Stitch 1.5 Fabric 8 strip lengthwise to 1.5 Fabric 7 strip to make one strip set. Make a total of (10) strip sets; SC (8) oft he strip sets into (24) 12.5 long pieces. [A] Use remaining (2) strip sets to cut (48) 1.5 wide two-patch segments. Trim (8) 1.5 Fabric 8 strips into (24) sections 12.5 long. To each oft hese sections add a two-patch block to match image at left. [B]

Stitch a 1.5 Fabric 8 strip to 1.5 Fabric 6 strip. Make fourteen (14) like strip sets. SC six (6)of these strip sets into (16) sections 12.5 long. [C] SC six (6) strip sets into (32) 6.

4 Stitch a 1.5 Fabric 8 strip to 1.5 Fabric 6 strip. Make fourteen (14) like strip sets. SC six (6)of these strip sets into (16) sections 12.5 long. [C] SC six (6) strip sets into (32) 6.0 long sections. [D] From remainder of these strip sets cut (64) 1.5 wide two-patch segments. Attach a two-patch segment to each end of 1.5 x 4.5 Fabric 8 pieces. Make 32. [E] Block Assembly Instructions: Block 1: Appliqued fan is shown in the images below but wait until your block is assembled per the third image below before adding applique. It will make it easier to get your fan centered correctly. Stitch 1.5 x 12.5 Fabric 7/8 pairs labeled Section [A] above to left and right side of 12.5 x 12.5 Fabric 8 piece. Make 6. Add 1.5 x 16.5 Fabric 7 strip to top and bottom. Finally add Section [B] piece to top and bottom of block. Using the fan block pattern which you have enlarged 200% on a photocopy machine, put the pattern under your pieced block and use a light box or window to help with centering placement and applique the fan handles and fan in place. Make three blocks following the pattern and three blocks reversing the fan template. The inner spokes of the fan can be added several ways make fabric strips to match the fan handles, satin stitch those lines or use another decorative stitch, or quilt those lines in when quilting your block. Using 12.5 Fabric 1 squares and 12.5 Fabric 2 squares, follow the first three sewing steps in Block 1 instructions to add framing around squares to match images. Make a total of two blocks with Fabric 1 Center and four with Fabric 2 center. Using the 4.5 x 12.5 Fabric 3 and 4 sections, add Section [C] pieces to left and right side of each. Stitch 1.5 x 8.5 Fabric 6 section to top and bottom of each. Then add Section [E] pieces to top and bottom. Make a total of four blocks to match each image. Using the 6.0 x 4.5 Fabric 5 and Fabric 4 sections, join Section [D] pieces to left and right sides. Make a total of eight blocks to match each image. Join the two sections just made together into pairs adding a 1.5 x 8.5 Fabric 6 section between the two blocks and at left and right edge of blocks to match image at left. Then add to left and right of block a Section [E] piece. Lay out blocks as shown in row below. Working from left to right, stitch 1.5 x 8.5 Fabric 8 piece between first and second block and also the third and fourth block. Between second and third block, stitch 2.5 x 8.5 Fabric 8 piece. Make a total of two rows to match the image below. Following main quilt diagram, lay your remaining blocks out in their rows. There are six horizontal rows. Stitch 1.5 x 16.5 Fabric 8 sashing strip between each block to join them into a row for all remaining rows.

5 Stitch two (2) 1.5 x WOF Fabric 8 strips together along short edges to make sashing strip. Trim to 68.5 long. Make a total of five (5) like sashing strips. Lay out rows per quilt image and stitch sashing strip between each row as you join them. Binding: Join all strips together end to end on a 45 degree angle; trim seam allowance and press seams. Press binding strip in half lengthwise to make double-fold binding. Backing: Cut backing fabric into two pieces, each 2+1/2 yards long and seam vertically.
