Route 7 features shaded fabrics and a high-impact mini-stripe. The center medallion is made from four identical triangles cut from one of Jinny s signature border print fabrics. Suitable for the confident beginner and beyond. Please read the entire pattern before beginning; pattern assumes basic quiltmaking knowledge. All seam allowances are ¼-inch. Press all seams after sewing. WOF = Width of Fabric; LOF = Length of Fabric. Step 1: Make Templates & Cut the Fabrics Make the templates as instructed on pages 3-4. Fabrics 1-5. Cut two strips measuring 2" x 25". Fabric 6. Cut 12 strips the full LOF (about 27") incorporating a design stripe and all the black on both sides as illustrated. (This means that every other ½"-wide design stripe is not used.) Strips will measure 2" wide. Fabric 7. Using Template A and referring to the Note on Cutting Border Print patches on page 2, cut four identical triangles from the wide design stripes. Depending on the motif captured by the template, the triangles will look like one of the following. Step 4: Cut the Strip-Sets There are two strip-sets for each fabric: one strip-set will be used to cut two regular pieces using Template B/Br; the other will be used to cut two reversed pieces. In addition, the Fabric 6 design must match for all the regular B-pieces and for all the reversed (Br) pieces. This is actually quite simple to achieve! Regular Pieces. Place Template B/Br on the right side of a Fabric 1 strip-set. (The dashed line towards the center of the template should run along the strip-set seam.) As with Template A and Fabric 7 in Step 1, mark a portion of the fabric design onto the template. Mark around the template on the fabric. Reposition the template on the fabric to find a second identical area and mark around the template. Cut out the two pieces. Regular Reversed Pieces. Working with the second Fabric 1 strip-set, place Template B/Br marked side down on the fabric. Repeat the process as with the regular pieces to mark and cut two. Reversed Transfer the dots from the template to the wrong side of the fabric patches. Fabric 8. Reserve this fabric for binding the project. Step 2: Make the Center Half-Medallions Matching the dots and the fabric design, pin, then sew together two of the Fabric 7 triangles. Repeat to make a second pair. Transfer the dots from the template to the wrong side of the fabric pieces. Step 5: Cut the Remaining B/Br Pieces Using the two remaining Fabric 6 strips and Template B/Br, cut two regular and two reversed pieces. Be sure to line up the template markings with the fabric design so these pieces will be identical to the portion of Fabric 6 in the strip-sets. Step 3: Make the Strip-Sets Sew a Fabric 6 strip to each of the Fabric 1-5 strips, making a total of 10 strip-sets. It is very important that the design in Fabric 6 points away from the other strip, as illustrated here. The template will extend below the bottom of the Fabric 6 strips. Two Fabric 6 strips will remain. Strip-Sets. When sewing, ensure that the triangles in the stripe point away from the other fabric. Designed by Jinny Beyer 2017, RJR Fabrics Page 1

Step 6: Make Regular & Reversed Units Regular Units. Sew together regular Fabric 1-5 pieces from Step 4, plus a regular Fabric 6 piece from Step 5, as shown. Take care to match the dots and pin before sewing. Repeat to make a second regular unit. Regular F6 F5 F4 F3 F2 F1 Reversed Units. Repeat the process using the reversed pieces. Take care to match the dots and pin before sewing. Make two reversed units. Step 8: Finish the Project Layer the runner as follows: backing (wrong side up), batting, quilt top (right side up). Baste the layers together, and quilt as desired. When the quilting is completed, trim the backing and batting even with table runner edges. Bind the quilt using your favorite method and the reserved Fabric 8. (There is sufficient fabric for double-fold, straight grain binding with strips cut up to 2½" wide.) F1 F2 F3 F4 F5 F6 Reversed Step 7: Complete the Table Runner Top Regular Reversed Regular Reversed Sew a Regular and a Reversed unit to opposite sides of a half-medallion, matching the dots. (When the dots are matched, the point of the medallion will still extend beyond the edge of the units.) Repeat to make two. Before sewing the two halves together, carefully match the dots, seams, and the fabric design on the center medallion. All these edges are on the bias so be careful not to stretch them. Sew the two halves together. Note on Cutting Border Print Patches When placing templates on border print fabric, center the template on a mirror-image motif and align the sewing line just under the arrow with a printed line on the border print fabric. This will create pleasing symmetry and a defining edge when the patch is sewn. To help you cut multiple identical patches, draw a portion of the design motif from the fabric onto the template. Then find that drawn motif elsewhere on the fabric for the next patch. Designed by Jinny Beyer 2017, RJR Fabrics Page 2

Templates For the templates on pages 3-4, trace the pattern onto semi-transparent template plastic, transferring all the lines and markings. Cut the templates out on the solid lines. Punch a hole at the dots to make it easy to mark seam intersections. Route 7 RJR Fabrics Template A Mirror Line Designed by Jinny Beyer 2017, RJR Fabrics Page 3
