5 City Mosaic 2017 What is City Mosaic? 13th Annual Event 1 day race Toronto s Urban Adventure Team of 2-4 for 6 hours race Prizes for Top Crew, Champion, Social Media Award Attracted over 4,000 youth to participate in the race Planning starts from December/January with 30 core members In total, almost 90+ volunteers get involved from planning to execution

8 Things To Bring To The Race Health Card (MUST) Pen (MUST) Digital Camera (Camera Phone is acceptable) Small amount of money for lunch (Optional) Rain coat/umbrella or Sunscreen Refillable Water Bottle (Water can be refilled at Info Booth)

9 Rules and Regulations Safety = number 1 priority, especially for teams ages 16+ (without adult volunteer) 50 points deduction per person: Not wearing City Mosaic T-shirt. 100 points deduction: Not staying together during the competition. Every team is responsible for their own safety, and must follow all traffic laws. Treat others how you would want to be treated. Any team engaged in verbal or physical aggression towards public, fellow participants, or CM Staff/Volunteers may result in disqualification from the race

12 Answering Questions Only the answer booklet will be marked, and no part marks will be given for a question. Answers to all the questions can be found within the Map Boundaries Point value of each question is based on its difficulty and location accessibility Explorer division has less checkpoints to visit than Adventurer division. They will be indicated in the Answer Booklet. We encourage you to visit all checkpoints nonetheless.

13 Mission In celebration of Canada s 150th birthday, this year s mission contains 10 interesting facts about Canada which you will have to find clues for and arrange them in chronological order A Clue Card will be given to you when you complete a Team Challenge Write down any useful information, and return the Clue Card to the checkpoint helper when you are done. Since this is a collaborative mission for all City Mosaic participants, you may also trade clues with other teams. Each correct event is worth 5 points (maximum 50 points). Arranging all the events in the correct order gives you an additional 100 points, for a total of Canada 150!

15 Mission When a team complete a team challenge, you get a Clue Card (picked from 10 envelope) Event : Justin Trudeau becomes Prime Minister of Canada Description: Justin Trudeau, born on December 25, 1971, is a Canadian politician. He was elected in 2015 as the 23rd and current Prime Minister of Canada.

17 Checkpoints What can you do at checkpoints? Look for checkpoint helpers in blue volunteer T-shirts: 1. Get checkpoint stamp 2. Get photo stamp(s) 3. Take on a Team Challenge 4. Obtain Clue Cards for the Mission 5. Get Anywhere Challenge stamp(s)

22 Race Referees Contact Number: Inside Program Booklet (Your Team Helper) Handle any challenges, disputes, discrepancies during the game Will not give any clues or answers to the checkpoint questions Emergency Call Race Referee or Call 911 Disqualification Has the right to disqualify any team or team members to be violating the rules and regulations of the race Team who fail to return for any reasons, the team must notify the referee before 5:30pm

24 Finish Line All team members MUST cross the finishing line together to complete the race at Mel Lastman Square of North York Civic Center. Answers are only to be written on the answering booklet. Please write legibly. Earn 150 points for successful completion of the Mission and 50 points for the surveys submission Please enjoy our Carnival until 5:30 pm Prizes will be awarded during the Closing Ceremony at 5:30pm

32 Registration Procedure On May 27th Please register at Registration Booth at 8:30 am (see your Team Helper there) You need to know your CM ID # All 3-4 members must register together All 3-4 members must be wearing the CM T-shirts Look for our signages + ushers to direct you to Reg Booth Additional T-shirt will cost $10, and can be purchased at Info Booth Package Pickup from Registration Booth Program Booklet Voucher (to exchange for your TTC pass, map, and program booklets during the opening ceremony)
