Pick Your Poison: Haunted House Treat Box, Luminary, Charm Bracelet and Gift Tag Designed By: Kris Kilkenny September 2011 These Halloween projects make cute gifts for your best friend or that special teacher. Fill the haunted house treat box with goodies and pair it with this sinister charm bracelet. The silver spider web luminary doubles as a Fancy Favor container. Embellish it with this festive gift tag. Instructions Step 1 Create the haunted house treat container by die cutting a 6 x 8 piece of Basic Black textured card stock with the Mini Milk Carton Bigz XL die. Fold the mini milk carton into place and secure the top and sides with Sticky Strip. Fill the carton with treats and secure the bottom with Sticky Strip. Step 2 Create the roof for the haunted house by cutting a 2 x 4 piece of Basic Black card stock. Fold in half.
Step 2 Step 3 Using a Big Shot and the Scallop Rectangle Clearlits die, cut out seven rectangles from the gray piece of Pick Your Poison Designer Series Paper (DSP). Cut them in half, horizontally as show in the photo below. Step 3 Step 4 Ink the edges of the halves of the rectangle pieces using a Sponge Dauber and a Basic Black Stampin Pad. Layer and glue seven pieces on each side of the roof using an Anywhere Glue Stick. Start at the bottom and work your way up. When you get to the last piece, cut it off even with the top of the roof. Step 4
Step 5 Create ten windows for the haunted house by punching out six pieces of the graph piece of the Pick Your Poison DSP with the Word Window Punch. Make sure to line up the top of the punch, so that the lines look like a window pane. Cut these to 1/4". Ink the edges using a Sponge Dauber and a Basic Black Stampin Pad. Step 5 Step 6 Punch out seven pieces of the gray sheet of the Pick Your Poison DSP (the same pattern that you used for the roof) using the Modern Label Punch. Glue the windows to the ends of the modern label piece using Multipurpose Liquid Glue. Cut them out and adhere four windows on each side and two windows on the back. Do not attach any windows to the front of the house (we will make this piece in the next step). Step 6 Step 7 To create the front door, use the back of one of the pieces you punched out with the Word Window punch and glue this to the grey modern label punched piece, adding a window above it. Cut off the bottom. Attach a Basic Rhinestone as a doorknob. Glue to the front of the haunted house. Punch out two spiders from the Pick Your Poison DSP using the ½ Circle punch, attach a Basic Rhinestone to the body of the spider, ink the edges using a Sponge Dauber and Basic Black Stampin Pad. Glue one on the front and one to the back of the house, under the roof.
Step 7 Step 8 Create the BOO banner for the haunted house by punching out three small pennants with the Petite Pennants Builder punch using Silver Glimmer Paper. Punch holes in the top corners using a Paper-Piercing Tool. Sew a piece of White Baker s Twine through the holes. Die cut out the letters, BOO using scraps of Pumpkin Pie card stock and the Billboard Sizzlits Decorative Strip die. Glue the letters to the pennants. Attach the pennant to the roof of the haunted house using Mini Glue Dots. Step 9 Create the spider web luminary by die cutting a 6 x 12 piece of Silver Glimmer paper with the Fancy Favor Bigz XL die. Attach the favor box with Sticky Strip. Punch a hole in the front of the favor box using the 2-½ Circle punch. Save this piece for the tag. Emboss a piece of Vellum card stock with the Spider Web embossing folder. Cut out a 2-¾ x 2-¾ square of the spider web. Attach this to the inside of the favor box, covering the hole with Sticky Strip on the sides. Stamp the spider from the Piece of Poison stamp set in Basic Black Classic Ink on to a scrap of Whisper White card stock. Cut out the spider using Paper Snips and attach to the front of the luminary using Mini Glue Dots. Step 9 Step 10 Create the charm bracelet using the following items: one Simply Adorned 8 Bracelet, two Simply Adorned 5/8 Square Charms, three Simply Adorned 5/8 Circle Charms, one Simply Adorned Black Crystal Bauble, and three Simply Adorned Vanilla Pearls.
Step 11 Create the charm inserts using the Pick Your Poison Quick Accent stickers and Pick Your Poison DSP. The example photo below shows the Quick Accent stickers on the left column and the designer paper on the right. Using the ½ Circle punch, punch out three shapes of the DSP for the front of the charm, and three shapes of the stickers for the back. Peel off the back of the sticker and attach it to the charm. Cut out two ¼ x ¼ squares of the DSP for the front of the charm, and two squares for the back of the charm. Peel off the back of the sticker and attach it to the charm. Embellish with a Basic Rhinestone on one side of the charm. Tie some small pieces of Pumpkin Pie 1/8 taffeta ribbon to the charms. Step 11 Step 12 Create a festive tag using the 2-½ circle of Silver Glimmer paper that you punched out for the luminary in Step 8. Create a rosette by cutting out a 1-¼ x 12 piece of the graph paper from the Pick Your Poison DSP. Using the Simply Scored tool, score the front every ½. Turn the paper over and score the back every ¼ Step 11 Step 13 Accordion fold this piece and attach the ends with Sticky Strip.
Step 13 Step 14 Attach the small round sticker from the Pick your Poison Quick Accents to the front of the silver glitter circle and punch a hole in the center with a Crop-A-Dile. Tie an 18 piece of Pumpkin Pie 1/8 taffeta ribbon through the hole. Attach to the rosette with Sticky Strip. Step 14
