4 NASA-LEGO Build the Future Event for Mars Science Laboratory 20 Visitor Complex, IMAX Building, Hubble Annex (#12 on Map) The NASA-LEGO Build the Future event is a participatory experience for students and public (ages 4 and up) to use their own inspiration and imagination to build the future in space with over 800,000 LEGO 4

5 bricks. This event also helps to highlight the partnership, legospace.com web site and the lessons from the International Space Station using LEGO models. Days and Times Nov. 23, L-2: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 24, L-1: 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 25, L-0: 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 26, L+1: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Special Features A model of the Curiosity rover is scheduled to be on display that was designed and built by Adult Fans of LEGO. It is anticipated that the rover will have robotic capabilities for demonstration purposes at the event. In addition, LEGO designer, Henrik Anderson, from Billund, Denmark, will be at the event. Event Process Each hour on the hour, a new group of children and their parents will enter the annex to spend approximately 45 minutes building their vision of the future in space. Once completed, each child will explain their model to a Team Member and display it on long, bright yellow tables to share with all. Team members will work with the child to help stimulate their imaginations and answer questions. At the end of the session, each child leaves with a Diploma that states I helped build the future with the LEGO Group and NASA at the Kennedy Space Center along with various giveaways. At the information building at the entrance to the Visitor Complex, an attended sign up table will be there. Team Members will explain the partnership and the event to the parents and children. A maximum of 150 people can be accommodated each hour in the annex. 5
