Page 3 Hi There Card The colors led me in the direction of vintage for this project. I found the picture at Vintage Resources www.art-e-zine.co.uk/vintageresources.html. This is a great site with tons of cool vintage photos. I picked the photo I liked, framed it, and used pop dots to give it some height. Next was to choose the paper from the kit that matched lots of choices!! Then, I cut out one of the tags and printed on a piece of the vellum and layered those for the greeting. Next, I set out to capture the flowers in the picture with quilling. I used the little punched out circles from the frame to add to the flower see them tucked in? Last, I topped the card off with three of the large adhesive dots. Mono Egg (No salmonella!) I went to check on my eggs in the fridge after all of the talk on the news and one thing led to another. I ended up with a monochromatic quilled egg. The white, off white and egg shell colors of the quilling strips worked great for this project. I experimented with some different flower techniques. Can you see them? By the way have I told you that I really like to decorate eggs? LOL Egg Stand
con t from pg3 Page 4 Perpetual Calendar: This little box is one I have had laying around here for a while; all I had to get was the wooden blocks. I did have to SAND them down to fit. I painted the box and blocks with acrylic paint, then added the papers from the kit with decoupage using two or three coats. I found some stickers in my stash for the numbers on the blocks. I added quilling to the inside of the box top to hold the month pages in place. For the month pages I cut six bases from the brown paper and 12 of the decorative papers. Next I printed out the months on some clear sticker paper, cut those out, and added them to the decorative papers, putting one on each side of the brown bases. You could print them directly to the paper on your computer or use stamps and ink. On the outside of the box, I used the organdy ribbon to tie around with the little pearls added for interest. The top is where your creativity comes.add flowers or whatever other design you like I used flowers. These would be great inexpensive gifts for teachers, coworkers or as bazaar items. Mini Tag Album: With all of the tags included this month I just had to use some! For this project I cut out the tags and backed them with some of the other decorative papers to jazz up the back side and to give them a bit more thickness. You could even sandwich some thin chip board in between too. Next punch a hole in each tag so that you can insert a metal ring or tie with ribbon or both! Then decorate the pages however you like and add pictures of your favorite subject to share with others. This little album is easily tucked into a purse, so sharing is easy and what mom or grandma doesn t like a brag book! Tag Album Cover Inside Tags
Page 5 Note Card Set When I saw the beautiful array of patterned papers in this month s kit I wanted to use as many as possible in the projects and had a hard time choosing just the four for these cards. There is enough to make matching envelopes also. These 4 x 4 note cards are a quick and easy way to share the beauty of quilling. I used the cream quilling strips in the kit for the three flowers and used the white pearls for their centers. Mum Note Pad I found this cute note pad at my local craft store with this month s kit in mind and will make a gift for my daughter. The shades of black, grey, cream and white compliment the note pad perfectly. I wanted to try a flower with more of a 3D shape and decided to do a mum. Curved teardrops make up the layers of petals on a card stock base. The white, open center petals on the accent flowers were quilled around a bamboo skewer. Again I used the tiny pearls from the kit to do the final embellishing.
con t from pg5 Page 6 Ecclesiastes 3:1 I was drawn to the clock background paper in the kit for this quilled verse and it was the inspiration for the clock as well as my choice for the verse. I used several light cream strips to make the face of the clock and then made tight coils and s shapes for the outside rim and peaks. The black pearls in the kit are used for the numbers. I popped it up off the background to give it more dimension. The quilled flowers give it a tone on tone softness as well as the vellum accent flower with their pearl centers. It will be framed and displayed in my home.
Sue This month has some very classic colors in the kit black, grays, browns, off whites and white. This color combo is great for so many applications, such as masculine, feminine, vintage, rustic, or even a classic feel. With the HUGE amount of pretty printed papers, quilling strips, ribbon, printed tags, and adhesive pearls, you would have enough products to try all of those designs! Page 7 Reviews Sonya I loved creating the projects with the supplies in this month s kit. There are SOOO many beautiful designer papers that it is hard to decide which ones to use first. The accent pearls in black and white will give a subtle bling to your quilling, card making, or scrapbook projects. The shades of black, grey, cream, and white strips will give you opportunity to design tone on tone or dramatic contrasting quilling. I m sure you will have fun with the kit! My work features Quilling (paper filigree) a centuries old craft of rolling or twirling paper. The art was born over five hundred years ago with artists discovering that strips of paper could be rolled, scrolled, fringed, and shaped into designs. I have been quilling for four years and truly love the craft. Some designs are my original creations. Quilling is very versatile; it can hang on a wall, decorate a card or box, and even make your Christmas tree special. Hopefully you ll enjoy my creations and your day will be a little brighter because of them. Stop by her Blog to see all her wonderful creations! http://quillcentre.blogspot.com/
