Each module has a 3-way isolation and offers flexible interference suppression with plug-in filters. These are designed as 4-pole Butterworth or Bessel filters. Other orders and characteristics are available on request. With isolating and filtering, the modules are best suited for interference suppression in measurement and control circuits, protection of SPCs and AD converters, galvanic isolation of line and signal circuits, as well as prevention of ground loops. Low-noise with a residual ripple of < 2 mv pp and an accuracy of 0,1 % makes the modules also best usable for data acquisition applications. Signal inputs and outputs are via BNC sockets resp. screw terminals on the front panel of the module and/or back panel of a 19 chassis/housing. The frequency response of a filter increases with the steepness between passband and stop-band. Here Butterworth has advantages over Bessel: Customer-specific adaptations can be provided in many ways for e.g. measurement ranges and gains. The signal is digitized by a 16 bit AD converter, then isolated by a fast optocoupler, and finally transformed back to its analog value with a 16 bit DA converter. Internal sample rates are 140 resp. 200 khz. This technology assures extremely good characteristic values with regard to offset and accuracy drift, signal-to-noise ratio, and harmonic distortion factor. AD and DA converter pulses of several cards can be synchronized with a central clock on a master card version. ASK-8 Block Diagram The ASK-8 Card offers electrical isolation of 8 channels to the output side. It can be also used as signal distribution card using one input channel only. Inputs and outputs are fed through the card frame connector. The outputs are on common ground. Optionally 8 LEDs for indication of a different cut-off frequency than 5 khz can be mounted on the front panel. Plug-in Filter Frequency response Bessel filter The filters are designed for flexible interference suppression of signals. The cut-off frequency of a TSA Module can be easily changed by inserting another filter. Besides the frequency another characteristics can be selected as well. By combination of 2 filters, an 8-pole filter can be created.
