2 Hello all, PRESIDENT'S COLUMN Mark Your Calendars! Our show is finally here! This is the one time of year we get to see such an impressive gathering of coins in our own back yard. It not only saves on the driving time, but also creates a unique opportunity enjoy a coin show with your coin club comrades there, too. You don t even have to wait until show-and-tell to show off your new finds. There are people right at the show who will appreciate your carefully selected additions (and/or your because-it s-shiny impulse buys). As the show nears, don t forget that time is running out to earn incentive tickets for the show raffle. The first meeting this month is your last chance to qualify, so if you still have some left, now s the time to move them. Remember, there s a slabbed Indian Head $10 gold piece on the line. That s no typical coin club raffle prize, so don t miss the opportunity to maximize your chances! While the show is the big news this month, we ll have our regular meetings to look forward to, as well. The beards on money theme for last month s show-and-tell was a great success. I ll bet we all got to see some coins/notes that might not have been shared without being connected to the theme. This month we ll just be having people show off their new acquisitions from the coin show, but that leaves the first meeting open. Did you come across something you wished you had shared for one of our earlier themes? Maybe the first meeting this month would be a good opportunity to sneak it in. In any case, I m sure I ll be amazed by the variety material our membership shares, and I ll bet the show will add to it even more. First up, any of you juniors who have made a poster of What I Collect for the June Modesto Coin Show, be sure to bring it to the June 8th club meeting. I want to see how many posters we have and how best to display them at the show. This will give our senior club members a chance to see what you are interested in AND you ll earn 6 JUNIOR BUCKS for participating! You can earn more junior bucks by volunteering at the Coin Show, too, so just ask me how you can help. Next, we won t be having any Junior Table activities this summer so the 15-minute break time is your chance to check out what members have brought in or to have fun with friends old and new. I will have an activity sheet available if you would like one. So have a great summer and keep your eyes open for interesting numismatic treasures you can bring back for SHOW and TELL!
