1 Pre-K in Pictures October 14, 2016 Greeting Time Our Message Board KDI B11 Community, D26 Reading

2 After finding the letter W all around the room, we sorted and graphed the letters by size. We placed all the large Ws in a row. We placed all the small Ws in a row. We determined that we collected more small than large letters. KDIs D25 Alphabet Knowledge, E32 Counting, E39 Data Analysis Planning Time We tapped a steady beat on the triangle as we told our plan for Work Time. KDI A2 Planning, F41 - Music We rolled apples out of play dough and put them on a play dough pie mat. Then, we told our plan for Work Time. KDI A- Planning, C17 Fine Motor Development

8 Science Area Recall Time We recorded what we did today at Work Time on dry erase boards. KDI D 29 Writing

9 We copied a colorful pattern with pattern blocks as we recalled what we did during Work Time. KDI A6 0 Reflection, E 38 Patterns Small Group Time We looked at a collection of rocks. We classified the rocks by similar characteristics and sorted them in ice cube trays. KDI G 45- Observing, G46 Classifying

10 We conducted an experiment with Skittles candy and water. We placed the Skittles in a bowl of water and watched. Soon the color began to dissolve from the candy and spread around the bowl. As long as we didn t shake the bowl, the colors didn t mix. We made conclusions and recorded our results on paper. KDIs G 45 Observing, G47 Experimenting, G49 Drawing Conclusions We made edible paint with milk and food coloring. We painted our bread and toasted it to make colorful rainbow toast. Yummy! 11 We used paint and sponges to paint a frieght train. KDI C17 Fine Motor, F40 Art We sorted Fruit Loops by colors and glued them onto matching paper strips to make a beautiful rainbow. KDIs C17 Fine Motor, F40 Art, G 46 Classifying

12 WE made red, blue, and yellow play dough. Then we mixed the colors together and made different shades of green, orange, purple, and brown play dough. We will add this to our Art Area. KDIs C17 Fine Motor, E 36 Measuring, G 47 Experimenting

13 We followed a recipe to make muffins. We mixed in the oil, water, and eggs. Then, we added some color to the batter. We baked them in a cupcake maker and then we opened up The Waymaster and Larson Bakery. Everyone scurried over to the Pretend Play area to gather play dollars and credit cards. Then, they stopped by the bakery to purchase their yummy rainbow muffins! Can t wait till the bakery is open again next week! We made apple prints with cut apples and paint. KDI F40 - Art

14 We used an apple peeler to peel and core apples. Then, we used safety knives to cut our apples into small pieces. We added sugar, cinnamon, and water to our apples and cooked them for three hours in our crockpot. The whole room smelled delicious. Then, we tasted our applesauce. It was so yummy!! 15 After experimenting with apples and water, we determined that apples float in water. We learned that they float because they are much of an apple is made up of air. Air is lighter than the water. So apples float. Since apples float, we decided to try making apple boats and testing them in water. Sure enough, our apple boats floated. 16 After reading the book, Ten Apples up on Top by Dr Suess, we tried balancing an apple on top of our heads. It was a little tricky! Then, we cut apples out of paper and glued them on pictures of ourselves to see how many we could fit on top of our heads. We counted the apples. Someone fit three big apples on top. 21 We sorted and made a graph of our apples. We analyzed the data and determined that we have the most amounts of red apples. We have eight red apples. We have the same number of green apples and reddishorangish-yellowish apples. KDI E 32 Counting, E 39-, Data Analysis
