2 News From Your Board MCKEE HOUSE SENIORS SOCIETY Dear Members, My name is James Steel and I love food. It brings me great pleasure to be chosen as the Kee Café operator and I look forward to working with you all. During my 23 years as a chef I have tried to experience all that the hospitality industry has to offer. Starting my career in Victoria BC, at Truffles catering is where I worked my way up from cook to head chef in a few years. I have experienced everything from high end catering and weddings to everyday lunches for government and business meetings, cooked at a top rated Bed and Breakfast and supplied nourishment to University students in a modern cafeteria setting. During the past 8 years I have enjoyed myself in providing fun, delicious and nutritious food for the seniors of the lower mainland. Now I am very happy to be in the service of the seniors of McKee. Thank you for this opportunity to serve you all. ~ James Steel President Vice-President Treasurer Secretary Past Chair Director at Large Director at Large Director at Large Director at Large Director at Large Assets Management Clubs, Drop-In Programs & Workshops Computer Systems Customer Service Kitchen Services Instructional Programs Publicity & Advertising Special & Annual Events Special Projects Volunteers Board of Directors Ben Branscombe Peggy Knight Jack MacDonald Susan Howe Arla J. 3 Dear Members, I am delighted to announce the Delta Seniors Bus will offer service on Mondays beginning Nov 5! Please spread the good news to your friends and neighbours. The Seniors Bus is a great way to get around Delta. I am excited for Nov 5 because that is also the opening day of the Kee Café! I met Chef James and I believe he will be a great addition to McKee. I sampled some scones he happened to bring in one day; I had to do my due diligence and test them to ensure they were fit for consumption by members. All I can say is they were DELICIOUS! Finally, I have to mention that McKee members are amazing. Each day I witness acts of kindness; hear words of caring and compassion from members about members who are struggling; and I am in awe of the efforts the volunteers put forth to make McKee the best place to be! Well done everyone! HOW TO LOWER YOUR FALL RISK; FALLS CAN BE A SERIOUS RISK TO YOUR HEALTH & SAFETY.
