Fan: used to regulate the temperature of the BLC inner space (BLC-20 and higher). 2. IF Input Connector: the Power Inserter-to-BLC cable-connection. 3. CPR137 RF Output: used as the BLC RF output. 4. M&C Connector (optional). 5. RH Indicator: a three-state indicator (illuminating - green, extinguished or blinking), used to indicate the status of the BLC (together with item #6). 6. LH Indicator: a three-state indicator (illuminating - green, extinguished or blinking), used to indicate the status of the BLC (together with item #5). 7. External Power Supply Connector (optional): used as the input power connector when the BLC is powered directly from an optional outdoor DC power supply. On/Off Power Switch: the Power Inserter ON/OFF power switch. 2. Power Supply Indicator: illuminates (green) when the Power Inserter is powered and works properly. 3. High Current Indicator: illuminates (red) when the Power Inserter power consumption is above 7.5A. 4. Low Current Indicator: illuminates (red) when the Power Inserter power consumption is below 0.7A. 5. AC Input Connector: the Power Inserter-to Mains cable-connection. 6. GND: the Power Inserter-to-Facility ground cable-connection. 7. IF Output Connector: the Power Inserter-to-BLC cable-connection. 8. IF Input Connector: the Modem-to-Power Inserter cable-connection. Handling, Installation & Operation This chapter provides instructions on how to handle and install the BLC 10/20/25 system and includes the following sections: Section 2.1: Handling Section 2.2: Unpacking Section 2.3: Installation and Operation 2.1 Handling Transportation The BLC 10/20/25 may be transported by land, air or sea while packed in its original packaging: Figure 2-1: The BLC 10/20/25 Package BLC Package Power Inserter Package Storage While packed in its original packaging, the BLC 10/20/25 and Power Inserter may be stored according to the following conditions: Temperature Range: 0 to 50 C Relative Humidity: up to 95% (non-condensing) 2-1

18 BLC 10/20/25 User's Manual Chapter 2: Handling, Installation & Operation Return of Equipment When returning equipment to Belcom Microwaves Ltd. for repair or replacement: 1. Identify, in writing, the condition of the equipment. 2. Refer to the sales order, Purchase Order and the date the equipment was received. 3. Notify Belcom Microwaves Ltd. Sales Administration Department of the equipment condition and obtain a Return Material Authorization (RMA) number and shipping instructions. Consult Belcom Microwaves Ltd. Service department for the best shipment method. NOTE Do not return any equipment without an RMA number. This is important for prompt, efficient handling of the returned equipment and of the associated complaint Equipment Damage or Loss Belcom Microwaves Ltd. is not responsible for damage or loss of equipment during transit. For farther information, contact the responsible transport carrier. When declaring equipment as damaged during transit preserve the original shipping cartons to facilitate inspection reporting. Belcom Microwaves Ltd. is responsible for damage or loss of equipment only if the purchase order included a "door-to-door" delivery (CIF by Incoterm). Otherwise, contact the responsible transport carrier. In case of damage or loss of equipment, contact Belcom Microwaves Ltd. immediately for farther information. Nevertheless, in any case of damage or loss of equipment, it is recommended to contact Belcom Microwaves Ltd. which will make an effort to assist Receiving and Inspection The transmitter module is designed to function outdoors and will arrive in standard shipping containers. Immediately upon receipt of the transmitter module, check the Bill of Lading against the actual equipment you have received. Inspect the shipping containers exteriors for visible damage incurred during shipping. CAUTION Handle the transmitter module with extreme care. Excessive shock may damage transmitter module's delicate internal components. 2-2

Ensure that the containers are oriented correctly in accordance with the "This Side UP'' labels. Carefully remove the transmitter module and packing material from the shipping containers Unpacking Instructions 1. Visually inspect the packages for traces of excessive moisture or external damage. 2. Carefully open the BLC 10/20/25 package, observing all handling labels ("This Side Up", "Open This End", Fragile, etc.). Using the supplied packing list, verify that all items have been received and undamaged during shipment. Verify that all items are complete. Preparations: a. Pending on your configuration, switch OFF the Modem, Power Inserter and/or the Indoor/outdoor Power Supply. b. Disconnect the BLC cables. c. Dismantle the BLC and bring it to the lab. 2. Remove the Fan Cover (1): a. Remove four screws (2) and washers (3) fastening the Cover to the chassis. b. While holding the four Nuts (8) using an open-end wrench, remove four screws (4) and spring washers (5), fastening the Fan (6) to the Cover (1). b. Fasten using four screws (4), eight spring washers (5, 7) and four nuts (8). Fasten the screws and nuts to hand-torque only. 5. Re-install the Fan Cover (1): a. Connect the Fan cable-connector. b. Fasten the Cover to the chassis using four screws (2) and washers (3). 6. Install the BLC (see Section 2.3.1: BLC Mechanical Installation). 7. Pending on your configuration, re-connect the BLC cables (see Section and Section 2.3.4). 8. Operation the BLC (see Section 2.3.5: Operation & Post Installation Checks). 3-5
