2 Right bracket (with latch) 1. Using an awl, pierce through the seals in the holes on the left side bed lining. SIDE BED LINING Template Accessory User s Information Manual TOOL AND SUPPLIES REQUIRED Ratchet 10 mm Socket T-20 Torx wrench T-50 Torx wrench Tape measure Drill 3 mm and 8 mm Drill bits Center punch Eye protection (face shield, safety goggles, etc.) Phillips screwdriver Felt-tip pen Awl 4 mm Hex wrench File HOLES LATCH HEX BOLTS 7D0954AB 2. Install the left latch to the left side bed lining with three hex bolts. INSTALLATION Customer Information: The information in this installation instruction is intended for use only by skilled technicians who have the proper tools, equipment, and training to correctly and safely add equipment to your vehicle. 3 3. Remove the left front lower tie-down hook (two T-50 torx bolts). 6. On the left side of the tailgate, position the template to the tailgate as shown. Reinstall the left front lower tie-down hook and the left bracket with two T-50 torx bolts (reused). 7. Using a center punch, mark the tailgate at the hole in the template. Remove the template. 8. Using a felt-tip pen, mark the right side of the tailgate at the center of the triangular plain surface as shown. 4 10. While wearing eye protection, drill a 3 mm hole at the mark on the left side of the tailgate. Enlarge the hole with a 8 mm drill bit. To prevent damage to the inner vehicle tailgate parts, wrap a tape around the drill bit at the measurement shown. Remove any burrs. 14. Insert three center tubes to the left tube. TUBE MARK 3 CENTER TUBES DRILL 10 mm (0.4 in.) DRILL BIT TIP TUBE RETAINER (If not installed you may need to install.) 3 mm 8 mm DRILL BIT TAPE ROOT DRILL 7D0959AB 11. Secure one well nut into the hole made in step 10. HOLE SNAP- SCREW WASHER WELL NUT 7D0960AB 12. Secure one snap-screw and one washer to the well nut. 13. 5 15. Align the non-threaded wedge with the threaded wedge at three joints between the left and center tubes, then secure the wedges with one T-20 torx screw each. 18. Open the tailgate. BED 3 NON-THREADED 3 T-20 TORX SCREWS 3 THREADED PIVOT RIGHT LATCH TUBE 3 CENTER TUBES LATCH PIVOT AX 19. Insert the two pivots on the bed extender into the latches. 20. Carefully pivot the bed extender onto the tailgate. STRAP Pivot. 7D0951CB 16. Insert three center tubes into the right tube (with label). BED OUTER PROJECTION TUBE SNAP 50 inches (1,270 mm) STRAP SNAP AX 21. Secure two straps on the bed extender to two snaps on the tailgate. Adjust the three center tubes so that the distance between the outer projections on the ends of the right tube (with label) and left tube is 1,270 mm (50.00 in.) American Honda Motor Co., Inc. 6 22. Align the center tubes so that there is a consistent gap between the bed extender and the side bed lining. SIDE BED LINING SIDE BED LINING 23. Align the non-threaded wedge with the threaded wedge at three joints between the right and center tubes, then secure the wedges with one T-20 torx screw each. 3 T-20 TORX SCREWS 3 NON-THREADED 3 THREADED BED 3 CENTER TUBES 3 CENTER TUBES RIGHT TUBE BED AX 7D0953CB 24.
