No crimping is required just solder the the wire to the crimp piece and use some heat shrink tubing to cover the end of the crimp.

1 In this section we will be wiring up the IEC socket (AC plug) with the rocker switch and the Mains transformer primaries. Follow these instructions if you live in an area with 100, 110, 220 or 230 Volts!" "!#"$$% This wiring diagram shows the relationship between the Mains primaries, the rocker switch and the IEC switch (AC plug) See the appendix for a full page graphic of this wiring diagram 1) Insert the IEC socket /fuseholder into position on the back panel of the chassis. Using 10mm M3 screws along with plain and serrated washers and nuts, attach to the chassis. Orient the IEC switch so that the fuse side is closest to the bottom of the chassis Do not install the rocker switch yet as its easier to solder to it or plug on with the rocker not installed.

2 NOTE: When soldering to the rocker switch and IEC plug you can either solder directly to the posts or use the provided metallic crimp pieces that can be soldered to the wire and the plugged onto the IEC and rocker switch posts. The photos in this section show the method with the metallic crimped ends. No crimping is required just solder the the wire to the crimp piece and use some heat shrink tubing to cover the end of the crimp. Refer to the correct Voltage Wiring diagram in the appendix for additional clarity when following these instructions: 2) Solder a 20 centimetre length of Blue wire onto the terminal marked N (Neutral) on the mains IEC inlet socket. 3) Solder a 20 centimetre length of Brown wire to the unmarked terminal below N, this is the fused Live supply wire. 4) Attach a 10 centimetre length of Yellow/Green cable to the remaining terminal marked E. 5) Twist tightly together the Blue and Brown wires that are attached to the IEC socket, then thread all three (Blue, Brown, Yellow/Green) through the back of the rubber insulating boot, and slide the boot into place. Lets focus on the Mains primaries that are located closest to the edge of the chassis and are made up of the following colors see the TRANS031 IEC Wiring in the appendix also. Primaries: Orange, Red, Brown, Black, Grey, Purple, Blue, Yellow

3 Take the wiring diagram for the World voltage that you live in and you will need to connect up the correct colored wire to the neutral and live sides of the rocker switch. You can also refer to the folowing chart to see which wires you will need to wire up to the rocker switch Live and Neutral &#Connect the Mains Primaries Yellow & Black and connect to the NEUTRAL side of the Rocker Switch.Connect the Mains Primaries BROWN & BLUE together and to LIVE side of the Rocker Switch &- Connect the Mains Primaries Yellow & Black and connect to the NEUTRAL side of the Rocker Switch Connect the Mains Primaries Red & Purple together and to LIVE side of the Rocker Switch '&(Connect the Mains Primaries Yellow & Black and connect to the NEUTRAL side of the Rocker Switch Connect the Mains Primaries Grey & Orange together and to LIVE side of the Rocker Switch ''& Connect the Black Mains Primary Wire to the NEUTRAL side of the rocker switch. Connect the Red and Yellow wires of the mains transformer Use heat shrink so that there is no exposed lead. Connect the Purple Wire from the Mains Primary to the LIVE side of the Rocker Switch ' &#Connect the Black Mains Primary Wire to the NEUTRAL side of the rocker switch. Connect the Orange and Yellow wires of the mains transformer Use heat shrink so that there is no exposed lead. Connect the Purple Wire from the Mains Primary to the LIVE side of the Rocker Switch ')& Connect the Black Mains Primary Wire to the NEUTRAL side of the rocker switch. Connect the Orange and Yellow wires of the mains transformer Use heat shrink so that there is no exposed lead. Connect the Grey Wire from the Mains Primary to the LIVE side of the Rocker Switch

4 6) Take the LIVE wire from the Mains Primary ( the primaries are the set of wires closest to the edge of the chassis) and trim to about 15cm in length - Strip off the end and then tin ( apply solder) For V you will have a pair of wires 7) Take the NEUTRAL wire from the Mains Primary and trim to about 15cm in length - Strip off the ends and twist the end and then tin ( apply solder) 8) If you are using the crimped ends then add heat shrink tube to the wire and solder the Blue wire to the crimped end Do the same for the Brown wire NOTE: this photo shows a pair of wires soldered to the crimp end because this Ignore the colors of the wires in these pics- shown for crimping ends only Feed the Blue and White wires from the Mains transformer primaries together with the twisted Blue & Brown wire through the insulating boot for the switch and then poke them out of the switch hole in the chassis. 9) Connect or solder the Blue & Brown wires to the terminals which are closer together on the mains switch, and the other two from the mains transformer to the terminals which are further apart. ( see diagram below) Push the mains switch into position. 10) Slide the insulating boot over the switch. Tidy up these mains wires and hold the boots in place with the cable ties provided.

5 The following pics will show wires of a different color (H Mains) code In the meantime you can use these pics to get an idea of what the hookup will be like for the TRANS 031 This is the first cut of the new manual and I only have photos of the 120V wiring. The photo shows the correct wiring for 120V where the brown and white twisted pair are connected to the neutral side of the rocker switch and the blue black twisted pair are connected to the live side of the rocker switch. The 20cm lengths of brown and blue wire that are twisted together connect the IEC switch with the rocker. For the UK voltage you would replace the brown white pair with just a WHITE wire and you would replace the Blue/Black pair with just the BLUE wire. 6 Trim those wires not used to about 5 centimetres length, slide a 2 centimetre length of heat shrink tubing over each of the wires, fold over the last 1 centimetre of wire and push the tubing over the bend. Use a hair dryer very, very carefully to shrink the tubing. You can also use the soldering iron if you are careful not to touch the tubing or anything nearby. The above procedure is to prevent any unused wires shorting to the chassis Well done on completing the IEC section of the amplifier! Time for a break!!
