If no, free resisors are provided wih he daa converer. If he converer is locaed a a poin along he daa line, erminaion will y be required in he wo ACU's a each end of he line. From s July 007, his high speed inerface was supplied as he sandard uni. Some insallaions had experienced problems when Ne was combined wih a 00 Mbi/s neworks running high levels of broadcas nework raffic. This uni suppors daa ransfer of 00 Mbi/s using Full Duplex proocol. 4

Depending on he specific deails of he Eherne nework, you may be able o deec he Eherne inerface, simply by clicking Deec. If his doesn' find i, hen you will have o Click 'Add' and ener he IP Address manually. The uni suppors DHCP, which means ha a DHCP server can issue is IP address. Alernaively, he IP address can be manually enered. The recommended mehod of obaining an IP address is by DHCP. A reservaion should be made in he DHCP server, o ensure ha he same IP address is issued each ime, should he uni be rese. Consul your nework adminisraor on deail of how o reserve IP addresses. The uni's MAC address can be read from inside he plasic enclosure, and will be required by he adminisraor o ener he reservaion. The lis box, a he op of he nodes ab, will lis all of he unis ha have eiher been found or manually enered. There is a check box nex o each enry, which allows each uni o be enabled or disabled. You can es ha he unis are responding, by selecing hem and clicking he Ping buon.

How do I give he device an IP address? Ne AN006 If he Eherne nework does no have a DHCP server, hen he IP address mus be se manually, using he Ne Server Configuraion Uiliy. Selec he IP address configuraion ab. The nework adminisraor should be able o advise you on suiable values o use. Check he 'Use he following IP address' buon and ener he chosen address in he box. This will fix he IP address of he inerface. Naming Eherne inerfaces The rename buon can be used o give an inerface a meaningful name in he sysem. This can be especially useful when more han one inerface is used, as he name will appear in he doors screen wihin Ne showing which ACU's are conneced o which daa line, helping in any fuure faul finding process. Advanced ab of config uiliy laency can be amended for sies wih slow or busy neworks. The advanced opions should y be changed following advice from Paxon Technical Suppor 6

Ne AN006 V recommended On sies wih high levels of broadcas raffic (CCTV, ec) his opion is highly recommended and should be implemened wherever possible. V's allow adminisraors o se up heir neworks by logically grouping devices. IP addresses, subne masks, and local nework proocols require fewer local server resources in his environmen. Services can be more effecively deployed when hey span buildings wihin a single V. See also: AN08 - Recommendaions for using Ne wih and WAN neworks. < hp://paxon.info/970 > Connecion over a Wide-Area (WAN) If you are connecing he inerface o a WAN or o a nework wih a differen subne, you mus firs fix he remoe IP address, subne mask and reurn gaeway in he uni before aking i o he remoe sie. The PC ha has he Ne server insalled mus be able o access he IP address range on he WAN\remoe sie. This may require he rouers and gaeways o be configured beween he neworks. Again, his would be done by he I.T\ adminisraor of ha sie. Once insalled, use he Add buon o creae a record in he nodes able (if none was creaed during iniial se-up) and you should hen be able o deec is MAC by enering he IP address in he Configuraion screen Ping box. Connecing o he PC direcly The Ne plus uni can be conneced o he PC via a sandard nework pach. If you need o connec your PC/Lapop direcly o a Eherne Inerface, you mus use a crossover insead of a sandard nework pach lead. Troubleshooing If you deec he MAC address bu he device now shows 'No Responding', check he IP address o make sure i is sill in range wih he PC or nework. If i is no, you should eiher change he PC's IP address or he Eherne inerface's IP address so hey are boh again in he same range. r Technical eam can alk you hrough his if you need help.
