And note that some information is italicized when it refers to specific colorways. 1. First (dimensional) border. Press each 1" wide Fabric 2 strip lengthwise in half with wrong sides together. Trim each strip to measure 24 ½" long. Place a strip on each long side of the 18 ½" x 24 ½" Fabric 1 piece with raw edges aligned and the folded edge toward the center. Baste in place 1/8" away from the raw edge. Trim the remaining folded strip into (2) 18 ½" long strips, then baste to the other sides of the Fabric 1 piece in the same manner. 2. Center Medallion. Sew a 1 ½" x 24 ½" Fabric 3 strip to each long side of the Fabric 1 piece, sandwiching the dimensional border strips. Press the Fabric 3 strips open, leaving the dimensional border on top of Fabric 1 centerpiece. Repeat on the other sides with the 1 ½" x 20 ½" Fabric 3 strips. The center medallion measures 20 ½" x 26 ½". 3. Sew (2) 2 ½" x WOF strips Fabric 9 strips and the 2 ½" x 20" Fabric 9 strip diagonally together to make one long strip. Cut (4) 22 ½" lengths (for the A strips in step 4). 4. A, B, and C strips. Using 2 ½" squares, sew a Fabric 2 square to a Fabric 4 square. Noting placement in the A Strip Diagram, stitch a 2 ½" x 22 ½" Fabric 9 for the teal colorway and a Fabric 8 strip for the purple colorway to this unit to make a 2 ½" x 26 ½" A strip. Make 2 A strips. In the same manner and referring to the B Strip Diagram, sew Fabric 2, 4, and 5 squares together, then stitch a 2 ½" x 20 ½" Fabric 9 for the teal colorway and a Fabric 8 strip for the purple colorway to this unit to make a 2 ½" x 26 ½" B strip. Make 2 B strips. For the C strips: Teal colorway, sew Fabric 2, 4, 5, and 6 squares together. Stitch a 2 ½" x 18 ½" Fabric 9 strip to this unit to make 2 ½" x 26 ½" C strip. Make 2 C strips. Purple colorway, sew Fabrics 2, 4, 5, and 3 together and use Fabric 8 for the 2 ½ x 18 ½ strips and proceed as above. 2

Using 2 ½" squares and noting fabric placement in the D Strip Diagram for your chosen colorway, sew the designated squares together, then stitch a 2 ½" x 22 ½" Fabric 9 for the teal colorway and Fabric 8 for the purple colorway strip to the Fabric 2 end to complete a 2 ½" x 32 ½" D strip. Make 2 D strips. In the same manner and referring to the E Strip Diagram for your chosen colorway, make (2) 2 ½" x 32 ½" E strips using the designated 2 ½" squares and the 2 ½" x 20 ½" Fabric 9 strips for the teal and Fabric 8 for the purple colorway. Referring to the F Strip Diagram for your chosen colorway, make (2) 2 ½" x 32 ½" F strips using the designated 2 ½" squares and the 2 ½" x 18 ½" Fabric 9 strips for the teal and Fabric 8 for the purple colorway. The quilt top measures 32 ½" x 38 ½". F E D 8. Outer border. Sew a 3 ½" x 38 ½" Fabric 10 (for teal colorway) Fabric 9 (for purple colorway) strip to each long side of the quilt top. Press seams toward the border. Sew a 3 ½" x 38 ½" Fabric 10 (teal)/fabric 9 (purple) strip to the top and bottom. Press seams toward the border. 3
Appliqué 1. Following manufacturer s instructions, apply fusible web to the wrong side of several Fabric 11 (teal colorway) Fabric 10 (purple colorway) sunflower motifs (use both single sunflowers and clusters of sunflowers). Cut the motifs out neatly. 2. Remove the paper backing and press the motifs to the quilt top as desired. Refer to the pattern cover for placement ideas. When pleased with the arrangement, fuse in place. You may edge stitch around the raw edges now or during quilting. By stitching on the sunflower and leaf outlines, the motifs will stand out. Quilting Suggestions 1. Outline around the sunflowers in the center medallion. Stitch in the ditch along the outer edge of the narrow border around the medallion. 2. Stitch a diagonal line through the center of all of the squares on the 2 corners of the quilt and continue that line into and through the outer border. 3. Outline the appliqued sunflowers. If they were only fused and not stitched onto the top, edge stitch them 1/8 inside the raw edge. Stitch an allover design such as a feather in the background. 4. Stitch in the ditch along the inside edge of the outer border. 4
Binding 1. Sew the (5) 2 ½" Fabric 10 (teal colorway) Fabric 9 (purple colorway) strips diagonally together to make one long strip. Press the strip lengthwise in half wrong sides together. 2. Align the raw edges of the folded binding with the raw edge of the quilt top. Leave an 8" tail and stitch, using a ¼" seam allowance all the way around, mitering the corners and stopping 8" from the starting point. Use your favorite method to join the ends and finish binding. 3. Bring the folded edge of the binding to the back of the quilt and stitch it in place with a blind hemstitch.
