2 1.1 Source of supply With the long-range reader ID RW24.ABC-A, a shield antenna of the dimensions 800mm X 600mm or 500mm X 400mm may be ordered. These items are available at FEIG ELECTRONIC GmbH. 1.2 Connection of a shield antenna Picture shows the structure of a shield antenna in principle. The preferred orientation of a transponder for a secure identification is parallel to the shield surface. 1.3 Field orientation of the antenna Picture b shows the field orientation of a simple shield antenna. It is the simplest and most employed type of antenna with a range of application mostly in the access control of persons. 3 1.4 Ranges Dependent on the environmental conditions, the following reader ranges can be obtained, if the orientation of the transponder to the antenna is parallel and central. ID ANTRW.8060-A transponder type range ID DTK.A ID CTK.B 660 mm 700 mm ID ANTRW.5040-A transponder type range ID DTK.A ID CTK.B 560 mm 570 mm 1.5 Connecting the shield antenna to the ID AT-A The connection of the shield antenna is executed via the automatic antenna tuner ID AT-A at the terminals X2. In order to do this, lead the cable through the corresponding attachment screw. Eventually replace the cable screw-joint for ribbon cables by a screw-joint for round cables. Picture Connecting plan of a shield antenna 1.6 Checking and debugging If the automatic antenna tuner doesn't tune correctly, cabling errors easily can be detected by means of an Ohm-Meter. The fading of an operation control (LED) is no indicator for an interrupted power supply or the appliance being without voltage! = Working with the opened appliance, please consider that leading parts near the transformer, the relays and the connector terminal are bare. = Works at the appliance and its installation have to be executed according to the national legal requirements and local prescriptions. = The user is responsible for the installation, application and connecting of the appliance according to the technical standards of the installation country and other valid prescriptions. Dimensions of wires and cables, safety regulations, earthing, separation, insulation control and overcurrent protection have to be considered in particular.
