Homo Habilis, handy man, was the first to build huts with branches and leaves. Since then every generation has relied on the functional and aesthetic qualities of wood. Without it there would be no churches, windmills, bridges or palaces. Veneer is the purest expression of wood, a technical and creative tour de force that offers unending value in decor. Unfortunately this precious raw material has had to confront many imitations in the market over recent years. Decospan sees it as its responsibility to do something about this. We aim to see our raw material and all the many products derived from it flourishing again through innovation and ingenuity. 6 01 THE STORY THE MILL Immersing the tree trunks in a special water solution makes the wood soft enough for cutting. This method produces veneer strips barely 0.6 mm thick without sawing waste. In other words, producing veneer from a trunk means achieving the maximum potential from each tree. No other natural product offers added value to this extent. This undeniably makes veneer the ultimate expression of wood. And each tree is unique; every veneered product has a unique appearance. THE FOREST It all begins in the tree s growth phase, with different elements having significant influence on the physiology of the adult tree. The location in the forest, subsoil, climate and external factors will ultimately determine whether or not a particular specimen is suitable for making veneer. Just 5% of all the trees in a forest can be considered. The others are rejected as being too small, irregular in shape or damaged and are left. THE STORY. THE WORLD S MOST NATURAL VENEER 6

7 01 THE STORY THE TECHNIQUE Decospan has developed its own patented machine for the mix matched or planked technique, in which the veneers are jointed together randomly to give the final sheet the appearance of solid wood without disadvantages such as warping as the humidity varies. This technique produces the most natural looking wood veneer in the market and has the added bonus of being very easy to change panels at a later date if it is required. THE FINISH Almost unlimited possibilities can be achieved and the ability to personalise your veneer with options ranging from sanded to distressed, three styles of brushing and five styles of scratching. A range of unfinished so you can finish with your preferred oils or lacquers; or choose from the beautiful range of factory finished veneers. All products come complete with matching edge banding to make a complete end to end solution so easy. 7

28 05 NØRDUS NØRDUS. THE SCANDINAVIAN VENEER COLLECTION This collection embodies the Scandinavian lifestyle and nourishes us with cosiness and warmth. A Nørdus panel is composed of a top layer of real wood veneer, a core of 18 mm MDF and a backing of real wood veneer for stability reasons. The top layer is always a jointed veneer sheet composed using a mixmatch technique. In this process, strips of veneer wood from various trees with varying slicing methods are randomly jointed into a full sheet. This way, the panel looks like solid wood character without any visual interruption. Matching Edge Bandings have been developed for each look. FSC is available on request. Phrases such as unchecked will not be accepted. 3. Your notice of intent to return damaged goods must be made within 14 days. 4. Before returning any goods a return order number must be obtained from VidaSpace Sales Department. Please write this number, together with the names of both sender and recipient, clearly on each unit being returned. 5. If goods are refused (ie not offloaded) please ensure that the documentation recording this also contains your representatives name, signature and date. 6. Please ensure that you obtain a name, signature and date from whomsoever accepts goods for return (eg, the van driver or VidaSpace representative). 7. Do not allow any driver to remove goods without documentation from his company instructing him to do so; such documentation may be arranged through VidaSpace transport department. NB If VidaSpace permission to remove is not obtained and the goods go missing VidaSpace will not accept any responsibility to issue a refund. 8. Please note that, in the case of special or timed deliveries, delivery charges excluded, VidaSpace cannot accept responsibility for consequential loss due to late delivery.
