4 DABSMYLA, ARTIST For Australian duo DABSMYLA united not only in the multi-media artwork they create, but also as husband and wife each new day of creative thinking finds them entering and excelling in multiple disciplines. Their vivid and often cheerful depictions are created in a unique, back-and-forth process with each artist infusing their singular personality into the work while also incorporating flourishes of their bliss-filled existence as a partnership. The finished products are photorealistic representations of the cityscapes they encounter as they travel, mixed with mid-century illustration and theatrical cartoons from the Golden Age of animation. For Bold Notion, DABSMYLA bring their whimsical style to our Lobby, Gallery and Restaurant. Their immersive installation features an array of work including paintings, three-dimensional dioramas, wood cutouts, patterned murals, and a number of hand-painted trinkets. Since moving from Melbourne to Los Angeles in 2009, DABSMYLA have had a number of notable achievements. From painting murals in places like Rio de Janeiro, London, Detroit, Norway and Tahiti, to working for corporate clients like adidas and Sanrio, their tireless efforts across the world reached newheights when they were commissioned to design the entire set, logo and award statuette for the 2015 MTV Movie Awards.

6 ROGER GASTMAN, CURATOR Roger Gastman is a collector, curator, graffiti historian and urban anthropologist. He started writing graffiti as a teenager in Bethesda, Maryland, and later parlayed his love for it into a legitimate career, becoming a trusted mediator between the underground art scenes and mainstream culture. He founded and co-published Swindle magazine as well as many highly soughtafter art books. As the founder and creative director of RRE, he has transformed graffiti and street artists into internationally recognized stars. Gastman has been involved in critically acclaimed documentaries: Infamy, Banksy s Exit Through the Gift Shop (which earned an Academy Award nomination for best documentary), The Legend of COOL DISCO DAN, and the upcoming WALL WRITERS. He co-authored The History of American Graffiti, co-curated the groundbreaking MoCA Los Angeles Art in the Streets exhibit, and curated PUMP ME UP: D.C. subculture of the 1980s at the Corcoran Gallery of Art. Gastman remains a maverick in brand consulting and works tirelessly to cement art and graffiti into the contemporary landscape.
