Back to School Writing Set Designed By: Julie Beltramo August 2014 This is writing set is the perfect Back to School gift for any teacher s desk! The Covered Junior Legal Pad is all set up with a convenient little spot to hold your special pencil along its edge. The Open Top Card Box holds 50 easy-to-reach-for Grid Cards for a quick note. And top off the gift with the coordinating card and wrapped up extra pencils!
Instructions Step 1 To make the Covered Junior Legal Pad, take out the 8 x 11-1/2 Kraft card stock piece. Along the 11-1/2 side, score at 5-1/2, 6 and 6-1/2. Turn counterclockwise and line up the edge at the 2 mark. Score only between 5 and 6. Move the card stock over to the 3 mark, and score again only between 5 and 6. Step 1 Step 2 Crease the score lines so that the center 1 section folds outward and the top and bottom sections fold inward. Put Sticky Strip on the top and bottom ½ sections that are closer to the 5-1/2 flap. Peel off the red backing and adhere. The 1 section will pop out on the edge. Step 2 Step 3 Take out the 2 x 5 Back to Black scallop pattern Designer Series Paper (DSP) piece. With the 2 side along the top of your Stampin Trimmer, score at 1 and 1-1/4.
Step 3 Step 4 Take out the junior legal pad. Use Fast Fuse adhesive to adhere the 1 section to the top front of the pad. Fold over the back edges and adhere to the back of the pad. Add Fast Fuse to the inside back cover and adhere the pad to the cover. Step 4 Step 5 Take out the 4-1/2 x 7-1/2 Island Indigo card stock piece, the 3-1/4 x 6-1/4 Whisper White card stock piece, and the 3 x 6 Back to Black scallop DSP piece. Use Fast Fuse to adhere the indigo piece to the cover. Adhere the Back to Black piece to the Whisper White piece. Take out the 4-1/2 Burlap 1-1/4 ribbon and use Fast Fuse to adhere it to the cover. Step 5
Step 6 Take out the two 2-1/4 x 4 Whisper White card stock pieces. Use StazOn Jet Black ink and stamp the MAKE TODAY ridiculously AMAZING stamp onto one of the pieces. Use Island Indigo to stamp the same saying onto the other piece. Use Paper Snips to cut out the Island Indigo AMAZING piece. Use Stampin Dimensionals to adhere the Island Indigo piece onto the black stamped piece. Step 6 Step 7 Take out the 16 Island Indigo ¼ cotton ribbon piece, and tie around the Whisper White/DSP layer. Tie into a bow. Use Stampin Dimensionals to add the Saying layers on top. Use Stampin Dimensionals to add the Notepad cover. Take out one pencil and the 6 Basic Black ¾ chevron ribbon piece. Tie ribbon around top of pencil, trim and slide into 1 section on Notepad cover. (The tied ribbon helps keep the pencil from falling through!) Step 7 Step 8 To make the Open Top Card Box, take out the 5-1/4 x 6-1/2 Kraft card stock piece. With the 6-1/2 side placed along the top of your trimmer, score at 3 and 4. Turn and score at 1 and 4-1/4.
Step 8 Step 9 On the 3 end of the card stock place a small pencil mark ½ from the end. Do this on both edges. Then use the Stampin Trimmer to trim off the ½ triangle, that is created from the pencil mark to the top of the score line to the card stock edge. (See pictures!) Step 9 Step 10 Use Paper Snips to cut in at the side 1 flaps. Add Sticky Strip to the Back angled 1 flaps. Peel off the red backing and adhere the box sides. Step 10
Step 11 Take out the ¾ x 9 Back to Black scallop DSP piece. Run Fast Fuse along the backside of it. Place it, centered, onto the bottom front of the box. Press down the side edges and adhere the strip around the back of the box. Step 11 Step 12 Place Sticky Strip around the middle of the box. Take out the 9 Burlap piece. Peel off the red backing and adhere the Burlap piece around the box, ending the seam on the back of the box. Then take out the 18 Island Indigo cotton ribbon piece. Tie it around the Burlap section, and into a bow. Step 12 Step 13 To make the card, take out the 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 Island Indigo, the 3-3/4 x 5 Whisper White and the 3-1/2 x 4-3/4 Kraft card stock pieces. Crease the Island Indigo piece in half. Use Fast Fuse to adhere the Whisper White piece to the center of the Island Indigo card front.
Step 13 Step 14 Take out the 4 Burlap, and fishtail cut the end. (Fold the end in half, and cut a triangle off.) Take out the 2 x 3-1/2 Whisper White card stock piece and the Jet Black StazOn pad. Stamp the striped banner image onto the card stock. Cut out with the Stampin Trimmer and Paper Snips. Use Fast Fuse to adhere the Burlap banner, and Stampin Dimensionals to adhere the stamped banner, both to the Kraft card stock piece. Step 14 Step 15 Take out the 12 Island Indigo ¼ cotton ribbon piece, and tie around the Kraft card stock layered piece. Use Stampin Dimensionals to adhere that to the card front. Step 15
Step 16 Take out the 2 x 2 Whisper White, the 2 x 2 Basic Black, and the 2 x 2 Island Indigo card stock pieces. Use the Island Indigo Classic Stampin Pad to stamp the IT S FOR YOU stamp onto the Whisper White piece. Then punch out with the 1-1/4 Circle punch. Punch a 1-3/8 Circle from the Basic Black piece, and a 1-3/4 Scallop Circle from the Island Indigo Piece. Use Stampin Dimensionals to adhere the circles. Step 16 Step 17 Use Stampin Dimensionals to adhere the circle layers to the card front. Step 17 Step 18 Take out the remaining 23 pencils and the 24 Basic Black ¾ chevron ribbon piece. Tie the ribbon around the pencils.
