1. Descriptin The radi wave hand wheel HBG 220-RF is designed fr wireless cntrl f CNC machines. It has a number f utputs t cntrl the main functins f a CNC machine such as buttns fr axis selectin, axis mvement, hand wheel, verride ptentimeter. The selected values are displayed in a LCD display. The safety functins (emergency stp + safety buttn) fulfil the safety categry 3 EN954-1. The system is exclusively designed fr peratin within the Eurpean market! Other markets require a written apprval f the manufacturer! 2. Machine demands An emergency stp must be stred at the machine cntrl if the emergency stp relay shws different levels. An emergency stp must be cnfirmed at the machine cntrl. The pwer supply has t cmply with EN 50178 and IEC 742 (safe interruptin frm the pwer utlet, prtectin f ver vltage, PELV), this is given n the Heidenhain interface. A machine mvement directed by the hand wheel is nly allwed, if bth safety buttns are pushed and have been pened befre! A hard wired emergency ff n the machine is imperative! 5. Envirnmental cnditins 5.1 Kind f cnditins The wireless hand wheel is exclusively cnstructed fr the peratin in clsed plants. Direct sun light rays are harmful and can cause damage. 7. Installatin Machine must be turned ff befre installatin! Munt the charging statin n a suitable and easy accessable lcatin nt the 3 munting hles (14). The cable cnnectr is n tp. If needed use the supplied munting angle. D nt bend the charging statin! Install the Access pint n the machine cntrl panel, preferably abve the cntrl panel. Open the lid, beneath are 4 munting hles fr M4 screws fr munting (hle distance: 188 x 88 mm). The cnnectr fr the antenna (10) must be n tp. Lead the cable f the charging statin thrugh the cable fitting (12) and cnnect with clamp X2 with the Access pint. The numbering f the cable must be aligned with the clamp numbers. Screw the antenna int the antenna scket (10). Lead the machine cnnecting cable thrugh the cable fitting (11). Cnnect in accrdance with the cnnecting diagram attached. The cable must be a shielded cable with min. 0,34² (24 x 0,34²). Tiden the cable fitting. Remve sticker ("remve befre use") with magnet frm the hand terminal. Munting psitins: 7.1 Out f peratin Is the hand wheel cut ff frm the supply vltage fr a lnger time perid, it is very imprtant t attach the magnet with an adhesive tape t the hand terminal. The magnet causes an internal reed cntact t discnnect the supply vltage, this avids damage t the accus. Fr crrect placement: - Push and hld safety buttns LED's are n. - Run with the magnet ver the right side f the hand terminal in height f the husing slits until the LED's turn ff. - Fix the magnet in this psitin with adhesive tape. - Push the safety buttns again, if LED's are ff, the magnet is installed crrectly. 8. Operatin 8.1 ON / OFF f the hand terminal The hand terminal is switched n with ne f the safety buttns (3). The cnnectin builds up after bth safety buttns are released again! The switching ff is pssible in tw ways: 1. push the emergency stp 2. return the hand terminal t the charging statin Remark: T avid an accidental emergency stp the hand terminal has t be turned n with the safety buttns befre yu take it ut f the charging statin! T d this, simply push ne f the safety buttns and release again. Attentin! On machines with nly ne emergency stp circuit bth emergency stp cntacts f the HBG 220-RF must be cnnected in series! After enabling the hand terminal n the machine cntrl the wireless hand wheel is ready t be perated. 8.2 Safety Buttns The Safety utput will nly utput a signal if the safety buttns will be pressed at the same time. Time shifted pressing will give n utput! 8.3 LCD display On the 2 line LCD errr cdes, warnings, axis infrmatin, ptentimeter and axis psitin are displayed. 9. Setup 9.1 Used buttns Fr the Set up the fllwing buttns are used: Pulse Encder reslutin 1-4 Test-Nr Help functins 0 8 Start set up menue as described in 9.2 Select menue pint with buttns +/- (4) Enter menue pint with buttn F1 (3) Change value with buttns +/- (4) Cnfirm selectin with buttn F1 (3) Exit set up with buttn F3 (6) T change names select a letter with buttns (5) and g t the next letter with buttn When changing the channel be sure that the Access pint is turned n and within range! 1 3 2 1 Safety buttns (t switch n) 2 Enable set up 3 Enter 4 Change values 5 Change letters 6 Exit set up 9.2 Enter set up 6 5 If yu enter the set up, the cmmunicatin with the machine is interrupted. This causes an emergency stp! 1 Turn ff hand terminal with the emergency stp buttn. The hand terminal is searching all channels and reprts the prgrammed channel n the display. Remark: The peratin f ther wireless hand wheels may be disrupted temprarily! 3 Display f the battery pwer level, Access pint must be running. 4 Display f the sftware versin, Access pint must be running. 5 Autm. field strength measurement t search fr an available channel. All channels will be scanned cntinuusly. T stp functin push buttn F1 (3). The display shws 6 favurite channels, the best in the upper left the wrst in the lwer right. 6 Manual field strength measurement t search fr an available channel. The channel can be changed with buttns +/-. 7 Transmitting test fr service. 8 Enabling additinal ptins. 10. Start peratin 10.1 Channel selectin The wireless hand wheel HBG 220-RF ffers a chice f 17 channels. Upn delivery channel 0 is set. T select a suitable channel please acknwledge the fllwing: 1 Are there further hand wheels r ther units nearby wrking in the ISM band 433 MHz? 2 If yes, with what frequencies d they wrk exactly? 3 If ther wireless hand wheels are in use, the used channel shuld pssibly be n a different frequency band r therwise the channel separatin shuld be at least 3 channels (i.e. channel 4 + channel 7). 4 If machines are lcated side by side the channel separatin shuld be at least 5 channels (the mre the better). Cmpare the frequencies f ther units with the frequency listing attached and chse nly ne setting which is at least 250 khz away frm the transmitting frequency f the adjining units! 10.1.1 Field strength measurement T search fr a free channel a measuring rutine is integrated in the hand terminal: Switch n all existing wireless units (measuring sensr, crane cntrll systems, etc..) Enter hand terminal set up (see 9.2) Set menue pint Test-Nr t 5 (see 9.4) Exit set up t run rutine Nw the hand terminal scanns cntinuusly all channels until the rutine is stpped with buttn F1 (3). The available channels shw n the display, the best n the upper left, the wrst n the lwer right. 10.2 Set transmitting pwer Activate the test functin 1 in the hand terminal. Nw the display shws the actual receiving field strength and the minimum field strength. With the hand terminal walk up the perating range. Is the minimum value < 30, the transmitting pwer must be increased. With a value f > 45 the pwer shuld be decreased. 10.3 Set minimum level The BG Institute demands a limitatin in wrking range. Therefre, a range value must be defined. If the range value is vilated, the vibratin alarm sets ff and delays the frced shut ff f the machine (emergency stp). Activate test rutine 1 in the hand terminal and determine the minimum value utside the perating range. Range value = 70 minimum level Suggested range value 35-45. 11. Actins t avid interruptins 1. The hand terminal must be turned n befre taking it ut f the charging statin. 2. During the lading f wrk pieces and during tasks where a hand wheel is nt required, return the hand terminal t the charging statin. 3. D nt put larger bjects int yur way that blck yur direct visible cntact between the hand terminal and the Access pint. 4. When the vibratin alarm sets ff, change yur psitin quickly. Mst f the time a slight turn is sufficient. 5. Avid the use f wireless crane cntrll systems near the Access pint r hand terminal. 6. Clean the lading cntacts n the charging statin and the hand terminal regularly. Alternatively the channels can be scanned manually with test rutine 6. The channels can be changed with the buttns +/-. The maximum value can be reset with buttn F1 (3). With the hand terminal walk up the perating range. The maximum value shuld remain < 25! If this is nt the case, repeat the measurement using a different channel. When selecting a channel please nte the additinal pints described under 10.1! If yu have fund a suitable channel, infrm the Access pint f this channel accrdingly: Change t the new channel n the hand terminal. While exiting the set up in the hand terminal the new parameters will be transmitted t the Access pint. The cnnectin is interrupted and must be started again afterwards. 12. Errr slutins 12.1 Pssible errrs If an errr ccurs in the Access pint, the errr cde is displayed n the hand terminal: Errr 001 wrng psitining f the emergency stp relay Errr 002 wrng psitining f the safety relay Errr 004 emergency stp due t discnnectin Errr 008 discrepancy between the tw cntrllers Errr 016 24V supply is missing r defect in charging electrnic Keybard Err failing buttn r a buttn was pressed during turn n f the hand terminal. If several errrs ccur at the same time, the sum f errr cdes is displayed, i.e. errr 002 and errr 004, the display will read errr 006! 12.2 Cause f errrs Errr 1 and 2 indicate prblems with the hardware in the Access pint. Shuld this happen frequently - call fr service. Errr 4 indicates a radi wave interruptin. The fllwing steps can assist: - increase transmitting pwer - increase range setting - change channel Errr 8 is a discrepancy in the transmitting prtcl caused either by the Access pint r the hand terminal - call fr service. Errr 16 pints ut a missing supply f the charging cntrl - required is +24V +/- 10%. If during peratin (hand terminal n) frequent emergency stps ccur withut errr cde, the cause can be an integrated exit cntrl in the Access pint call fr service! 12.4 N functin The fllwing pssibilities have t be evaluated: 1. The hand terminal cannt build up a cnnectin t the Access pint - Check the cable - Check internal fuse in the Access pint (fine fuse 5 x 20, 2AT) - Check LED's in the accesspint (see Cap. 16) - Check channel setting Run test rutine 2 (autm search fr Access pint) - Cmpare the serial number f Access pint and hand terminal (they must be the same!) - Check rechargeable batteries in the hand terminal 2. Machine des nt react - Cnfirm errr cdes n the machine cntrl - Turn n pwer f the cntrl 13. Maintenance and care Fr a cntinuus and safe peratin the fllwing pints need t be attended regularly: - Clean the hand terminal mnthly frm any dirt, wipe ff clant residues and ther fluids immediately. - Clean the charging cntacts n the charging statin and the hand terminal mnthly, i.e. with spirit (Danger: be careful with flammable fluids). - Always clean the magnet n the hand terminal frm swarf r splinters befre returning it t the charging statin! - Once a mnth run the batteries frm the hand terminal dwn withut charging t LOW-BATT - this increases the strength f the battery charge. - Change rechargeable batteries every 2 years. - Check the emergency stp mnthly! - An emergency stp while the hand terminal is in the charging statin can be caused by dirty lading cntacts r the emergency stp buttn is defect. If n cnnectin is pssible, there might be a defective internal fuse n the Access pint (fine fuse 5 x 20, 0,5AT). 12.3 LOW - BATT display If during peratin the LOW - BATT is displayed, return the hand terminal t the charging statin! Further peratin is pssible fr apprx. 1 hur befre the hand terminal shuts dwn and causes an emergency stp. 13.1 Change f rechargeable batteries The batteries shuld be preventatively changed every 2 years. Only use NiMh-rechargeable batteries type Micr (size AAA) with a capacity f min. 800mAh. - Exchange the 3 batteries, ensure crrect plarisatin!
