Devices Employing the Program Product family: Product type: Manufacturer: Heating Regulator Siemens Name: Temperature Controller UP 250 DELTA studio, titanium white Order-no.: 5WG AB12 Name: Temperature Controller UP 250 DELTA studio, light bronze Order-no.: 5WG AB62 Name: Temperature Controller UP 250 DELTA studio, slate grey Order-no.: 5WG AB72 Name: Temperature Controller UP 251 DELTA fläche, titanium white Order-no.: 5WG AB12 Name: Temperature Controller UP 251 DELTA fläche, electric white Order-no.: 5WG AB42 Name: Temperature Controller UP 251 DELTA fläche, sand Order-no.: 5WG AB52 Name: Temperature Controller UP 252 DELTA profil, titanium white Order-no.: 5WG AB12 Application Description The temperature controller is a continuous controller (PI controller) for, or combined and tasks. The application program compares the actual temperature measured by the temperature controller with the desired and generates the appropriate manipulated. The calculated manipulated s are sent as switching telegram (on/off) to bus devices (e.g. binary output UP 560) that control electrothermal actuators. or as regulating telegrams (0-100%) to controlling motor driven valve actuators. The clear and self explanitory interface includes 5 LEDs to displaying the operating state, a presence button to switching between convenience and stand by modes, and a rotary switch to adjusting the temperature base. This application description is arranged according to the components of the available regulating devices: Regulation (controller) Operating modes Actual temperature Setpoint temperature Regulating output Regulation The temperature is regulated with a digital PI controller which uses a PI algorithm, an arithmetic method, to generate manipulated s. The PI controller's characteristics are determined basically by the proportional gain (KP) and the adjustment period (Tn). The parameter list provides various settings to the two parameters that should be sufficient to most applications. As setting parameters to a controller in this way requires a great deal of experience, the type of or can be specified alternatively, where those parameters are set automatically. The controller can be employed to pure or tasks or to a combination of both (see illustrations 1 to 3). When making a combined and task, the controller either runs in the or mode. The manipulated of the inactive mode is set to 0 % ("off"). Switching between and can be established automatically or manually via the bus (communication object [4]). When using automatic switching (as specified in the parameter list), the parameter "Neutral zone between and " must be considered carefully. Note: The neutral zone (see "Setpoints") must not be chosen too small as this might result in a constant switching between and modes. 3/118 Siemens Technical Manual 1998

Response to bus voltage failure There is no special response of the controller on bus voltage failure. Continuous EIB actuators maintain their manipulated. The response of two step actuators (open/close) as specified in the parameter list. Response to bus voltage restoration On bus voltage restoration the controller switches to stand by mode and s a request to the actual states of the communication objects after approx. 40 sec. Subsequently it switches to the desired operating mode and calculates the temperature as specified. From this and the measured actual temperature an appropriate manipulated is calculated and sent. Commissioning When switched on to the first time, the controller responds in the same way as specified to bus voltage restoration. Operating Modes The temperature controller provides the below operating modes: Convenience mode Stand by mode Night / bank holiday mode Frost / heat protection Dew point alarm ( only) Convenience mode When using the convenience mode the ambient temperature is regulated to meet the specified temperature. The is calculated from the base and the adjustment (- 3 to + 3 C) as selected with the rotary button on the temperature controller's covering plate. The base is a communication object and therefore can be adjusted via the EIB at any time, e.g. to adjusting the according to the outside temperature in summer (summer compensation). As any changes are written to the EEPROM, the should not be changed more than once per day (the average life cycle of a EEPROM is approx writing cycles). A green LED next to the symbol below on the illuminated when using the convenience mode: By operating the presence button the operating mode is changed to stand by. Alternatively, the stand by or night/bank holiday mode can be established via the bus. An appropriate bus telegram could be sent by a push button to controlling operating modes, a time switch, or a PC running visualization software or a scheduling program. If a presence detector is installed in the same room, telegrams to switching to stand by or night/bank holiday mode are delayed until the presence detector signals a "no presence" state. Telegrams delayed in this way are temporarily stored to the temperature controller. Stand by mode When set to stand by mode the ambient temperature is regulated to meet the specified minus e.g. 2 K (as specified in the parameter list) when used to and plus e.g. 2 K (as specified in the parameter list) when used to respectively. Thus, / energy can be saved in rooms that are not used to some hours while the convenience temperature can be established quickly if required. A green LED next to the symbol below on the illuminated when using the stand by mode: By operating the presence button the operating mode is changed to convenience. Alternatively, the convenience or night/bank holiday mode can be established via the bus. If a presence detector is installed in the same room, the convenience mode is established immediately once the presence detector signals a "presence" state. Night mode When set to night/bank holiday mode the ambient temperature is regulated to meet the specified minus e.g. 4 K (as specified in the parameter list) when used to and plus e.g. 4 K (as specified in the parameter list) when used to respectively. Thus, / energy can be saved in rooms that are not used over night or to several days, while temperature will not drop to below the dew point. 3/120 Siemens Technical Manual 1998

A green LED next to the symbol below on the illuminated when using the night/bank holiday mode: When set to night/bank holiday mode, operating the presence button establishes the convenience temperature mode to e.g. 30 minutes (as specified in the parameter list). After that time period the temperature controller automatically returns to the night/bank holiday mode. This allows a central control of all temperature controllers running the night/bank holiday mode while people who want to continue working can still maintain convenience temperature by operating the presence button every 30 minutes. If a presence detector is installed in the same room, the temperature controller will not return to night/bank holiday mode until the presence detector signals a "no presence" state. Frost / heat protection Upon activating a window contact by opening the respective window the temperature controller switches to frost protection when used to and to heat protection when used to respectively. The to establishing the ambient temperature is reduced to e.g. + 7 C to frost protection and raised to e.g C to heat protection (s can be specified in the parameter list). These modifications result in an immediate closing of the / valve. This reduces waste of / energy while avoiding damage to temperature controller or from freezing or over. A red LED next to the symbol below on the illuminated while the frost/heat protection is active: The presence button is disabled and telegrams to switching operating modes are ignored while the frost/heat protection is active. Once the window is closed again, the temperature controller returns to the mode used before the frost/heat protection was activated. When using more than one window contact with a single temperature controller these have to be connected in serial electronically or combined to a single object "frost/heat protection" via a logic module. Frost/heat protection must not be set manually or by a scheduling program to avoid switching to other modes when opening or closing a window. To reducing the temperature of a room which is not used to a longer time period is to below the normal night the convenience temperature's base can be adjusted as desired. Dew point alarm When the temperature controller's dew point alarm is activated by a dew point monitor that can be used with the ceiling, the valve of the ceiling is closed until the alarm is deactivated. A yellow LED next to the symbol below on the illuminated while the dew point alarm is active: The presence button is disabled and telegrams to switching operating modes are ignored while the dew point alarm is active. Frost alarm Once the measured temperature drops below 5 C the 7th bit of the communication object "regulating state" is set and the state object is sent. Convenience extention see use of the presence button in the night/bank holiday mode Actual temperature The actual temperature is measured by the temperature controller's integrated temperature sensor. See appropriate devices in the Technical Product Information chapter to information on measuring range, resolution, and precision to measuring temperature. The actual temperature is sent automatically by the communication object [6] "Actual temperature" on the below events: on switching on the device on bus voltage restoration on each change of the actual temperature by at least e.g. 0,5 K (as specified in the parameter list) The actual temperature can also be manually read via the bus. Siemens Technical Manual /121

The actual temperature that is used to the regulating algorithm (see Regulation) can be balanced manually, i.e. the measured temperature can be increased or decreased by a certain as specified in the parameter list. Setpoints The specified, i.e. the temperature that is to be met by regulation, constitues of the base, the manual adjustment as selected with the temperature controller's rotary switch, and the actual operating mode. The is sent automatically by the communication object [5] "Temperature " on the following events: on switching on the device on bus voltage restoration on each change of operating mode on operating the manual adjustment (rotary switch) The can be read manually via the bus. The below s are available: heat protection night, standby, convenience, convenience, standby, night, frost protection set point if actual > manipulated variable = 0 if actual < Manual adjustment (rotary switch) w m = ± 3 C Stand by mode adjustment range: w SH = K range: w SK = K default: w SH = w SK = 2 K Night mode adjustment range: w NH = K range: w NK = K default: w NH = w NK = 4 K Neutral zone and combination only range: t = 0, K default: t = 2 K Convenience mode : w K = w B + w m : w K = w B + w m + t Stand by mode : w S = w B + w m - w SH : w S = w B + w m + w SK + t Night mode : w N = w B + w m - w NH : w N = w B + w m + w NK + t Frost protection range: C default: 7 C Heat protection range: C default: 35 C Dew point alarm no manipulated = 0 % convenience standby night frost-/ heatprotection operating mode Illustration 4: Temperature s Setpoint base range: w B = C default: w B = 21 C 3/122 Siemens Technical Manual 1998

Regulating output Communication Objects The manipulated s are sent via the communication objects "Manipulated " and "Manipulated ". Generation of continuous manipulated s (see illustration 5) Values are calculated quasi analog at a resolution of 8 bit. The manipulated s to and can be inverted independently and limited in their regulating range as each mode has its own set of parameters. Note: Inverting here means an inversion of the effect caused by the calculated manipulated. 100% 0% calculated 100% regulating output 0% Illustration 5: Continuous manipulated output Generation of two step manipulated s (see illustration 6) The s are calculated based on the open/close duration, Here, the s rule the time period between opening and closing the valve. This time period (T) can be adjusted in the parameter list. T T = period 100% 0% EIN AUS calculated Illustration 6: Two step manipulated output two-step regulating output Note: The order of the entries may vary from the above due to individual customization of the table.
