2 Additional clamping jaws extend the capacity of the machine. Different configurations are possible to suit different types of applications. Several clamping options are available to suit a particular application. As an option, the clamping can be done automatically. Clamping jaws are available in several different configurations. Clamping jaws for expanded tubes are also available. Clamping is perfectly concentric. Up to four tool-bits can be mounted so that machining operations, such as, facing, beveling and counterboring can be carried out simultaneously. Two or more tool bits used simultaneously ensure a perfect balance of forces during the machining operations. It performs repeatable quality weld preps on most metal pipes and tubes including carbon and stainless steel, duplex and super duplex, inconel etc. The cutting head will bevel, face individually or in a synchronised operation. The SM8 is easily installed on all pipes and completely torque accepting (requires no holding). The PROTEM SM8 unit requires only 17,5 mm (0,6889 ) minimum clearance from the pipe centerline, thereby allowing precise machining inside restricted working areas. Both operations, beveling and excavating, can be performed simultaneously. The machine is clamped inside the tube for a perfectly concentric clamping.
