With the exceptin f the HF52 (always 4 20 ma), the type f signal can be selected with the ROTRONIC HW4 sftware t any f the fllwing: 0 20 ma, 4 20 ma, 0 1V, 0 5V r 0 10V (see 4.3). 3.5 Digital utputs Mdels with a digital utput can simultaneusly transmit 3 parameters: relative humidity, temperature and calculated parameter a) RS-485 serial interface Sme mdels f the HF5 are equipped with a RS-485 serial interface. This can be used t cnnect tgether up t 64 devices in a multi-drpped arrangement. In principle, an unlimited number f such netwrks can be mnitred with the HW4 sftware, but each RS-485 multi-drp netwrk is limited t 64 devices. The HF5 can be used either as a slave r a master, withut special cnfiguratin. The master is autmatically the device that is directly cnnected t a PC by means f a USB prt r Ethernet (TCP/IP) prt. RS-485 Cmpatibility: The cmmunicatin prtcl used by the HF5 and ther AirChip 3000 prducts is nt cmpatible with the prtcl used by the previus generatin f ROTRONIC instruments. D nt cnnect legacy prducts and AirChip 3000 prducts t the same RS-485 multi-drp netwrk. b) USB r Ethernet interface Sme mdels f the HF5 are available with a USB r Ethernet interface in additin t the RS-485 interface. In this case the prtectin grade f the HF5 enclsure is n lnger IP65 / NEMA 4 rated.

Page 8 f 36 3.6 Service cnnectr The service cnnectr is a UART digital interface (Universal Asynchrnus Receiver Transmitter) with a mini- USB type cnnectr. This allws cnnecting the HF5 with a service cable t a PC running the ROTRONIC HW4 sftware. See Maintenance fr the lcatin f the service cnnectr and fr the type f service cable t be used. The service cnnectr is used t cnfigure the HF5 and t and update its firmware with the HW4 sftware. Nte: any digital utput (USB, Ethernet and RS-485) ffers the same functinality as the service cnnectr. 3.7 Prbe The HF5 is cmpatible with all available mdels f HygrClip 2 prbes. Fr detailed infrmatin n the prbes see dcument E-M-HC2 Prbes-V1. 3.8 HW4 sftware versin cmpatibility The HF5 versin 2 requires HW4 versin 3.0.0 r higher fr full functinality f the Device Manager functin. 4 User cnfigurable settings and functins The HF5 ships cnfigured as specified n the custmer rder. Mdels with analg utputs nly can be installed and used just as any cnventinal humidity and temperature transmitter and mst users will never need t use the HF5 cnfigurable settings and functins. Mdels with a digital utput generally require sme cnfiguratin by the user. Making use f the HF5 and prbe cnfigurable settings and functins is entirely up t the user and the apprpriate settings depend n the user applicatin. We have prvided belw a shrt descriptin f the HF5 and prbe functins and als indicated the factry default settings. 4.1 Functin verview MEASUREMENT ACCURACY AND RELIABILITY (PROBE FUNCTIONS) AirChip 3000 Functins Humidity / temperature adjustment Autmatic humidity sensr test and ptinal drift cmpensatin 1-pint r multi-pint humidity calibratin r adjustment 1-pint r 2-pint temperature calibratin r adjustment Generate a time stamp fr calibratins and adjustments Retain and view last adjustment date and adjustment values Generate calibratin and adjustment prtcls Tests the humidity sensr fr drift caused by cntaminants and can be used t autmatically apply a crrectin. After finding the HF5 with HW4, expand the device tree t see the HF5 functins. Select Device Manager. Fr further instructins see HW4 manual E-M-HW4v3-F2-005 N adjustment is required after changing the type f utput signal. 5 Mechanical installatin 5.1 General guidelines Relative humidity is extremely dependent n temperature. Prper measurement f relative humidity requires that the prbe and its sensrs be at exactly the temperature f the envirnment t be measured. Because f this, the lcatin where yu chse t install the prbe can have a significant effect n the perfrmance f the instrument. The fllwing guidelines shuld guarantee gd instrument perfrmance: a) Select a representative lcatin: install the prbe where humidity, temperature and pressure cnditins are representative f the envirnment t be measured. b) Prvide gd air mvement at the prbe: air velcity f at least 200 ft/ minute (1 meter/secnd) facilitates adaptatin f the prbe t changing temperature. c) Avid the fllwing: (1) Clse prximity f the prbe t a heating element, a cling cil, a cld r ht wall, direct expsure t sun rays, etc. (2) Clse prximity f the prbe t a steam injectr, humidifier, direct expsure t precipitatin, etc. (3) Unstable pressure cnditins resulting frm excessive air turbulence. d) Immerse as much f the prbe as pssible in the envirnment t be measured.

Page 12 f 36 e) Prevent the accumulatin f cndensatin water at the level f the sensr leads. Install the prbe s that the prbe tip is lking dwnward. If this is nt pssible, install the prbe hrizntally. 5.2 HF5 enclsure The HF5 enclsure cnsists f a base and a cver held tgether with 4 screws. T pen the enclsure, use a metric 2.5 mm r 3 mm hex key. This is a DIN-rail munting kit cnsisting f 2 clamps that attach t the back f the enclsure with the screws prvided. 6 Electrical installatin 6.1 General wiring guidelines Pwer supply wiring Heavy machinery and instrumentatin shuld nt share the same pwer supply wiring. If this cannt be avided, nise filters and surge prtectrs shuld be used. Mst UPS devices have thse features already integrated. General guidelines fr signal cables The fllwing guidelines are derived frm Eurpean Standard EN 50170 fr the transmissin f signals by cpper wires. When planning an installatin, the rules prvided by EN 50170 shuld be fllwed under cnsideratin f lcal circumstances t determine the psitin f machines and equipment. All ROTRONIC prducts are tested fr Electrmagnetic Cmpatibility accrding t EMC Directive 2004/106/EG and fllwing Eurpean standards: - EN 61000-6-1: 2001, EN 61000-6-2: 2005 - EN 61000-6-3: 2005, EN 61000-6-4: 2001 + A11 Whenever the level f electrmagnetic interference is expected t be high, bth the instruments and signal cables shuld be placed as far away as pssible frm the surce f interference. In general, signal cables shuld be installed in bundles r channels / cnduits, separate frm ther cables as indicated in the table belw:
