9 Arrangement The two main frames "central functions 1" and "central functions 2" are equipped with the modules of the output unit. The output combiner, two output amplifiers and two pilot generators are located in the main frame "central functions 1" (BGT ZF1 501). The combiner amplifier is located in the main frame "central functions 2" (BGT ZF2 501). The modules are slid from the front onto the guide rails and into the main frame and are electrically connected with the rear panel assembly by way of a plug in connection located at the back of the module. All input are located at the rear side of the main frame. The data processors are fixed at the rear side of the main frame. ü Output unit 2-3

11 Combiner amplifier SVE 5.. The 6-way combiner amplifier is needed, when more than 24 TV-channels are transmitted. It combines the outputs of 6 RF combiners with a gain of 0 db or 3 db depending on the type.. SVE 502 (606 MHz) l 4 inputs with a gain of 0 db l 2 inputs with a gain of 3 db SVE 551 (862 MHz) and SVE 503 (606 MHz) l 6 inputs with a gain of 0 db E.g. MAC channels can be fed in at inputs with 3 db gain. CAUTION: Not used in- and outputs have to be terminated with 50 ohm! Block diagram see data sheet Output combiner ASF 5.1 The TV- and FM-channels as well as the pilots and the data signals are connected with the broadband passive output combiner. The output combiner has the following in- and outputs: l l l l l 4 TV inputs 1 FM input 2 pilot inputs 1 data input 2 equivalent RF outputs On the front panel there is one each 50 ohm and 75 ohm output. CAUTION: Not used in- and outputs have to be terminated with 50 ohm! Block diagram see data sheet ü Output unit 2-5
12 Output amplifier AV 5.. Block diagram The output amplifier amplifies the signal of the output combiner and feeds it to the distribution network. It includes a reverse channel branch for the decoupling of the reverse channel and a power inserter (50V/6A) for the supply of the trunk amplifiers. The remote voltage is generated in the modules remote supply and led to the output amplifier through the rear panel assembly. The transformation of the system-internal 50 ohm impedance to 75 ohm is also effected in the output amplifier. On the front panel there are the following in- and outputs (75 ohm): l RF output l 2 RF monitoring outputs l trunk wobbler input l reverse channel monitoring output OUTPUT AMPLIFIER AV 5.. 13 Pilot generator PG 501 The pilot generator is producing a pilot to control the trunk amplifier. Frequency range Pilot filter Stabilize the pilot frequency Output level LED "PILOT" The frequency can be tuned from MHz in 5 khz steps with hook-switches located on the board. Two plug-in pilot filters, that have to be adjusted to the pilot frequency are supressing broadband noise. To stabilize the pilot frequency, the pilot generator can be locked to an external 1 MHz reference frequency (e.g. standard frequency). The output level of the pilot may be tuned in the range of dbm. The level can be changed by ±2 dbm with the potentiometer "PILOT". If this is not sufficient, the output level may be changed with switches, located on the board. The LED "PILOT" lights up, if the output signal is present. Additionally the information, if the output signal is present is available through the report line "PILOT PRES." at the rear panel. "PILOT OFF" Substitution switch The output signal can be switched off through the report line "PILOT OFF". With two pilot generators a substitution switch easily can be realized by leading the report line "PILOT PRES." of the operating unit to the control line "PILOT OFF" of the spare unit. 18 Putting into operation CAUTION: - Only trained staff are permitted to put the main frames and modules into operation. - If a module is steamed up after unpacking, please allow it to become acclimated for at least one hour before sliding it into the main frame. NOTE: For putting into operation please see the last two pages of this manuel ( and ) Putting into operation of the main frames The following instructions are valid for the main frame "central functions 1" and "central functions 2". 1. Fix the data processor at the rear side of the main frame. 2. Connect the data processor to the connector ST 41 on the rear panel assembly. 3. Flip down the connector plate. 4. Check the wiring at the rear side. 5. Flip up the connector plate and fix it into place. 6. Slide the main frame from the front into the rack, taking care, that the connector plate is on the right hand side. 7. Fix the main frame onto the rack with the two screws provided. 8. Connect the RF wiring to the connector plate. 9. Connect the data processor to the data-bus. Fix the connector using the sliding plate (refer to the rack instruction manual). 10. Connect the supply voltage to the connector ST 40 on the rear panel assembly Output unit ü
19 Putting into operation of the output unit Requirements The modules are tuned correctly. The instructions for this are in Chapter "Service". Putting into operation 1. Remove the red protective strip from the rear side of the module. Keep them for re-use when transporting or storing the modules. 2. Slide the modules into the place stipulated for them in the main frame. You can see the correct place from the labelling on the main frame (see and ). 3. Fix the modules with the 2 or 4 screws resp. at the front panel on the main frame. 4. Connect the RF wiring on the front side of the output amplifier. 5. Check, if no red LED lights up. If one LED lights up, please see "help with problems". 6. Check, if the green LED "PILOT" lights up. If not - see "help with problems". 7. Connect a suitable measuring instrument (e.g. PME 350) to the monitoring output "RF" of the output combiner. 8. Tune the output level of the pilot with the potentiometer "PILOT OUT". Is the tuning range not sufficient, the output level additionally can be changed by means of two hook-switches (S22, S23) on the assembly (see data sheet 1190). 9. Tune the output level at the up converters, FM modulators and FM converters to the levels necessary for this system. CAUTION: Not used in- and outputs of the combining amplifiers and of the output combiner must be terminated with 50 ohm. ü Output unit 2-13
