4 FREQUENT QUESTIONS ABOUT PROFESSIONAL DRILLING WHAT IS MEANT BY DRILLING? The extraction of rock samples from the ground. In the building trade, it means drilling walls or floors made of brick, stone, reinforced concrete, etc. for installing vents, pipes, screw anchors, etc. HOW ARE THE HOLES MADE? Diamond crowns are used fitted on electrical machines called drilling machines or coring machines, for dry use, wet use and with dust extraction depending on the type of material and user requirements. HOW BIG CAN DRILLING DIAMETERS BE? Manual drilling up to 180 mm in diameter. Column drilling up to 500 mm in diameter. WHO USES PROFESSIONAL DRILLING? Electricians, Plumbers, Airconditioning/heating installers, Builders. ON WHAT MATERIALS IS DRY DRILLING USED? Bricks, light concrete, Poroton blocks, stone, reinforced concrete, etc. AND WET DRILLING? Reinforced concrete, vibrated concrete, asphalt, stone and natural materials, brick walls and Poroton. WHICH IS THE IDEAL SYSTEM? For actual cm2 cutting costs, water

5 column use is definitely cheaper, but is not viable in the case of materials that absorb water, of already furnished and/or inhabited buildings and in the case of building interspaces. Manual dry use provides greater flexibility and is more practical in case of uncomfortable and/or restricted positions. WHAT TYPE OF CORING MACHINES ARE AVAILABLE? Dry or wet manual coring machines are available, or fixed on column for wet use. WHY A CORING MACHINE AND NOT A DRILL? A coring machine is different from a drill for three main reasons: 1- It protects the user from unexpected backlashes caused by crown blockage thanks to the mechanical clutch. 2- The power of the motor is considerably greater. 3- The rotation speed is lower because the diamond tools can be used to their full potential. WHY A CORING MACHINE AND NOT AN ELECTRIC BREAKER? The electric breaker features a percussion that damages the diamond tool. The coring machine is lighter as are the tools. The rotation speed of the coring machine is higher and more suitable for the correct use of the diamond tools. With diamond drilling, the hole is cleaner, the plaster does not break on pulling out and the job is more precise. If great caution is used, small iron rods can be cut. There are no vibrations. Cutting costs per cm2 are much lower

Ideal for applications on all those materials where drilling precision and speed are essential for doing a successful job, e.g., drilling porcelain stoneware (photo 1), mosaic glass coverings (photo 2) and granite sheets (photo 3). Max drilling diameter is 40 mm. Thanks to the high rotation speed (6400 and 3600 rpm) even corners or thresholds of tiles can be drilled (photo 3) without any risk of cracking or chipping the material. It differs from all other coring machines in terms of its extreme ease of use, its capacity to quickly dry drill reinforced concrete equipped exclusively with Maxima diamond core bits, for the best weight/power ratio, max core bit diameter of 182 mm and the possibility of fitting accessories and core bits for dust extraction without affecting cutting speed performance at all (Photo 3). 15 DRY CORE BITS This section contains the dry core bits of the Maxima range for use on manual coring machines. These have all been developed for the dry drilling of reinforced concrete and are available with M16 and 1 ¼ fitting. The Gold Spiral core bit is the most popular dry core bit in Italy and also the most imitated. It has been distributed on an exclusive basis since 2002 and provides unparalleled performance.

16 GOLD SPIRAL CORE BIT DESCRIPTION This is the fastest and best performing core bit of them all. It has been distributed on an exclusive basis since 2002, and has been developed by Maxima for dry drilling reinforced concrete. It has features that make it one of a kind: the spiral and tapered shape of the body together with the knurled segment with concave/convex design reduce friction and ensure better unloading, thereby improving drilling speed to an exceptional extent. Core bit length: 150 mm. AVAILABLE IN THE FOLLOWING DIAMETERS SILVER CORE BIT DESCRIPTION The Silver Core Bit has been designed to provide a product which in terms of quality is identical to the Gold Spiral Core Bit but which is not so high performing, thus making it ideal for those who do not require use on a daily basis. DESCRIPTION The Black Spiral Core bit has been designed to provide a product which in terms of quality is identical to the Gold Spiral Core Bit but of greater length, to favour operating speed. AVAILABLE IN THE FOLLOWING DIAMETERS VACUUM 300 CORE BIT DESCRIPTION This is the tool of the range suitable for jobs requiring dust extraction. The Vacuum 300 Core Bit also features the same diamond segment as the 150 mm long core bits and is therefore able to dry drill (or wet drill) materials such as reinforced concrete, bricks, tiles and concrete. 19 WET CORE BITS The range of Wet Core Bits is available for various uses, with 1/2 gas and 1 ¼ fittings, with laser or brazed welding joints with diameter mm. Apart from the Gold Gres Core Bit, the entire range has been developed for column machinery.

Operating at very high rotation speed to wet drill porcelain stoneware, granite, marble and many other materials without any risk of cracks or breakage, even when used on tile corners. 21 SILVER 450 CORE BIT DESCRIPTION The Silver 450 Core Bit is ideal for drilling medium or large diameter holes. This core bit can be fitted on machines with 1 1/4 fitting. Totally similar to the Gold 450 Core Bit, it differs from this essentially in terms of the body which in this case is perfectly cylindrical. Core bit length: 450 mm.
