3 Frances Downes, Writer & Producer Frances has been involved with stage productions of one kind or another for most of her life. She first became involved with Youth Theatre in Sixmilebridge in 1984, and has produced a show every year since. Between 1984 and 1996 she produced shows for the Tops of the Clubs Competition, and by the time the event ceased to exist in 1996, Sixmilebridge Youth Club had won every possible award at county and national level. Sixmilebridge also won the Top Comedy Award in Tops of the Town in The Wizard of Oz is the 8 th panto written and produced by Frances and this is her 25 th consecutive production with Sixmilebridge Youth Club. Her ambition has always been to give every young person who wants it, an opportunity to perform on stage. Hundreds of young people who have done just that since 1984 would say that she has succeeded! Ray Maxwell, Co-Producer Ray has been a member of the Youth Club from the age of 12, taking time out for a few years due to work and family commitments. He has been involved in Variety shows with the Youth Club from the start, and has taken part in a number of shows with Shannon Musical Society, as well as playing lead roles in school productions. Since his return in 2000, he has been instrumental in promoting and co-producing the pantomime shows. He s a strong believer in nurturing and showcasing young talent, and is only too delighted to give the kids the opportunity to perform and to demonstrate this talent. He would like to take this opportunity to thank the cast of The Wizard of Oz for their commitment and dedication. To their parents, without whose support, we would not be here today.
