2 Overview in the network of radiosounding stations in Vietnam. Radiosounding observation is a important and primary class of meteorological measurements in upper air in Vietnam. The network of radiosounding stations which existed for 50 years, consists of 6 stations, that are stations of Dien Bien, Son La, Ha Noi, Vinh, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh. Presently, the network of radiosounding stations over Vietnam country is under the guidance and management of Aero-Meteorological Observatory, including 3 stations located at 3 equal sites in distance: Ha Noi, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh.

3 1. Ha Noi station: Site: 21 o 01 N; 105 o 48 E Observation: 2 times per day (at 00Z and 12Z) 2. Da Nang station: Site: 16 o 03 N; 108 o 12 E Observation: 2 times per day (at 00Z and 12Z) 3. Ho Chi Minh station: Site: 10 o 49 N; 106 o 49 E Observation: 1 times per day (at 00Z )

4 Many kinds of the different radiosounding systems have been equipped for measurement in these stations. Such as Malakhit, Meteorit systems made by Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. For last 10 years, the network of radiosounding stations in Vietnam have been equipped the observation system of DigiCORA, VAISALA. And, the whole of that equipment system of DigiCORA were upgraded in 02/2006, became the DigiCORA III system.

6 Radiosounding data and using the radiosounding data in Vietnam. Radiosounding data in Vietnam which has been existed rather continuously during over 50 years is regulated measurements. Currently we built the radiosounding database for using in prediction, studies and the others both in Vietnam and in oversea countries.

7 In Vietnam, this database actually has meet many different demands and objectives. Such as: For students and researchers in universities to study. For research Projects or Program (including international cooperative Projects or Program). Such as for ASEAN and GAME Program. For instruction, aviation. For sport activities (example for SEAGAME 22) For controlling pollution and studying transport pollution in atmosphere.

8 Activities of Ha Noi radiosounding station in the GAME/ SOWER Pacific Program. To support the objectives of study in the GAME/ SOWER Pacific cooperative Program, many observations were carried out at Ha Noi radiosounding station. Here, measurements focused on finding the vertical profiles of ozone and water concentrations. In years of 2004 and 2005, distribution of ozone and water vapor observations is relatively dense and regular, approximately 1 time per month. There are two series of intensive radiosounding observation in December 2004 and March Again, the period of continuous ozone and water vapor observation was also conducted in January 2006.

10 All measurements for the GAME/SOWER Pacific cooporative Program above were estimated to be high quality. The results of ozone and water vapor observation in Ha Noi radiosounding station are illustrated below:

12 Conclusion Although the network of radiosounding stations in Vietnam is not dense, measured equipments of stations is good and its activities is stable with high quality data. These can be very good conditions to support researchers in using and exploiting the radiosounding data resource for several objectives of prediction and study. We are always open and willing to share the valuable radiosounding data resource to aim at solving the meteorological, climatological problems in the region and global.
