3 3 1. Fixture Information 1.1 Application Range This fixture is designed for USB2.0 Device Test. It can support Device High Speed Signal Quality, Device Packet Parameters, Device Suspend/Resume/Reset and Device CHRIP Measurements. Page 3 of 23

7 7 To setup for the High Speed Signal Quality test, follow these steps: 1. Using the USB2.0 Fixture ; Set the SW4 switch to the Initiate Position. 2. Set the SW5 switch to the Self Power. 3. Set the SW6 switch to Rp (Which s set DUT as a Device) 4. Connect a standard USB cable (A to C or C to C) between the Type C-INIT port (P18) and the host PC port. 5. Connect the Type C port (P17) of the test fixture to the Device Under Test. 6. Apply the External Power (P25) to the test fixture. 7. If needed apply power to the DUT. 8. Connect the two SMA cables from CH1 and CH2 of the oscilloscope to the SMA connections label D+ & D- respectively. 9. Run the High-Speed Electrical Test Tool software on the host PC. EHCI_HSETT main menu shown in figure below. Page 7 of 23

8 8 10. Configure the device into the test mode from the host PC controller. Select TEST_PACKET from the Device Command dropdown menu and click EXECUTE. 11. Set the SW4 switch to the Test Position. This will isolate the unit under test, then signals path will change from Host PC to SMA. SW4 Test Position 12. On the scope, set your Math channel to Ch1 - Ch2 Page 8 of 23

9 9 13. Adjust the scope Horizontal scale so that one complete packet is displayed 14. Save Math waveform as a CSV (*.csv) or Tek Waveform (*.wfm) for later processing. 15. Using USB Electrical Analysis Tool 2.0 (Download from USB.org) to check the below items, EL_2 Transmitter Data Rate EL_4 Eye Pattern(Template1) EL_5 Eye Pattern(Template2) EL_6 Rising and Falling Time EL_7 Monotonic Data Transition Page 9 of 23

11 11 To set up the test fixture, follow these steps: 1. Set the SW4 switch to the Initiate Position. 2. Set the SW5 switch to the Self Power. 3. Set the SW6 switch to the Rp. 4. Connect the standard USB cable between the Type C Init port (P18) and the host PC port. 5. Connect the Type C port (P17) of the test fixture to the Device Under Test. 6. Apply the External Power (P25) to the test fixture. 7. If needed apply power to the DUT. 8. Attach the probe on the pin head of the test fixture. Using differential probe (figure2) or two single-end probes (figure 3 in page 15, Math=Ch1-Ch2). 9. Run the High-Speed Electrical Test Tool software on the host PC. EHCI_HSETT main menu shown in figure below. Page 11 of 23

12 Configure the device into the test mode from the host PC controller. Select SINGLE STEP SET FEATURE from the Device Command dropdown menu and click EXECUTE. 11. The oscilloscope capture should appear as follows: Page 12 of 23

13 Follow the oscilloscope vendor steps in the below compliance test items EL_21 Sync Field Length Test EL_22 Measures the inter-packet gap between the second (from host) and the third (from device in response to the host). EL_25 EOP width (number of bits) for all transmitted packets 13. The Scope should still be setup from previous measurement. Press Step from EHCI HS Electrical Test Tool 14. The scope should acquire the two packets as seen in the following figure. Page 13 of 23

16 16 To set up the test fixture, follow these steps: 1. Set the SW4 switch to the Initiate Position. 2. Set the SW5 switch to the Self Power. 3. Set the SW6 switch to the Rp. 4. Connect the standard USB cable between the Type C Init port (P18) and the host PC port. 5. Connect the Type C port (P17) of the test fixture to the Device Under Test. 6. Apply the External Power (P25) to the test fixture. 7. If needed apply power to the DUT. 8. Connect two single-end probes to the D+ and D- pins. 9. In the EHCI Electrical Test Tool application- select SUSPEND from the Device Command dropdown menu and click EXECUTE once. Page 16 of 23

In the EHCI Electrical Test Tool application- select RESUME from the Device Command dropdown and click EXECUTE once. This will resume the device from suspend state. Page 17 of 23

In the EHCI Electrical Test Tool application- select RESET from the Device Command dropdown menu and click EXECUTE once. Page 18 of 23

Apply the External Power (P25) to the test fixture. 7. If needed apply power to the DUT. 8. Connect two single-end probes to the D+ and D- pins. 9.
