ABOUT Visionario e prolifico, Karim Rashid è uno dei protagonisti più originali nel mondo del design contemporaneo. Con più di 4.000 progetti in produzione, quasi 300 premi ricevuti e lavori svolti per clienti in oltre 40 paesi, la sua capacità di trascendere il concetto di tipologia continua a farne un esponente di spicco tra i designer della sua generazione. Visionary and prolific, Karim Rashid is one of the most unique voices in design today. With more than 4000 designs in production, nearly 300 awards to his name, and client work in over 40 countries, Karim s ability to transcend typology continues to make him a force among designers of his generation. 5
Evitando lo stile a favore di un design in linea con i tempi attuali, i progetti di Karim includono beni di lusso creati per Christofle, Alessi e Veuve Clicquot, prodotti democratici progettati per Umbra, bobble e 3M, elementi di arredamento intramontabili creati per Bonaldo, Tonelli, BoConcept e Vondom, raffinati elementi di illuminazione per Artemide e Fontana Arte. I numerosi premi e riconoscimenti ottenuti testimoniano il contributo offerto da Karim al mondo del design. E stato più volte vincitore dei premi Red Dot Award, Chicago Athenaeum Good Design Award, Pentawards e IDSA Industrial Design Excellence Award. Le opere d arte contemporanea realizzate da Karim spaziano dalle stampe digitali all arte pubblica/installazioni e sculture. Le sue opere sono presenti in 20 collezioni permanenti di vari istituti d arte in tutto il mondo, tra cui il Brooklyn Museum, il MoMA e il Centre Pompidou. Ha tenuto esposizioni in tutto il mondo e offre spesso il suo contributo alla Biennale di Venezia. Eschewing style in favor of designing in the modus of our time, Karim s designs include luxury goods for Christofle, Alessi, and Veuve Clicquot; democratic products for Umbra, bobble, and 3M; timeless furniture for Bonaldo, Tonelli, BoConcept, and Vondom; exquisite lighting for Artemide and Fontana Arte. Numerous awards and accolades attest to Karim s contribution to the world of design. He is a perennial winner of the Red Dot award, Chicago Athenaeum Good Design award, Pentawards, and IDSA Industrial Design Excellence award. Contemporary artwork created by Karim ranges from digital prints to public art/ installation and sculpture. His works are featured in 20 permanent collections in various art institutions worldwide, including Brooklyn Museum of Art, MoMA, and The Center Pompidou. COLLABORAZIONE CON ARGENESI COLLABORATION WITH ARGENESI L intervista a Karim The interview to Karim E la prima volta che lavoro con Argenesi, un azienda che ha una vera e propria dedizione per la qualità e per il mestiere che svolge. La loro filosofia e le loro abilità sono una fonte di ispirazione, ed è per questo che sono stato entusiasta di diventare loro partner. Ho imparato che il design è una collaborazione che nasce tra un marchio e il mio marchio, e che si deve saper ascoltare e lavorare all interno di quella cultura, o non si riuscirà nell intento di commercializzare o realizzare qualcosa. Quando ho incontrato Argenesi e ho esplorato i loro prodotti, sapevo esattamente cosa volevo creare usando i loro dettagli e le loro texture argentate che li rendono così speciali. This is the first time working with Argenesi, and they have a true dedication to quality and their craft. Their philosophy and capabilities are inspiring, which made me very excited to partner with them. I have learned that design is a collaboration between one brand and my brand and one must listen, and work within that culture or nothing will go to market or get built. When I met with Argenesi and explored their products, I knew exactly what I wanted to create using their silver details and textures that make them so special. 9

L intervista a Karim The interview to Karim Sono entusiasta di lavorare con Argenesi su questa collezione. Volevo comprendere le loro capacità e sfruttarle per creare design fluidi e sensuali, innovativi ed esperienziali. La prima collezione è un set di oggetti che include una ciotola piccola e una grande ed un vassoio. Questi oggetti hanno proporzioni perfette e possono essere combinati per creare momenti diversi. Ad esempio, le ciotole possono essere disposte sul vassoio per creare un set da servizio. La seconda collezione è un set di forme minimaliste e organiche con una texture sensuale, composto da vasi e recipienti. Ciascuno di essi ha una forma particolare e unica, ma insieme si combinano per creare una famiglia. Su tutti gli oggetti abbiamo usato rivestimenti in argento e colori per dare risalto al design. I am thrilled to work with Argenesi on this collection. I wanted to understand their abilities and exploit them to create designs that are fluid and sensual, along with innovative and experiential. The first collection is a set of items that includes a small and large bowl and a tray. These items are perfectly proportioned, and can be used together to create several different moments. For example, the bowls can be set within the tray for serving purposes. The second collection is a set of minimal, organic shapes with a sensual texture. These items are a set of vases and vessels. They all have a unique shape of their own, but all belong together as a family. On all the items, we ve used coatings in real silver and colors to highlight the designs in a beautiful way. 11

Ho scelto queste Ikons per Argenesi perché penso che esprimano lo spirito dell azienda e dell Italia. I chose these four shapes from my Ikon collection which have the meaning of unity, direction, universal, and multiplicity.
