What will this mean for the traditional discipline of making impressions? On the one hand, an important development is of course the concept of intraoral scanning and continued processing, which has grown significantly in the recent past. On the other hand, users are still looking for a holistic solution that allows them to work digitally with conventional impressions. Kettenbach is the first dental solutions provider to offer a complete system that addresses this demand: Precision impressions, situation impressions and bite registrations can now be achieved with the modern, scannable impression materials we have in our range. The scannable versions of our products Identium, Silginat and Futar enable users to obtain conventional impressions and use them in conjunction with digital solutions. The system provides an interface between traditional impressions and digital data processing in the CAD/CAM workflow. Dental practices can now seize the benefits of the digital world without having to make major conversions or huge investments. The benefits are instantly evident: The solution ensures the concise translation of all indications into digital data no scanning spray or powder required. It can also be used for infragingival applications or in hard-to-reach areas of rows of teeth. The work can be performed in the manner the user is familiar with; there is no need to invest in hardware or software and he or she can still reap the benefits of the digital world. After scanning the impression, dental laboratories can continue with their work immediately without having to make a model (digital data is designed and sent to a dental milling center). As an alternative, the system can also be used as a supplement to an existing intraoral scanner (e.g. for the inclusion of areas for which impressions were made with an Identium Scan product, given that they cannot otherwise not be recorded by the intraoral system). 2 Page 2 of 6 Identium Scan: The Identium precision impression material family is based on a newly developed proprietary material called Vinylsiloxanether (VSXE ). Besides optimum imaging results in scanning processes, it offers excellent flowability and extraordinary hydrophilic properties as well as distinct elasticity. Our range comprises three products in different viscosities that have been optimized specifically for the leading infrared technology (available, for instance, from 3Shape or Dental Wings). The Identium Scan product family consists of the following: Identium Scan Medium medium-viscosity, scan-optimized impression material in our Plug & Press System (foil bag material, 362ml, 5:1); best for use in conjunction with the one-step impression technique. Identium Scan Heavy high-viscosity, scan-optimized impression material in our Plug & Press system (foil bag material, 362ml, 5:1); best for use in conjunction with crown/bridge, inlay/onlay and veneer impressions using the double-mix technique in combination with Identium Scan Light. Identium Scan Light low-viscosity, scan-optimized impression material in a cartridge (50ml, 1:1); best for use in conjunction with crown/bridge, inlay/onlay and veneer impressions using the double-mix technique in combination with Identium Scan Heavy. Identium combines the best of two worlds. As immediately evident from the product name, the scannable impression materials presented herein are part of the Identium product family, which is based on the newly developed Vinylsiloxanether material. Vinylsiloxanether creates a synthesis that combines the characteristics of Polyether and A-silicones i.e. a combination of the best of two worlds: outstanding flowability paired with extraordinary hydrophilic and distinct elastic properties. Identium is odorless and tasteless and can be easily removed from the patient s mouth (and from plaster models). It delivers impressions that meet the highest standards of precision. Identium Scan makes this standard directly transferable to the CAD/CAM workflow. The result: perfect imaging results that guarantee maximum precision.

3 The benefits of Identium at a glance: Page 3 of 6 Excellent flowability and maintenance of high stability: Thanks to its temperature sensitive rheology system, the material will flow into the tightest crevices of the sulcus. The distinct flowability remains consistent throughout the entire length of the working time regardless of whether a single crown or a multi-component bridge has to be fabricated. The exceptional hydrophilic properties ensure optimum initial flow properties in moist environments at the lowest attainable contact angle (less than 10º after 1 second) the basis for maximum precision in one-step impression technique. Optimum elastomer properties and balanced tear resilience ensure true-todimension resetting and easy removability from the mouth. Identium Scan: Thanks to the balanced setting behavior and double-snap effect, the impression has to remain in the mouth for only a short period of time while it provides sufficient time for working. Identium is odorless and tasteless. This relieves the impact on the patient and does not provoke gagging reflexes. This prevents the creation of blurred impressions. Model fabrication is as easy as it is precise down to every minute detail. The risk of fracture during removal is minimal, so that the dental technician enjoys all of the benefits of optimum basic materials at its disposal. Identium can be handled with great ease using the practical Plug & Press System. It is compatible with commonly used disinfectants that are readily available on the market and does not swell. It can be poured immediately; no wait required. Efficient handling: Identium is, among other options, available in the time-tested practical foil bag, making it the perfect foundation for standardized practice applications: It is always mixed perfectly in terms of consistency and quantity, and ensures clean, fast, and safe handling. 2. Identium Scan Light indications Identium Scan Light is a scannable, low-viscosity impression material that can be injected for use in conjunction with the one-step impression technique (double-mix), which is used for direct injection around the applicable areas in the patient s mouth (in combination with Identium Heavy tray material) for the following indications: Impressions for the fabrication of crowns, bridges, inlays/onlays and veneers Lining impressions Impressions taken of patients with removable dentures

4 Identium Scan Light in cartridges Page 4 of 6 Identium Scan Light is offered in the familiar practical 1:1 cartridge with a fill volume of 50 ml. These cartridges can be used in standard conventional manual dispensing devices for 1:1 cartridges, e.g. the Applyfix 4. To ensure that the product can be readily pushed out of the cartridge and to make the injection around prepared teeth even more convenient, Identium Light is mixed using a color-coded mixing tip (yellow) with an interior diameter of 4.2 mm and a short shaft. All technical information and recommendations are based on the use of this mixing tip, which ensures that only a small of material is wasted so that users will not only appreciate its easy handling but also its cost-effective performance. 3. Step-by-step instructions for perfectly concise impressions with Identium Scan Light Identium Scan was developed specifically for use with the one-step impression technique (mono-phase or double-mix) and can be readily integrated into the processes in the dental practice. 1. Stiff, non-perforated impression trays or individual plastic trays can be used to make impressions using Identium. 2. In order to warrant that the essential bond with the impression tray is created, the adhesive lacquer for Vinylsiloxanether Identium should be used. 3. In order to accommodate the respective indication or dental scenario for which an impression is to be fabricated, the Identium Scan product family offers the respective material viscosities: Identium Scan Medium, Identium Scan Heavy and Identium Scan Light. 4. The selected tray materials can be easily mixed automatically and homogenously in the Plug & Press System and are subsequently dispensed into the tray. 5. To inject material around the preparation when using the double-mix technique, use Identium Light in the 1:1 cartridge (as an alternative, use injectioncompatible tray material Identium Scan Medium). 6. Taking into account the working time, insert the impression tray filled with Identium Scan Heavy (or Medium) into the patient s mouth and take the impression. After just a few minutes in the patient s mouth, the impression can be removed easily and with minimal force. 7. Rinse the impression with water and subsequently disinfect it (impressions made with Identium can be disinfected readily with any standard disinfectant and will not swell). 8. Next, Identium impressions can be placed in a compatible scanner immediately to create a digital image. For this purpose, the scanner must have the necessary software for impression scanning. It is possible to fabricate a plaster impression as an alternative or supplement.

5 Page 5 of 6 9. Gloves: Just as when you use any other impression materials, please remember that certain brands of gloves can damage the catalyst in Identium Scan. This applies regardless of whether the contact with the glove is direct or indirect. In any event, gloves should be tested for compatibility by applying a sample of the impression mass to the glove. Gloves that are not compatible will leave a smudged layer on the product. 10. Contaminations: The contamination of Identium Scan by other impression materials (A-silicones, polyether materials, etc.) can result in delays in the setting of the material. Consequently, any such contact must principally be averted (this also applies to previously used application syringes and other tools). 11. The compatibility of Identium with standard astringents has been thoroughly tested; no incompatibilities were detected if the products were used properly. 12. Use of proper mixing tips In order to obtain optimum mixing homogeneity and consequently an optimum impression result, we recommend the exclusive use of dynamic mixers available from Kettenbach (Item No ) for Identium Scan foil bag material, and the exclusive use of static mixers available from Kettenbach (e.g. Item No ) for Identium Scan 1:1 cartridge material. 4.
