Cut out small quarter-circle and large and small curved corner pieces referring to the cutting list above for fabrics and number to cut of gold, white and light green pieces. 5. Fold each small curved corner piece in half and lightly crease to mark the center of the curved edge. Repeat with the small quarter-circle pieces. 6. Referring to the diagrams on the next page, sew a small gold quarter-circle piece to a small light green curved corner piece, carefully matching outer edges and the creased centers and easing the curves when stitching. Clip the seam allowance of the curve almost to the stitching line. Press seam allowance toward the quarter-circle piece to complete (1) 4" x 4" gold unit. Repeat to make 12 gold units. Repeat steps 3 and 4, trimming away both orange background and the overlapped section of the small block. 7. In the same manner add the large block and the small panel rectangle referring to the cover quilt for positioning and placing the small panel 2 1/2" from the bottom edge and 3" from the right edge of the orange background. 8. Sew the (3) 1" x WOF dark green strips short ends together to make a long strip. Press seams open. Cut into (2) 54 1/2" strips. 9. Press the 1" x 54 1/2" and 1" x 37 1/2" dark green strips in half lengthwise with wrong sides together to make 1/2"-wide folded strips. 10. Place the 54 1/2" folded strips on top of the long side edges of the orange background with raw edges aligned and the folds toward the appliquéd center. Pin to hold. Repeat with the 37 1/2" folded strips on the top and bottom edges. Machine-baste in place 1/8" from the edge all around. Remove pins. 11.
