1 Smooth Operator Configuration Note For Smooth Operator Family of Products Lucent Technologies Voice Processing Module Configuration Note Tadiran Coral I / II / III * E&M Inband with Exacom** Revised 12/2/98 Exacom E&M Board(s) 1 for each 4 ports E&M Lines Block and cable supplied with each board Exacom boards use 4 RJ-14 jacks for E&M lines and 2 RJ-14 jacks for connections to the voice board. E&M StackPack(s) Voice Board(s) Personal Computer E&M Inband signaling used for integration is 1.0 METHOD OF INTEGRATION Inband E&M. The Exacom board converts the E&M signaling, on the E&M line from the Tadiran switch, to Loop Signaling for the Voice Board. Call forward to personal greeting is achieved via DTMF signals passed from the Tadiran to the Smooth Operator. Message waiting indicators are set and canceled by dialing a Prefix code followed by the extension number. A hookflash followed by the extension transfers the caller. Not all administrative possibilities are shown. The scope of this document does not include discussing all features and their interactions. Initial Startup or Default values on the Switch are assumed. The Tadiran Coral System utilizes a Program Interface for programming. Access is through a video display terminal, keyboard send/receive printer terminal, or a data terminal and modem. The following must be accomplished: Configure E&M Conversion Board Define the E&M Trunks Define Trunk Group Configure for Inband Signaling Configure Trunks for Automated Attendant
4 Tadiran Coral I/II/III with Exacom E&M Confidential Page 4 In the following example a four port Voice Mail system is used. Specific extension numbers are used for Smooth Operator trunk group, trunks and subscriber stations. The example assumes the following: The Tadiran E&M trunks for Smooth Operator are configured Type I, 2-Wire, originate using the M lead, and will receive supervisory signals on the E lead. The Smooth Operator access code is 83 The trunk numbers for Smooth Operator are 7100 to 7103 Public library codes are in the range 6000 to 6999 Private library codes are in the range 7000 to 7009 and or above. Note: Entries in bold italic type indicate where information must be entered. 5.1 CONFIGURE HARDWARE The E&M lines from the Tadiran must be configured to match the E&M conversion board. Type I 2-wire is recommended, as that is the easiest to install mode supported by the Exacom. Exacom - Strap for Type I side B 2-wire 600 ohm. Note: Although the Exacom board supports both 2 and 4 wire E&M lines, 2 wire E&M is recommended. For the strapping of the Exacom board for 4 wire E&M you will have to consult either the Exacom manual or Exacom Technical Support. Switch Settings Exacom General Description Installation and Operation Manual D, for the E&M-400SF PC Card, section 4.21 discusses switch settings. SWITCH 1 (SW1) and SWITCH 2 (SW2) control the interface options that apply to all channels of the 4 port card. These options determine how the ports will interface with the Central Office of the Station Equipment. Set the individual switches on SW1 and SW2 as shown below. (All should be set to OFF.) 14 Tadiran Coral I/II/III with Exacom E&M Confidential Page 14 Note: Verify these dialing sequences for your PBX Important notes concerning this integration 7.0 CONSIDERATIONS / ALTERNATIVES The following items should be considered, below: Silence Always Heard by Caller Clipping of Greetings with Electronic Key Sets Supervised Transfers Speed-Dial Numbers Tadiran Does Not Support Double Call Forward Calling Party ID Not Supported 7.1 SILENCE ALWAYS HEARD BY CALLER Since the Exacom 400SF card is a true Store Forward card, the caller will hear 4 to 6 seconds of silence before hearing the personal greeting of the called party. It may be possible to fill this silence period using the Tadiran 4VSN Digital Voice Card to voice an announcement. We have not yet been able to test the system using the 4VSN card in this scenario. Your input and feedback would be appreciated. Please refer to the 4VSN manual for information on programming the Digital Voice Card to play a message on a forwarding condition. 7.2 CLIPPING OF GREETINGS WITH ELECTRONIC KEY SETS Electronic Key sets on the Tadiran system have a 300ms delay before audio path cut-through after any DTMF key has been pressed. This will cause the beginning of greetings or prompts to be clipped when users call into the Smooth Operator system from this type of set. Tadiran technical support can remotely call in and apply a patch to change the delay 100 ms. 7.3 SUPERVISED TRANSFERS - RHETOREX Supervised transfers are not recommended on Rhetorex cards. 7.4 SPEED-DIAL NUMBERS Tadiran requires one speed-dial number per subscriber to support forward to personal greeting. The Tadiran PBX supports 4000 speed-dial numbers as a standard feature. 7.5 TADIRAN DOES NOT SUPPORT DOUBLE CALL FORWARD Tadiran does not support double Call Forward to personal greeting of original called party. This is due to the fact that each extension is forwarded to its own speed-dial number which sends its extension number to Smooth Operator.
