, and a 1-petal flower like those pictured. Step 10 Step 11 Use the handle of the Paper-Piercing Tool to curl the petals of the 5-petal, 4-petal, and 3-petal flowers outwards as pictured. Step 11 Step 12 Place a little hot glue in the center of the 5-petal flower. Hold the 4-petal flowers in place until the glue dries (about 30 seconds). Do this again to glue the 3-petal flower into the 4-petal flower. Place a little hot glue on the bottom of the 2-petal flower and hold it in place within the 3-petal flower until the glue dries. Do this again with the single, rolled petal to complete the rose.
Step 12a Step 12b Step 13 Use the Little Leaves Sizzlits die and Big Shot to cut the 2-1/4 x 2/1/2 piece of Certainly Celery card stock. Glue in place as pictured. Use hot glue to glue the rose in place. Hold the rose in place until the glue dries. Place a small amount of Sticky Strip along both sides of the tip of the cake. Fold the 24 piece of Chocolate Chip 5/8 satin ribbon in half. Place the ribbon along the Sticky Strip. Tie the ribbon into a bow. Step 13 Step 14 Cut pieces of Pink Pirouette, Chocolate Chip, Rose Red, and Very Vanilla Patterns Designer Series Paper (DSP) into 1 x 3 pieces. Secure one end of the DSP to the bottom of a Hershey Nugget with a Mini Glue Dot. Wrap the DSP around and secure the other side of the DSP to the bottom of the candy. Step 14
Step 15 Cut the following pieces: (1) Pink Pirouette textured card stock 6 x 9-1/8 (1) Chocolate Chip card stock 1-1/2 x 11 (1) Chocolate Chip card stock 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 (1) Whisper White card stock ¾ x 11 (1) Whisper White card stock 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 Step 16 Score the Pink Pirouette textured card stock along the 9-1/4 side at 4-3/8 and 8-3/4. Turn and score the 6 side at 3/8. Note: Score lines are marked in black in the picture for better visibility. Step 16 Step 17 Cut and remove some of the flaps as shown below. Cut the remaining flaps at a 45 degree angle and place Sticky Strip along the flaps. Step 17
Step 18 Fold along score lines with a Bone Folder. Use the Sticky Strip to glue down the flaps. Use the 1-1/4 Circle punch to cut a half circle through both layers at the top of the envelope. Step 18 Step 19 Cut the ¾ x 11 piece of Whisper White card stock with the Scallop Edge Border punch. Adhere to the 1-1/2 x 11 piece of Chocolate Chip card stock with SNAIL adhesive. Step 19 Step 20 Wrap the belly band around the envelope and adhere at the back with SNAIL adhesive. Tie the 14 length of Rose Red ¼ grosgrain ribbon around the belly band and finish with a square knot tied to the front.
Step 20 Step 21 Cut the 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 piece of Whisper White card stock with the Big Shot and Top Note die. Use a Jet Black StazOn ink pad to stamp the Top Note cut out with the bottle stamp, the bib stamp, the rattle stamp, and the date/time/place stamp. Stamp a scrap piece of Whisper White card stock with the onesie stamp. Using a Blender Pen and Rose Red, So Saffron, Baja Breeze, Certainly Celery, and Pink Pirouette Classic Stampin Pads, color the images as shown. Use Paper Snips to cut out the onesie (cut the hanger off). Bend one end of the 1 piece of jewelry wire with needle nose pliers as shown. Attach the wire down to the back of the onesie with Sticky Strip as shown. Step 21a Step 21b
Step 22 Cut a tag out of a scrap of Whisper White card stock using the Big Shot and Lots of Tags Sizzlits die. Stamp with the bundle of love stamp and Chocolate Chip ink. Adhere to the outside of the envelope with Stampin Dimensionals. Place a Stampin Dimensional on the back of the onesie and adhere to the front of the envelope. Use SNAIL adhesive to adhere the Top Note die to the 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 piece of Chocolate Chip card stock. Step 22
