Safey Insrucions Safey Precauions This device complies wih European Council Direcives as well as inernaional regulaions and sandards for elecrical equipmen, elecromagneic compaibiliy, and he sipulaed safey requiremens. Improper use or handling, however, can resul in damage and/or injury. This device should only be operaed by rained personnel. Operaors mus read hese insallaion insrucions, paricularly he safey informaion, and mus be familiar wih he operaion of he equipmen. The operaor mus supplemen hese warnings and safey precauions if necessary and brief operaing personnel accordingly. The requiremens peraining o applicable insallaion regulaions mus be followed when using elecrical equipmen in sysems and environmenal condiions wih increased safey requiremens. Relevan laws, sandards, regulaions, guidelines and environmenal proecion laws valid in your counry mus be observed. Always keep he equipmen and scale freely accessible. Any insallaion work or scale usage ha does no conform o he insrucions in his manual resuls in forfeiure of all claims under he manufacurer s warrany. Danger of explosion! The operaing insrucions included wih he AC adaper mus be followed. no swich on he equipmen if he AC adaper or power cord are damaged. If he scale, he AC adaper or any of he cables are damaged, disconnec he equipmen from he power supply and secure i so ha i canno be urned on. (e.g. gases or liquids) ha can corrode and damage he inside or ouside of he scale, AC adaper, power cable or peripherals mus be kep away from he equipmen. no operae he scale unless he housing and he display are undamaged and he housing closed so ha inadveren conac wih pars inside he equipmen is no possible. Make sure ha no liquids penerae he scale. noe: The operaor shall be responsible for any modificaions o Sarorius equipmen and for any connecions of cables or equipmen no supplied by Sarorius and mus check and, if necessary, correc hese modificaions and connecions. Informaion on operaional qualiy is available upon reques from Sarorius. You should only use peripherals and opions available from Sarorius. You can only urn off power o he device by pulling he plug or he plug for he mains connecion line, or by unscrewing he four-pin plug a he DC supply cable for he scale. 4 Cubis Insallaion Insrucions

Safey Insrucions Do no exer mechanical pressure on he display wih sharp objecs, as his will damage he display. Liquid peneraion can damage he elecrical componens. Only use a lighly-moisened cloh for cleaning. See Care and Mainenance" for cleaning he device. Do no compromise he IP proecion of he scale. Do no open he scale housing. If he seal is broken, his will resul in forfeiure of all claims under he manufacurer s warrany. The device should only be opened by personnel rained by Sarorius. Disconnec he scale from he wall oule before moving. Avoid condensaion damage o he device. When he scale is urned on, condensaion buildup is no possible. If he device is moved from a cool environmen o a warm environmen, you mus allow he device o acclimaize for approx. hours before connecing o he power supply. Good venilaion is required for devices wih an buil-in fan. Hea build-up should be generally avoided. Mainain a min. disance of approx. 0 cm around he device. Avoid Exercise Make Exercise Hazards a he Place of Insallaion and During Operaion generaing saic elecriciy and poenial equalizaion. A 0 kiloohm ground is used when connecing he scale o he power supply. Disconnecing he ground conducor is no permied. cauion o avoid glass breakage. There is a danger of laceraions or cus caused by sharp edges on glass or meal (conac springs), paricularly when removing or replacing he glass draf shield panels; during cleaning; if a glass sample conainer breaks, or when modifying he scale hardware configuraion. sure all equipmen operaors have received proper insrucions when working wih hazardous or oxic maerials. Failure o follow correc handling procedures can resul in breakage of pars or spillage of liquids or oher subsances. Make sure he necessary proecive clohing or equipmen is worn, such as proecive gloves, clohing, eyewear. The device should be seup in areas away from equipmen or devices ha have srong magneic properies. Exreme elecromagneic fields from elecrical lines should also be avoided. Inended Use Inended Use Cubis models are high-resoluion precision and analyical scales. They were specially developed for exac deerminaion of maerial mass in liquid, pase, powder or solid form. Appropriae conainers mus be used for each ype of sample maerial. Scale capaciy depends on he Cubis model used. Capaciies range from ± 0.0 mg (lowes mass deerminaion) o.0 kg (highes mass deerminaion). Cubis models are designed specially for use in research, educaion and day-o-day laboraory asks in science and indusry. They are designed o be used exclusively indoors. Acclimaizaion Condensaion from humidiy can form on he surfaces of a cold device when i is brough ino a subsanially warmer area. You can preven his by acclimaizing he device for abou hours a room emperaure, leaving i unplugged from AC power. Follow all warnings and safey precauions from he respecive chaper. Choose a locaion ha is no subjec o he following negaive influences: Hea (heaer or direc sunligh) Drafs from open windows, AC sysems and doors Exreme vibraions during weighing Excessive moisure Seing he Angle for he Display and Conrol Uni The angle of he display and conrol uni can be adjused, for example, o adjus o ambien lighing condiions. On MSA and MSU models, he display and conrol uni can be iled as desired. R L Leveling he Scale, Seing he Level Indicaor h Leveling he scale compensaes for slan or unevenness a he place of insallaion. The scale mus be perfecly horizonal o ensure consisen, reproducible weighing resuls. All models are equipped wih an elecronic il angle deecion feaure. If he scale is no level, he scale emis an aler (models MSA and MSU, see brief insrucions). The display shows a graphical represenaion of a level indicaor and ex promps ha guide he user hrough he leveling process. The scale is leveled using boh fron leveling fee. Geing Sared Power Connecion Check he volage raing and plug design The prined volage raing (see ype label) mus mach he volage in he place of insallaion. If he saed supply volage or he plug design of he power cord does no comply wih your counry's sandard, please inform he neares Sarorius represenaive or your dealer. The power connecion mus be made in accordance wih he regulaions applicable in your counry. In order o connec he equipmen o he power supply (proecion class ), use a correcly insalled wall oule wih a proecive grounding conducor (PE) and a fuse of a maximum 6 A. If a main feeder from he ceiling is required or if insallaion of a CEE plug is necessary, hese mus be carried ou by a qualified elecrician. Only use original Sarorius power cables. Safey Precauions The oupu line of he power supply has a Pol (GND) conneced o he meal scale housing. The daa inerface is also galvanically linked o he scale housing (GND).. Plug he DC supply cable ino he scale and ighen he hreaded fiing.. Plug he oher end of he power cord ino he AC adaper. Cubis Insallaion Insrucions 7

Geing Sared Esablish connecion o he power supply Inser he AC adaper plug ino he wall oule. y The scale is now ready o use. Warm-up Time y In order o provide exac resuls, he scale mus warm up a leas 0 minues afer firs being plugged in. Only afer his ime will he device have reached he required operaing emperaure. The firs ime a verified scale used in legal merology (legal-for-rade applicaions) is conneced o he power, i mus warm up for a leas 4 hours before operaion. Afer having been disconneced and hen conneced again, i mus warm up for 0 minues. Turn on he device via he A key. The following appears on he display: y The operaor can now follow he brief insrucions o configure scale seings before beginning weighing operaions. 8 Cubis Insallaion Insrucions

Geing Sared Equipmen no In Use Place he equipmen in sandby mode when i will no be in use for a shor period of ime by pressing he A key. For longer periods of ime, he device should be disconneced from he power supply. Connecing Elecronic Devices (Peripherals) Make absoluely sure ha he device is unplugged from he power supply before connecing/disconnecing any peripheral device (priner, scanner, PC) o or from he daa inerface. The frequency of he mainenance inervals depends on he operaing condiions and user's olerance requiremens. Repairs Repair work mus only be performed by rained service echnicians. Dry all pars wih a sof, dry cloh or use bloing paper o absorb dampness. Then replace all dried pars. Use a damp cloh or sponge o clean sainless seel pars on he scale. Only use convenional household cleaning agens which are suiable for sainless seel (e.g. Sahlfix). Afer his, le he device dry. For addiional proecion, proecive oil may be applied. Remove he sainless seel weighing pan and horoughly clean i separaely. Only use solvens for cleaning sainless seel pars. The sainless seel weighing pan should be cleaned simply by rubbing. Afer his, rinse he equipmen horoughly unil all residue is removed.
