I want to encourage you to join them. You will improve your operating skills, check out the reliability of your station and antennas, and learn more about the many Ham radio programs that are available for your computer. We will cover SSB, CW, RTTY and PSK. The district superintendent and the building

2 principal gave their approval and the Spokane Radio Amateur Club agreed to sponsor the program at the school and to provide the materials for the library for the class. The school was fortunate enough to be chosen to participate, and in addition, Steve was chosen to be one of five educators from across the country to go to Hartford, Connecticut for several days to help develop the national curriculum for the program. This session will describe the successes and challenges the program at University High School has had over the last eight years, as well as the probable impact in the future. Zimbabwe Z2 Mini DXpedition We have our passports, shots, money, plane tickets and the bags are packed. In three short days (Tuesday September 28th), myself and my XYL Dianne will be departing Spokane for Harare, Zimbabwe. There is a three fold reason for our trip 1) to visit our son Brett who is a counselor in a private school of 400 international students K -12 from 56 countries, 2) so I can operate ham radio from a foreign country and 3) we need a vacation. We will spend 5 weeks touring the country and surrounding areas. Our itinerary includes several days at Victoria Falls. I will also be operating from Harare as Z2/AC7GP on SSB, RTTY and PSK 31. I actually can take my entire station as carry on baggage!! Sad to say I will only be operating 100 watts into simple dipole antennas so it may be a challenge for some of you to work me. My main operating times will be Monday through Friday on 15 thru 80 meters. Zimbabwe local time is 9 hours ahead of us. I hope each and everyone one of you enjoyed this year s Hamfest. I'll probably have quit a yarn to spin when we get back. 73 for now, Bob, AC7GP Spokane Hamfest Chairman PS. Lions and Tigers and Bears - Oh my!!!
