It's Birthday Time!! Is everyone ready to celebrate Valley Quilters Guild Birthday? Well I am, and I can't wait. We are going to learn the history of our guild by the members of the guild. It should be great! There is so much we as newer members don't know about Valley Quilters Guild. I am excited about hearing all about us!! The Idyllwild Mountain Quilt Guild will be coming!! Twenty-five members of their guild will be visiting us, we are so lucky. We also have Primitive Gatherings coming to sell the wears so bring your money everyone!! Don't forget your potluck items for our lunch. Remember there are going to be extra mouths to feed this year so come prepared!! See everyone there and Happy Quilting! 1

Current Membership Breakdown: Honorary Life Members 4 Active Members 95 Absentee Members 5 Total Membership 104 as of August 28th Trunk show. Then, on Wednesday is the workshop with Leah. The class is called Orphans and Aliens. The cost of the class is $30.00 and will be held at Valley Wide. Kathleen Jones will be taking signups at the September meeting. Please make your check out to Valley Quilters. Ladies we need 20 of you to sign up so we can make these classes go. Please come and have a great time and support our speakers and the guild. There are some picture examples for the class in the pictures attachment with the newsletter. Hospitality Lorie Mathis Birthday Luncheon!! Everyone remember your dishes for the party. Thank You! We have three new members: Geri Hauser (rejoin), Sonya Feigen & Elaine Robertson. Please be sure to introduce yourself and welcome our new members. Programs Mary Myers, 1st Vice President This month is our Birthday Luncheon. I think it is going to be very interesting learning some our history as a guild. Please also don't forget your dish for the luncheon. At the October meeting Leah Ziebler will be speaking. 3 Fat Quarter Fun Kathy Barbay September 2018 August fat quarters were won by Hope Mulstay and Sonia (guest), congratulations. September Fat Quarters: Orange Retreats Mary Myers The deposit is $80.00 with a balance due of $ at the February guild meeting. The date again, March 11-14, This is a fun time to sew with all your friends. We do have a lot of fun laughing and sharing stories and helping each other with quilting ideas. If you have never been now is the time to sign up and come have fun. You need to get your own roommate. I will try to help but this part is up to you. You can call me if you have any questions. It can be simply a block that needs to be pieced or you need a big table to lay out your project. This is a time to ask questions, share what you are working on, get advice, etc. Meetings are much too busy to get many of your questions answered. Please remember to bring back any Security Quilts you have taken home. I will bring applications to be filled out by you to our next meeting. These quilts will be entered as guild entries. Road to California is asking quilts to donate completed tops, quilts that only need a binding, quilts that are finished, or just donate fabric. Please use the X and O pattern we have provided. 4

5 Needle Yakkers Betty Barney Needle Yakkers meets every Monday morning at 9am at Valley Wide Recreation Center, to yak, quilt, tie security quilts or bring your own project. If you are a new or newer member wanting to find out more about quilting, help with a project, or want to find some new friends, come to needle yakkers. All members are welcome. UFO Challenge Doris Rogers 1. UFO must be over one year old. 2. Submit a list of each UFO with a brief description. 3. Submit one fat quarter for each UFO on the list. 4. Show completed UFO at a guild meeting and choose one fat quarter from the basket. 5. At the end of the year a participant's name will be drawn for the remaining fat quarters. Let's see how many UFO's can be completed! Quilt Show - Baskets Cinda Olivas I am accepting any new quilting/sewing items for next year's baskets. 5

All applications are due December 1st, Don't forget to write 35 words about your quilt, include a picture of each quilt and include one picture of yourself, unless acquisition already has a picture. One picture of yourself even if you enter 3 quilts. Don't forget all Quilts must have a 4" sleeve. Entry forms have gone out via (please read entire packet). A hard copy can be picked up at Guild meeting. Help us support our Quilt Show by donating to: 1. Baskets: new items only (watch for sales) 2. Boutique: go thru all your craft items and take them to Marianne Crouch's home. Thank you 3. Consignment: forms will be passed out at the October meeting or you can visit the website and print one form there. 4. Job sign-ups: October we will start taking job sign-up. Please sign up for several jobs kitchen, boutique, consignment, door tickets, baskets and opportunity tickets, etc. We have several sit down jobs. 7 Mini Workshops Phyllis Binkley & Shirley Mykris Thanks to all of you for the great response we got about mini workshops. (Workshops will all be on Monday's at Valley Wide) On September 17, Shirley Mykris will teach Table Runner. On October 15, Kathleen Jones will teach Microwave Bowl or stitched rope bowl. On November 12, Phyllis Binkley will teach Woven Place mats. Remember that a $5 fee is required at time of sign up or at least the month before. Also, the schedule is dependent upon enough members signing up to make it worthwhile for the teacher to hold the class, so if you are interested, please sign up so we will have enough people to hold the class. This $5 fee will be returned to you at the workshop if you attend. Mini workshops are for sharing techniques and skills with our guild members Need volunteers to teach mini workshops in March, April and May Ye Olde Consignment Shoppe 2019 Believe it or not February is just around the corner and it's time for you to start thinking about what you would like to sell at our Consignment Shoppe during our quilt show February 8th and 9th YOU SET YOUR OWN PRICES and 15% comes back to the Guild. Any items not priced will not be sold. All items must be sewing related, clean, in quality condition, and hand made. No resale items or garage sale items are allowed. The committee in charge of consignments reserve the right to reject any item that does not follow the above guidelines. Only members may sell items in consignment. You may not sell items for your friends, church or any other person. We will have consignment sheets and a separate agreement WHICH WILL NEED YOUR SIGNATURE available online at our website or at the October Guild Meeting. They must be completed and back to us on or before the December Guild Meeting so that we will have time to count out the number of sales tags you will require. We encourage and will gladly accept donations from your friendship group or yourself with 100% of the sale price going to the Guild. Please direct any questions to the following committee members.
