In the month of April Kirstin Gillon, Technical Manager from the ICAEW IT Faculty visited Vietnam, Myanmar, Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia on a Thought Leadership Roadshow, sharing her knowledge and expertise on cyber security and how to keep one step ahead, and the importance of managing risk in a digital world. It was a great opportunity for our stakeholders in South East Asia to hear an expert in her field discuss digital technology and how it is transforming businesses, economies and societies globally. Vietnam 4-5 April In Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) Andrew Ratcliffe, ICAEW President and Kirstin Gillon was accompanied by Trang Dang, ICAEW Head of Vietnam to meet and present to various stakeholders. This includes a roundtable discussion with senior staff at the State Audit Vietnam (SAV); co-hosting business luncheons with British Business Group in Vietnam (BBGV) for 60 senior managers, leaders and business owners; jointly organised workshops with IBM and EY and they also met with ICAEW students in both cities. Myanmar 7-8 April In Yangon, Kirstin Gillon met and presented to the staff and members of the Myanmar Institution of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA), and at Win Thin & Associates she presented to 70 senior partners and staff from its audit and tax department. The final stop in Yangon was at UTW (a member firm of EY). A roundtable discussion was held at UTW and was attended by partners and staff members of the firm. Singapore 12-13 April 2016 The roadshow continued in Singapore at the Tower Club. Over 30 guests and members of ICAEW and CAANZ listened to and discussed with Kirstin Gillon on the latest IT trends; the impact of cyber security, managing risks in the digital world. Kirstin gave a presentation to members and staff at Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA); thereafter she went on to share her expertise with senior staff members at ABN Amro Bank. She also had the opportunity to meet with ICAEW ACA students at a student networking event before ending the Singapore roadshow at Nanyang Technological University to meet and present to its accounting and finance undergraduates. Malaysia 14 15 APRIL 2016 In Kuala Lumpur, Kirstin met with UNITAR undergraduates, ICAEW students and members, members of Malaysia Institute of Accountants (MIA) and CAANZ as well as Astro and Cheng & Co. who are ICAEW s authorised training employers (ATE). Kirstin discussed the changing global IT landscape, specifically on how to manage risk in a digital world and the relationship between digital disruption and accounting. Kirstin also shared about new trends in the technology space including Bockchain and FinTech. Together with Deny Poerhadiyanto, ICAEW Head of Indonesia and Mark Billington, ICAEW Regional Director, they met and presented to Ikatan Akuntan Indonesia (IAI) and ICAEW members. After which the ICAEW team had a roundtable discussion with staff of the Supreme Audit Board (SAB), and the roadshow concluded at Trisakti School of Management (TSM) and Universitas Indonesia where students listened and learned from ICAEW what global IT trends mean to business.
