1 Science Olympiad Placements (State) This Documents Contains: Who is competing at the Science Olympiad State competition Events assigned to compete in Partners in events What times events occur during competition day Practices and tracking event preparation Message from the Presidents, Since we are allowed only one team at State, we had to make the difficult decision of who is given the opportunity to compete at the U. It goes without saying, everyone who competed has great skills, abilities, and intelligence. We based our decision on Nebo and Weber attendance and performance, preparation, meeting attendance, and other factors. We encourage those who didn t make varsity to continue to learn and grow from the experience, in and out of school, and apply for next year. For the Varsity members, event prep starts now! It is important that you work with your partners extra hard, get materials approved and keep receipts, and get ready to win at State! We will continue to have weekly meetings, and also begin practices, and you must attend two a week (details further down this document), as well as record event preparation with Mettler. Saturday, April 15 th is competition day, and we do not provide a bus (TRAX is available). Make sure to arrive at the Huntsman Center by 7 am. 6 Practice Practice and Event Prep You must go to practice at least twice a week o Must total 80 minutes per week Can go M,W,F to Mettler s room in the morning o Must check in with Mettler, and sign out by writing down progress in events o Stay for at least 30 minutes T,Th in the mornings are at the library o Same as M,W,F but with Aidan or Vivek Any day after school from 2:30-3:00 o Tuesdays and Thursdays go till 3:30 Contact beforehand if you can t get the minutes and explain reason You will be notified by remind if times or dates are canceled/modified Event Prep For events with notes, send pictures or files of note progress to vivivankayala@gmail.com For building events, pictures Must send twice a week for notes, once a week for building events
