Mon 1/13/14 A2, A3 Art 1 Warm up: Write down these Metal techniques: 1. Directions: Draw, Push, Flip & Flatten 2. Convex (pops out): Push out from the back 3. Concave (pushed in): Push in from the front 4. Neutral (flat): Flatten and smooth on front. Metal Steps: Show me your 3 sketches for a grade. 1. Trace your 6x8 paper onto the 6x8 metal 2. Practice tooling techniques on the small metal. 3. Take the paper off & begin tooling FLIP & FLATTEN 4. Show me when you think you are done & I will give you more tips to make it better. 5. Ink Mask, let dry, Sand with steel wool, Create background 6. Make your background, Sand off ink with Steel Wool, Hot glue on background. 7. Fill out gradesheet & start next assignments. Painting Mask with India Ink Sharpie your name on the back before you ink Paint India ink all over your entire mask. Let dry on newspaper on back counter While it is drying begin your construction paper background. Then sand off steel wool with small circular motions. Leave some black in the concave crevasses and let the top convex parts be silver!
Background Directions for Mask: Plan out designs or simple patterns to cut out and glue on black or white poster board. Use Elmers Glue to glue biggest to smallest pieces. Then HOT GLUE metal mask onto the center. Be careful. Glue & metal get very hot!
When finished with mask: 1. Tribal mask design tape in your skbk and draw the other half. 2. Cultural Mask sketch with descriptive paragraph about the culture. 3. Native American masks 4. Superhero Mask sketch 5. Social Mask collage 6. Make a mask on paint shop or power point
