How to use the catalog All dimensions in this catalog are metric, with the exception of the paneling pages. Single profiles can be purchased in full length as well as in custom lengths. Profiles can also be ordered as full length bundles for a special, discounted price. Order number system The numbering system is used to identify cut-to-length as well as stock length profiles. This allows you to easily select the in stock items that enable you to begin your application quickly. Symbols used for base dimensions and T-slot widths The symbols shown describe the profile series. The base dimension shows the square dimension of the smallest profile of the series. Larger profiles are always a multiple of the base dimension. The distance between two parallel T-slots is also equal to the base dimension. Each base dimension is associated with a standard T-slot width. Symbols used for screws The symbols shown describe the recommended dimensions of the screws (thread and screw length). If special screws are required for the function, the appropriate norm is stated along with the screw symbol. Unlike other systems, mk is a proponent of the cut and assemble philosophy. Therefore, simply cut to the needed length, bolt together finished. Besides cutting the profiles to the desired lengths, you may at most need a standard hand drill and/or tap. You do not need to purchase expensive specialty tools. The user can easily cut to length, prepare, and assemble the profiles them selves. The mk production team would, of course, be happy to take on this task for you. mk Profile Technology 17

Working with the profile technology construction kit 1. Selecting the profile The mk 2000 profile system consists of four profile series that are compatible with each other and are designed for different applications. The choice of profile series will depend on the type of application, the load-bearing capacity and design requirements as well as the spatial conditions on site. See the table below for more detailed information. 2. Selecting the connectors mk connection technology offers you freedom in design. Both 90 connections and variable angle connections can be used, based on your application requirements. The following table lists the most important criteria for selecting the right connector for your design. mk does not require, for example, any system-specific screws in its construction kit. Profile Connectors Advantages Angles mk Angles are manufactured from extruded aluminum profiles 6063 T5 (AlMgSi 0.7 F28) and are milled for a precise fit. They have a tumbled surface finish. mk Angles are our most popular connection method. They offer superior strength and value and do not require any additional machining. The mounting hardware for the mk angle is made up of a DIN socket head cap screw, a ribbed washer and an mk nut. Use of ribbed washers in conjunction with socket or hex screws are required for mk products. Keyed Angles Angles are milled to have a 1 mm step that would protrude into the T-slot. All profiles are chemically etched per E6, whereby surface grooves and roughness are removed. As a surface treatment the profiles are anodized with appx. 10 µm of tint C0 (natural). Detail C page 156 Cylinder Lock B68.02.051 The lock is designed for installation in mk 54.01 and 54.40 profiles. This requires profile services 5401BC and 5440BC, whereby specifications must be made regarding both the total length of the profile and the distance from the bottom end of the profile up to the bottom edge of the lock. The profile cylinder is installed by pressing it through the profile opening in the keeper, then secured by tightening the included hardware. The casters have a load bearing capacity of 135 lbs. The swivel casters have a brake. The use of a rib washer is absolutely necessary. Hinge 40 B46.01.030 The hinge is mounted between two profiles using flat head socket head cap screws (FH-SHCS) and nuts. The appropriate mounting hardware is included with all hinges. It is inserted into the series 40 T-slot and turned 45. The paneling must include a 9 mm hole at each location. The paneling is then attached using M8 flanged button head screws and nuts. The paneling can be installed without gaps between it and the profile frame. Attachment - Angles This method is suitable for paneling from 1/16 mm to 1/4. The metal sheet edging provides the necessary support for a side length of up to 48. Panel blocks B34.01.003 are required for longer lengths. The angles must have an M8 thread placed in the side. All commonly used angles can also be purchased with the necessary mounting hardware as a set of components. The order number for the E25 angle with hardware is T82.40.0701. Detail C page 68 Pneumatic Component B56.01.400 / B56.01.402 The interior of many of the series profiles, i.e., mk 54.02, can be used to store compressed air. To access compressed air, a ø 8 mm hole must be made in the middle of the profile on the T-slot side and an outflow plate mounted at this location. It is sealed with an O-ring.
