PRESIDENT S LETTER Helen Salkowski Hello Fellow Stitchers, And Welcome Autumn! At least a hint of cooler weather has been in the Tucson air. And here in Show Low where I am as I write this, we awoke to 31 degrees! It did warm up to 70, perfect temperature for outdoor stitching. At last week s meeting Betsy presented previews of some very cool programs for next year, and we voted on our favorites. I m looking forward to all of them! Other items of interest from the meeting: BOARD CHANGES Sandy DeBolt is our new Newsletter Chairwoman, and Laura Cotter is our new Bylaws Chairwoman. Thank you to Barbara Lewis who has stepped down after many years of serving on the board in these positions. With all her extra time I expect we may see even MORE finished projects from Barb at the Show and Share table. Remember there is a prize given for the most completed projects in each calendar year. GAY PHILLIPS GRANT for Education Good news: We will receive funding from this Grant and matching funds from Pacific Southwest Region for our upcoming Group Correspondence Course Blue Heaven Temari. The funds will pay for the registration, the mailing, and will subsidize one half of the text cost. BIENNIAL SPRING LUNCHEON WITH ANG We are working on plans to make this happen. We are sharing the work with ANG members. On the EGA side we have a committee of four volunteers who will work on getting the ball rolling. Sandy DeBolt, Myldred Richardson, Laura Cotter, and Marian Hill - THANK YOU so much for taking the lead. Of course you will enlist help from the rest of us... Deciding on a speaker is one of the first tasks. So, if any of you have an idea for a speaker please speak up. I will be heading to Oxnard CA shortly to attend the PSR regional seminar and the PSR annual meeting. I m looking forward to my class with Deborah Mitek learning silk ribbon embroidery on painted Congress cloth. And I hope there will be some time for stitching on the beach... (continued next page)
I wish you all a generous allotment of stitching time this Fall, wherever you happen to be. Hope to see you at the November meeting. In the meantime...happy Stitching! Helen P.S. I just received this interesting news from the Phoenix EGA Chapter President:

BEADING Jane Matter We had lots of Halloween and Holiday beading options available at our meeting on Thursday, October 12 th. Several members worked on the snowflake bracelet using GemDuos beads. We also viewed several patterns and projects for the beading group to do at meetings in 2018. At out November 9 th meeting, we will have kits and designs for holiday decorations and earrings available. The fall beading workshop, "Beaded Scissor Case - Athabascan Style" (photo below) will be taught by Sharon Marchant on Thursday, November 30 at the Ellie Towne Flowing Wells Center in the meeting room where the board meets, from 9-4. Sharon has owned her store for 29 years and is an accomplished artist and beading instructor. The scissors case is 6 ½ (scissors not included). Cost is $45 for kit and teaching fee. Please sign up by November 2 and have your payment in by November 9. I will be at the next EGA general meeting November 2nd, and at the bead meeting on November 9th so you can pay me at those times. If you would prefer to mail me a check let me know, I'll send you my address or you can find it on the membership roster. Please make your checks out to "EGA - Tucson Chapter". Even though you have previously expressed an interest in the workshop, I need your firm commitment for the class so we can start putting the kits together. You have a choice of black or white leather background. I hope you are as excited about this as I am. EDUCATION Laura Cotter Temari Ball Class!
