Hello, October is here, mark your calendar for the meeting Thursday October 12th and bring a friend. Our long distance member Joanne Miller sent pin cushions and a pillowcase to inspire us all. Plan to join the Wednesday girls in the meeting room to work on guild projects or your own projects. Serger Workshop 2 is on October 14th, 9am to noon. Come to learn tips for operation of sergers and a 3-thread projects. Sew and tell & the September program was fun and inspiring. Our Facebook page is a great place to share your finished projects. Community Projects Hospital Baby Quilts The guild is continuing to work on quilts for babies & children in the hospital. And pillowcases It s a good feeling to give to those in need. Project for this Year Lisa Hoffman presented her completed row by row quilt. She also demonstrated the folded square in a square. All received packets with fabric. These will be made into baby quilts for the hospital. Blocks are due at the November meeting. Websites of interest Half Square Triangle Paper Patterns http://www.quiltingandwhatnot.ca/half- Square-Triangle.html To purchase fabrics online: http://www.marshalldrygoods.com/ https://www.fabric.com/ https://www.fabricdepot.com/ https://www.fashionfabricsclub.com/ Creamy Squash Casserole Ingredients 1 (2 pound) butternut squash - peeled, seeded, and cut into 1/2-inch cubes 1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of chicken soup 1 cup sour cream 1/3 cup butter, melted 2 carrots, shredded 1/2 cup finely chopped onion 2 1/2 cups herb-seasoned dry stuffing mix Directions Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 7x11-inch baking dish. Bring a pot of lightly salted water to a boil; stir in squash cubes. Reduce heat to low; simmer squash until slightly softened, about 3 minutes. Drain and set aside. Mix cream of chicken soup, sour cream, butter, carrots, and onion in a bowl until thoroughly combined; stir in 2 cups of stuffing mix and the squash. Transfer to prepared baking dish. Sprinkle top of casserole with remaining 1/2 cup of stuffing mix. Bake in the preheated oven until bubbling and squash is tender, about 25 minutes.
