Thank you again to all of you who were able to make it to last month s meeting where we celebrated the 60th anniversary of our club! It was great to see so many in attendance, especially those of you who do not attend all of our regular meetings. I wanted to also thank all of the Glendale Coin Club members who attended and supported the Verdugo Hills Coin Club Coin Show in Van Nuys. Their show was a success and the support given by our club was important. Our continued support of their March show will also help to make our October 27, 2019 Glendale Coin Club Show in the same location a success as well. United States coins were hoarded by many during the Civil War leading to shortage of just about all denominations of coins in circulation. In response to the coin shortage, the United States issued fractional currency notes from 1862 to 1876. Be sure to be present for this presentation to learn all about this interesting area of collecting. Remember, it is always great when we have programs set up by our regular club members. May 2019 Meeting... 2019 Meeting Dates... Page 5 *****REMINDER***** THE MAY 2019 MEETING HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED TO MAY 17, 2019 THIRD FRIDAY OF THE MONTH PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDARS! Please note that the Board has decided that the Glendale Coin Club will no longer be alternating meeting dates with the Verdugo Hills Coin Club. Glendale Coin Club will meet the second Friday of the month for all 12 months of 2019, except for May. ***UPDATE*** The May meeting of the Glendale Coin Club must be rescheduled because of a library conflict. The May meeting will now be on the third Friday of the month; Friday, May 17, 2019. Verdugo Hills Coin Club will meet the second Monday of the month for all 12 months of 2019, with the exception of October and November due to holidays. Please check with VHCC for the alternate October and November meeting dates. 2019 Annual Dues... Annual membership dues are due! Please note that annual membership dues for the club for 2019 are now due. If you have not already done so, please make sure to pay your dues at the next meeting you attend.
