1 ANJULI S VERY WHOVIAN FAIR ISLE JUMPER Anjuli s Very Whovian Fair Isle Jumper If you re as excited as I am for the new season of Dr.Who with the brand new Doctor then you ll want to knit yourself a lovely jumper to celebrate! I have created this pattern and charts to allow you to make yourself a snugly warm Whovian jumper, so you can always be with The Doctor. Currently the pattern is designed for a UK Medium fit (roughly a size bust) as this is my size, and I will attempt to make other sizes which will be available to download from my Ravelry Store soon (search AnjuliClayden) for a small fee (it takes a lot of time and maths to work out different sizes!) This is the first thing I have ever used the Fair Isle technique with, so don t be scared if you have never done it before. It s really quite easy when you get into the swing of it, and in this lovely super chunky yarn it knits up pretty quick too! This is the first pattern I have ever written myself, so please be kind, I have tried to keep it as simple as possible. If you find a mistake do let me know and I will attempt to rectify it. This is written exactly as I made the jumper in the images, so I am hoping it is all correct! YOU WILL NEED 600g of your main colour of Drops Eskimo I used Off White (01) but it would work well in a darker colour as well 200g of your contrast colour of Drops Eskimo I used Blue Violet (21) as it looked good as the TARDIS colour A pair of 7mm and 8mm 100cm circular needles I used my Knit Pro interchangeable Cubics Stitch Markers ABBREVIATIONS CO Cast On BO Bind Off K Knit P Purl MC Main Colour CC Contrast Colour stst Stocking Stitch inc. 2 BODY KNITTED IN THE ROUND With MC CO 128 sts on 7mm needles and join in the round Work K2, P2 Rib for 7cm Change to 8mm needles Knit 1 round and decrease 20 sts evenly (108 sts) Place a marker at the beginning of the round and also 54 sts in (this marks the back and the front) Attach CC and start working stst and using MC and CC work chart A1 for 18 motifs. Break CC when A1 completed A1. The 7th Doctors Question Mark, 6 stitches across and 9 rows down Continue with body in MC for 35cm in stst Attach CC and work chart A2 for 9 motif repeats A2. The New DW Logo, 12 stitches across and 9 rows Break CC after chart completed Knit 1 round in MC BO 7 sts each side of stitch markers for arm holes (94 sts) Continue in MC until piece measures 42cm from ribbing Leave on stitch holder (or keep on the cords if using interchangeable needles) until the sleeve are complete. SLEEVES KNITTED IN THE ROUND Both sleeves are knitted the same I like to knit them both at once in the magic loop method, so that they end up the same length! You can find how to videos about this on YouTube very easily. On 7mm needles and with MC CO 30 sts Work K2, P2 rib for 7cm Change to 8mm needles Knit 1 round in stst Attach CC and work chart A1 for 5 motifs Break CC after chart completed Place stitch marker at the beginning of the round (this is your under arm) and work stst in MC for 14cm & inc. 1 st each side of the marker Repeat * every 8cm until you get to 36 sts *AT THE SAME TIME AS THIS INCREASE IS HAPPENING* When you get to 35cm in length attach CC and start chart A2. For 3 motifs around When chart complete break CC Work 1 round in MC and stst BO 7 sts underarm (29 sts) Continue sts until piece measures 43 cm and leave on stitch holder, or cords Knit 2nd sleeve the same Page 2/6

3 YOKE KNITTED IN THE ROUND For the yoke there are 3 charts to choose from (A3, A4 and A5). You can knit just one, or you can knit in all three like I did. You should have 8 motif repeats going around the yoke of this jumper. I arrange mine so you can see a complete TARDIS, the Doctor and a Dalek at the front, a Dalek on each shoulder and 3 Daleks across the back. You can of course knit 8 TARDIS or 8 Doctors, or even 8 Daleks! The charts are interchangeable so you can make this part your own. Now you need to get the sleeves onto the same needle/cord that your body is on. Place a marker at the mid back of the body (the round will start here) Using MC knit in stst until you get to the first lot of stitches you BO for the underarm. Here slip the live stitches from one sleeve onto the cord, making sure the 7BO sts on both match up. Continue to work in stst around the sleeve and across the front of the jumper body. Again when you get to the BO sts slip the live stitches from the other sleeve onto the cord, matching all the BO sts for both (the underarms) Continue round in stst until you get back to the marker in the middle of the body Work another complete round in MC and inc. 8 sts evenly (160sts) Work 1cm in stst Attach CC and work in stst work charts A3, A4 and/or A5 dec. stitches where shown on the chart (80sts) Break CC when charts are completed A3 The Dalek, A4 The TARDIS, A5 The Doctor Chart starting with 20 sts and ending with 10 sts, across 32 rows Work 1 round in MC and dec. 20 sts evenly (60sts) ELEVATION IN THE BACK K 8 past the stitch marker, turn, P17 back, turn, K25, turn, P33, turn, K41, turn, P49 sts Work 1 round in MC stst NECK Change to 7mm needles In MC K2, P2 rib for 12cm BO loosely keeping in pattern TO MAKE UP Sew underarm cast off 7sts to each other Block in cool water and very carefully Drops Eskimo is a 100% wool loose spun yarn and is prone to felting if you agitate it too much.
