2 Multipoint measuring units UPM100 and Centipede100 HBM s multipoint measurement technique has proved reliable in practice for many years. The UPM100 and Centipede100 multipoint measuring units comprise the experience and technical know-how that is needed in the different fields of application for multipoint measurement techniques. Static and quasi-static measurement tasks can be performed by a self-contained measurement system or in conjunction with a computer. The devices have a suitable amplifier for every transducer: a DC-voltage amplifier for thermocouples, voltage and current sources, a 600Hz carrier frequency amplifier for measurements with strain gauges and a 4.8kHz carrier frequency amplifier for inductive transducers. Each measuring point can be adjusted individually to suppress interference. Typical fields of application are experimental stress analysis, for monitoring buildings and bridges, for example, and applications in the research and development sectors to determine the properties of components, materials or even entire systems in mechanical engineering and in the motor and aviation industries. UPM100 is designed so that it can be used as a selfcontained measurement system. The front panel is used for measurement and control functions. Measuring points and device parameters are modified using the separate keyboard, in dialogue mode. The integrated strip printer is provided to log the measurement sequences or to print out the device parameters. The UPM100 can also be fully computercontrolled via the integrated interfaces.
