BAT...fire hose thead designated as first end NPT...second end is NPT pipe thread indicates that nominal fire hose thread size is 2 1 2" indicates that second end is nominal 1 1 2" thread Hydrant adapters are available in a wide variety of threads that are found in different cities. Some of the more popular threads and sizes are listed here, however many others are available. NAKAJIMA couplings conform to the Japanese JIS F7335 standard. The two halves are identical and a quarter turn locks the couplings together.
