I. SCOPE OF THE SPECIFICATION: The following Technical Specifications define the technical requirements for the materials supplied to the Skleniarz Printer, NIP number , general quality standards of products produced by the Printer, quality-controlled parameters and criteria for their acceptance. II. BASIC DEFINITIONS: Proof certification - the process of checking of proof workmanship accuracy, consisting of determining the color difference between the target and the measured values on test strip fields placed on the proof. The targets are defined on the basis of the ICC profile of which the proof is made. Certified Proof - a proof with attached results of the measurement of E color difference. The color difference may not exceed the tolerance limit specified in the Basic Qualitative Standards, as defined in Chapter IV of the Technical Specifications. CMYK - is a model of color space which consists of four basic colors (cyan, magenta, yellow and black), commonly used in the printing and computer graphics creation. Multicolored print is produced by combining appropriate proportions of colors that can result in a value from 0% to 100%. Materials for printing should be prepared in these colors. Reference materials - materials used as a pattern of colors in the printing process. A certified contract proof or a sheet accepted by the Customer can be reference materials. A non-certified proof or a print from previous editions can also be reference materials, however, the color on the pattern will be treated by the Printer as a general reference. Inner margins the use of wide, a minimum of 3-4 mm, margins protects important graphic elements against being trimmed in bookbinding and specifically enhances the aesthetics of the finished product. Monitor - keep in mind that uncalibrated monitors do not represent colors in a reliable manner. Verification of colors is done with the use of a certified digital proof prepared upon the request of a Customer. Pantone colors are verified with appropriate templates. Self cover a cover printed together with the pages of the publication on a single printing sheet. External pages are the cover. PDF - file format. PDF is a postscript production, closed file. It is recognized by machines in preparation for printing and printing. Printing with a well-prepared PDF provides high probability of what we can see on the screen being the same what is later printed. Open files or files opened at the printer s the printer will not accept works in the form of the socalled open files and it does not open closed files due to the possibility of errors in print for which the printer bears no responsibility.

Non-productive files - files which cannot be used for carrying out the order. Any necessary adjustments must be made before the files go to the printer. Production files - files delivered to the printing purpose of the contract. Such files must be prepared very carefully, without errors and without having to make any adjustments and changes Screen proof work image work in jpg or pdf (not necessarily in high definition). It shows the contents of the substantive work. It is not a reference color. Contract proof reference material simulating the real effect of the printing process using the given technique of printing as faithfully as possible. Certification is the basis to consider a proof as a contract proof. Contract proofs should be made using the final files accepted by the Customer for print. ICC Profile a digital file containing color characteristics of the device. This profile is consistent with the requirements laid down by the ICC Specification. RGB - a color space model used in digital media: monitors, digital cameras. It is also used in computer graphics to create web pages, it rules the virtual world in the graphics displayed on the screen Distribution List - a document in the form of a table containing information on how to prepare batches of copies, stating the quantities (standard parcels, pallets, number of pallets), versions of the release, delivery addresses, sorting, packaging and labeling of the copies. Bleed the print area around graphics with a width of about 3 mm going beyond the edge of the expected net page format. No bleed causes errors in bookbinding operations. Trim Box - an area defined in the PDF format, determining the net page format (after printing and trimming). The document delivered to the printer must have a Trim Box defined. The value given at the first position is the width and the second one is the height of the work. Formats should be defined in millimeters. Prepared production files should be of a size compatible with the format of binding. Formatting marks - all the marks should be placed outside the bleed to just touch the outer edge. Marks should not be placed in the area visible in the final binding. Lack of marks is a fatal error. In this case, it is impossible to determine the correct position of margins and the cutting line. In special cases, a box or another shape can be drawn to mark the edge of, for example, the cutter. Punch you can draw. This should be done in a spot color (Pantone) with the overprint option. III. TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS OF MATERIAL PREPARATION FOR PRINTING 1. Preparation and delivery of digital content 1.1. Before saving the file as a PDF:

check the geometric dimensions of the project, whether they comply with the order and in the case of covers, veneers and wrappers, with the supplied scheme; check whether final proofreading was made; check whether the layout of the publication does not require adjustments; check whether there are any marks, scales, etc. left in prohibited places, i.e. wherever they are present in the finished product; check whether graphics are converted to CMYK; check whether each side of the paper has correct bleeds; check whether graphics are in appropriate resolution; check whether fonts are embedded or fonts are converted to curves After saving files as a PDF, but before sending it to the printer: check whether resolution has not decreased while recording; check whether bleeds and allowances for wrapping drawings have been preserved; check whether all graphics are converted to CMYK and RGB and no RGB in allowed in any of the files; check whether any marks etc. are left in places where they should not be; check whether physical formats have been properly marked; check whether there have been no unexpected changes in the design The printer executes orders from files which are designed, prepared and supplied by the Customer All files, before sending them to be produced, are checked for technical preparation for printing 1.5. Digital materials should be delivered via the Internet by means of InSite, using the tools contained therein. Location and data enabling access; username and password are provided by the Title Guardian in the Printer s Customer Service Office. Digital materials can be delivered via FTP (File Transfer Protocol) to the designated server: ftp.skleniarz.eu Proper location and data enabling access to the server - login (user name) and password are made available by the Title Guardian in the Printer s customer service, providing services for your Publishing House. Digital materials can also be delivered on the most popular formatted digital data carriers for PC or Mac systems (CD-ROM or DVD) The printer in no case downloads files from customer s server, the possibility of sending files via is also excluded Each time, when sending files to an FTP server, please confirm it via an or a telephone. Files cannot be sent to any other address than the one indicated Pages should be prepared in the form of the following files: Postscript level 1, 2 or 3 (separated or composite); PDF 1.2, 1.3, 1.4 (separated or composite); PDF/X-1a:2001;

PDF 1.5 (separated or composite - files must not have layers and JPEG 2000 compression). The printer recommends composite files, prepared in 1: 1 scale with portrait orientation. It is permissible to use both composite and separated files in the same publication. A separate file must be generated for each of the pages. In the case of spreads, separate files should be created for the left and the right; (2) PDF files created from PS files in Adobe Distiller 5.0 or higher, PDF version compatible with PDF 1.4, 1.5, 1.6 (files with settings and drivers available on our website...); (2) PDF or PS (composite) files are preferred; (2) Color separation should be prepared as one file; (2) PDF files may not contain ICC profiles or be created on the OPI server; All graphic elements should be defined using the standard CMYK triad; In the areas represented in the finished product using triad paints, it is unacceptable to use elements saved in RGB or other color spaces. Even if color conversion of RGB to CMYK is possible, the ranges of CMYK and RGB colors do not overlap. The CMYK color palette is poorer and, when converting from RGB to CMYK, the program selects similar colors but not the same. As a result, the use of such a solution leads to unintended changes in color; If the work is printed using Pantone colors, the corresponding vector objects should be defined as Pantone colors. The intention of printing with Pantone colors should be reported at the stage of calculation of the prices and then they should be consciously used in the prepared file production; In order to obtain richer black depth effect in solid areas, black should be generated from 4 colors. The recommended components are: For coated papers: C 70, M 60, Y-60 and K 100 For uncoated papers: C 50, M 40, Y-40, K 100 Optionally, to increase the effect of black, black apple may have 60% of Cyan added; The sum of paints layered should not exceed 330% for coated papers and 280% for uncoated; All fonts used in the work must be attached to the file or converted to curves. Files for black and white prints should be prepared in GRAYSCALE Black texts on a colored background must be overprinted. Black texts should have only one component color 100% K The work must define the net format (Trim Box), applying formatting marks enabling correct determination of the positions of all the edges The file must be made with the use of the CMYK palette. Inner margins must be properly set - the distance of graphics and text from the cutting line should be 5 mm Selected bleeds should be 3-5 mm Image resolution of digital files: Minimum Optimal Maximum 250 dpi 300 dpi 450 dpi

The printer will reduce the solution of all color and grayscale images with a resolution higher than 450 dpi to 300 dpi. Providing graphics with a lower resolution than the minimum indicates acceptance of reduced quality of the image reproduction The resolution of 1-bit images should not exceed 2400 dpi resolution Graphic elements must not include attached profiles (no tagged profiles) Graphic elements must not include OPI (Open Prepress Interface) comments It is not permitted to introduce copy-dot elements in files without prior arrangements with the Printer Before sending materials to the Printer, it is recommended to check the files with an appropriate program, for example: Enfocus PitStop or Adobe Acrobat, from 6.0, in order to detect the most frequent errors. The Printer does not performs adjustments of the provided files The date of the delivery of digital materials shall be the moment of the delivery of complete materials not requiring adjustment Failure to meet the deadline for delivery of digital materials may delay shipment of the finished product, for which the printer is not responsible. 2. Generating Files 2.1. The printer recommends composite PDF files generated by the exporting from Adobe or QuarkXpress, or resulting from converting PS files with the use of Adobe Acrobat Distiller version In case of doubt, please send us sample files and contact the Title Guardian In the case of starting cooperation, providing test files is obligatory. 3. CtP exposure applicable parameters settings 3.1. The default parameters used by the Printer are: Classic raster Raster angles used in printing: C 165 o, M 45 o, Y 0 o, K 105 o Exposure resolution 2400 dpi Ruling is dependent on the quality of paper from 120 to 175 lpi Elliptical shape Stochastic raster Hybrid raster Dot size m 3.2. The use of rasters with different parameters should be agreed with the Title Guardian. 4. File Naming 4.1. All files delivered to the Printer should be named according to the following schemes nnn_el.opr_kw_kt_ww_v1_spot_a.ext

where: nnn - the number of columns in publications (e.g. 001, 002, etc.) el.opr - does not apply for the inside or the self cover, cov - cover, cov - veneer, bookjack - bookjacket, unmark front, unmark rear, etc. KT - title code (section title) KW - publisher code ww - issue number for cyclic editions or a volume v1 file mutation, apply when the file has several versions, eg. language (v1, v2) spot when other color than CMYK is used if the file file version, use, if it is necessary to send file patch (e.g. b, c) ext - file extension (e.g. PDF, PS) Example: 005_Baśnie_WM_pdf - page 5. Tales WM Publishing House 005_Baśnie_WM_a.pdf the first file patch, page 5 002_okł_Baśnie_WM_spot_pdf - the second page of the cover with a color other than CMYK 4.2. The file name should only contain the essential information. Avoid long names that contain unnecessary information In the case of a failure to comply with the file naming scheme, the Printer is not responsible for problems resulting therefrom W nazwie pliku nie wolno umieszczać polskich znaków, spacji, oraz znaków specjalnych (* >? ; / itp.). Dopuszczalne jest tylko zastosowanie znaku podkreślenia _ jak w powyższych przykładach. The file name must not include Polish characters, spaces, and special characters (*>?, / Etc.). It is only permitted the use of an underscore _ as in the examples above 5. Layout 5.1. Each page should have bleeds of at least 3 mm on all sides 5.2. Important text or graphic elements should be situated at a distance of at least 4 mm from the cutting line In the case of glued binding, remember that pages 2 and 3 of the cover and the first and last page of the inner part will be glued 5mm from the back of the side, which reduces the effective format of spreads. In case of failure to take account of this condition, cutouts of part of the image will appear, caused by the binding process. Page format should remain the same, subject to change only in the size of the image on the page Trim box size must be consistent with the net page format 5.5. In glued bonging there is a reduction in the effective size of the sides due to incomplete copy opening The minimum type size for one color is: For one-element typefaces 6 pt. For two-element typefaces 7 pt The minimum type size for more than one color or in the counter is: For one-element typefaces 8 pt.

For two-element typefaces 10 pt The minimum permissible line thickness is 0.2 pt. Lines made in the counter or in more than one color must have a thickness of not less than 0,75 pt In order to avoid the inaccuracy of the fit, create trapping, i.e. the minimal overlapping of colors on each other. In the case of composite files, which are preferred by the printer, the customer should not make trapping. This process takes place at the printer s, unless the customer has any reservations. In the case of separated files, the printer has no possibility of introducing trapping, and therefore they must be made by the customer. The recommended value of trapping is 0.05 mm (0.144 pt.). In the case of text in a counter on black background of four colors, negative trapping is recommended for CMY colors of 0.17 mm (0.5 pt.). When "metallic" ink is used in printing, CMYK tripping is made towards the metallic color Black texts with sizes less than or equal to 24 pt. on a colored background (CMYK) must be overprinted. Black text on metallic colors is an exception, knockout should be used then Black text larger than 24 pt. may be made of four colors according to those mentioned in section All graphic elements must be prepared in CMYK color space. Graphic elements and photographs prepared in other color spaces, such as RGB or Lab, are automatically converters to CMYK using ICC profile ISO Coated v2_300_eci with perceptual rendering Pushing out master materials is a common phenomenon in stitched binding. Inner sections are moved away from the side by a value dependent on the thickness of the paper and the position of the master material to the center of the binding. This phenomenon reduces the effective width of the pages and the shift of graphic content and, in extreme cases, causes the cutting of graphic elements located at the front of the binding. To prevent this, the customer shall increase the outer margin of individual pages of master materials by a proper value, while keeping the other margins and the page size. 6. Separation 6.1. Separation should be done with the use of the ICC profile adapted to the group of paper on which print will be done in accordance with ISO The ICC profile is provided by the Title Guardian. Use the profiles recommended by the printer. Using the ICC profiles is possible only after consultation with the Guardian Title The printer is not responsible for the correctness of transferring files prepared not in accordance with the above recommendations and those containing objects directly or indirectly from CorelDraw or AutoCAD to printing forms, it also has the right to refuse to accept files prepared incorrectly. All additional operations aimed at adapting the file to compliance with the specifications and all changes made by the printer upon request are treated as additional charged services. 7. Reference materials 7.1. It is recommended to attach a contract proof to each page Contract proofs should be made after the last adjustment of files submitted for printing Use the ICC profile obtained from the Title Guardian to perform a contract proof.

7.4. Each contract profile needs to be given a title, publication number, page number, file name, date of proof performance and name of the ICC profile used. Each contract proof must also have an Ugra/FOGRA v.2.2 or 3.0 control strip. Lack of description or strip makes it impossible to use a contract proof as a master material at the printer s In the case of print acceptance by the customer, the master material accepted and signed by the customer is the reference material Prints from previous editions are not a contract proof, they can only be a reference point for the operator. The use of this type of master material entails the possibility of obtaining different colors because of the lack of information concerning the preparation of materials and the printing process or due to different placement of columns per a sheet If the customer delivers no contract proofs, printing is done according to the Lab coordinates of the primary colors and dot gain specified by ISO , for the given group of paper. Proofs sent by the printer for acceptance should be sent in order to constitute a pattern in the printing process Exact requirements concerning the methods of control proof preparation are included in the Basic Quality Standards (chap. IV, p.1.1.2) 7.9. Failure to follow these guidelines can result in limiting the liability of the printer for the final result, a possible change in the schedule and costs of execution. IV. BASIC PRODUCTION QUALITY STANDARDS 1. Printing process 1.1. Color: The colors of the finished product should be as close as possible to the colors provided by the Publisher in a correctly prepared contract proof taking into consideration the specificity of offset printing, paper quality, proof characteristics and other factors affecting the colors of prints Requirements concerning contract proofs. Each proof should have an Ugra/FOGRA control strip or a strip made available by the Title Guardian. Each proof delivered to the printer should be accompanied by a certificate confirming its correctness. The current standard applicable for the certification of contract proofs is ISO :2007. proof proof Eab CMYK field <5 Eab CMYK field >5 Eab the average of the control strip <3 Eab the average of the control strip >3 Eab maximum <6 Eab maximum >6

Eab simulation of the ground <3 H maximum for the CMYK fields <2.5 H the average of gray balance <1.5 Eab simulation of the ground >3 H maximum for the CMYK fields >2.5 H the average of gray balance >1.5 Measurement conditions: White pad D50 illumination Standard observer 2 o Absolute value No UV filter and no polarizing filter Proofs must be made with the ICC profile for: STANDARD ISO COATED-Y2-ECI.ICC coated papers, uncoated STANDARD ISO UNCOATED-Y2-ECI.ICC If a proof is not prepared according to the following Technical Specifications, it does not constitute a contract proof. In such a case, the printer performs a contract proof at the expense of the customer. If the customer does not agree to the execution of the proof, the proof supplied by the Client can provide a reference material for the operator, but it is associated with the possibility of a different color resulting Optical densities of the printing process are selected so as to obtain Lab values of solid CMYK field values corresponding to the Lab primary colors obtained from standard ECI profiles on the paper of a given group and on given inks Tolerance of printing parameters in relation to the master materal accepted by the customer or by an authorized employee of the Printer: Optical density <= +/- 0.1 > +/- 0.1 Raster point gain <= +/- 4% > +/- 4% Measurement conditions: Black Pad E status (DIN) Relative value

No polarization filter Conformity assessment of color between the contract proof and the print is done visually, in a standard D50 illumination according to ISO 3664: If it is necessary to obtain optimal compliance with the master material, Lab values of solid fields can go beyond the tolerance limits specified in the standard ISO In order to ensure the best quality reproduction of color in relation to a properly made contract proof, the printer may apply an additional optimization process for input data Color matching Permissible deviation of consecutive color matching printed in a single pass through the printing machine. <= 0.2mm > 0.2mm When the print of a page takes place in two or more cycles of production printing, it is possible to exceed tolerance values for color matching imposed in subsequent cycles. The degree of error depends on the individual properties of the paper used and it is associated with dimensional instability Pantone additional colors. Due to the lack of densitometric control of color intensity, correct colors are considered one that visually fit between the (-) sample and the (+) sample supplied by the ink manufacturer. Additional colors should always be accepted by the customer Matching images and the varnish layer in case of selective varnishing <= 1mm > 1mm 1.5. Layer of lacquer. A layer with an unpainted space on the surface to be painted is an invalid layer of varnish or UV offset. 2. Bookbinding process 2.1. Trim dimension Permissible deviation of trim dimension in relation to the nominal dimension measured for each 100 mm

Cut in the head and <= +/- 1mm > +/- 1mm legs Front cut <= +/- 1mm > +/- 1mm 2.2. Trimming parallelism Permissible deviation of parallelism of two binding edges when measured after folding the book in half <= +/- 2mm > +/- 2mm 2.3. Laying pages Permissible vertical deviation in arrangements of pages between master materials in the finished copy: <= +/- 2mm > +/- 2mm It consists of a total of allowable deviations from previous technological processes: permissible deviation from the line of scrap amounting to +/- 1 mm permissible deviation between master materials +/- 1 mm Permissible vertical deviation between the cover and the insert: Binding type Glued <= +/- 2.5mm > +/- 2.5mm Stitched <= +/- 1.5mm > +/- 1.5mm It consists of a total of allowable deviations from previous technological processes: Sheet fold located within the tolerance limits +/- 1 mm Deviations arising during print on a sheet and cutting into single pieces (covers) =/- 1mm Tolerances of feed in and cover gluing +/- 0.5 mm The permissible deviation of the format copy in glued binding and stitched binding should be within the allowable tolerance. Changing the format of the binding in

relation to the specified net format may result exclusively from striving to keep the image format Colver strength Glued binding The strength of glued binding is measured using a Pull Tester. The number of sheets that should be tested in a single book is: 3 sheets spaced evenly in a copy for books of side thickness <= 1 cm 5 sheets spaced evenly in a copy for books of side thickness > 1 cm >= 4.5 N/cm < 4.5 N/cm Stitched binding A correct stitched binding is one in which covers remain connected and are not separated at the site of the executed folds as a result of the stitching used, and the amount of stitches is in line with the ordered (per one edge) Correct stitching is the one which: Permanently joins the joint edge of a notebook The total length of stitching does not cause overlapping of edges The edges of staples are bent in the manner specified in the order (flat-bent or radiused) Permissible tolerance of stitching position in the direction perpendicular to the line of the side: <= +/- 1mm > +/- 1mm The strength of stitched binding is not measured, because in this case the result is not the binding strength, but the strength of the paper Cutting sheets Permissible deviation when cutting sheets into single pieces: <= +/- 1mm > +/- 1mm 2.6. Folding and perforated sheets Folding fold deviation from the nominal line of its location (on each fold)

<= +/- 1mm > +/- 1mm Perforation deviation of the perforation from its nominal location <= +/- 1mm > +/- 1mm The final deviation of the executed folds and perforations is also affected by permissible deviations arising during earlier technological processes, printing and cutting of the sheet. 3. Delivery acceptance criteria Delivery is considered consistent with the order if at least 95% of the product has quality parameters within the scope of tolerance permissible by the following Technical Specifications. When determining the level of compliance of the product with the requirements of the rules described in the Polish standard PN-ISO :2003 Sampling procedures for inspection by an alternative method. Part 1: Sampling plans indexed by acceptable quality limit (AQL) used to control batch after batch. If the individual agreement does not specify otherwise any comments and objections should be submitted within 14 days from the date of shipment.
